Thursday Swimming 48 minutes (1 MILE)

I'm getting a total rush from being able to swim a MILE again. I was more comfortable dropping the kids off with the drop in daycare at the Y too. It's weird how little stuff like that can make me so anxious/nervous. I know some of it is the PPD, but geesh. It just makes me feel silly sometimes.

Catching Up

Over the weekend, there was much eating out.  I had my friend Jess visiting, and we went out and showed her the town!  (she's not from St. Louis)  I did fairly well there with my eating.  Not awesome and perfect, but definitely in the realm of just fine.

Monday's eating was a step above that, although not perfect.  I didn't get any work outs in, it was my friend's last day.

Yesterday I did an hour of Zumba (Timpani, you should TOTALLY check it out because it IS fun!!!).  I also did perfect with my eating.  The $$ for the weight loss challenge is now over $1000.  *strangling noise*  I must win!!  I weighed in and lost 1.8 lbs!  (I'm calling that 2)  My hard work last week paid off!  I also signed up for a month of unlimited classes for Zumba, which means I can go as many as three times a week.  There is another Zumba instructor if I want to go more, but if I feel like I need more work outs, I think I should do Jillian, Pilates abs, or go for a run.

Tuesday JM 30 Day Shred Level 2 + extras (35 minutes)

Also- cleaning for an hour or so today. I had to skip working out yesterday because I was so sore from taking a 1/2 hour walk and then hand washing our newly acquired car and my van. I don't usually do that stuff on Sunday, but it was going to be the only nice day for awhile and I needed some sun therapy! Who knew hand washing cars for a few hours was so hard on the body though? I'll have to remember that one.

Saturday Trail running 1 hour

I only ran twice this week, but at least I ran an hour today . Oh well, I guess that's winter for you. Next week looks fun too with super cold temps :P The trail oscillated between icy and muddy. It was also really gusty out, which made me fear that a branch was going to come falling down on me at any moment. There was actually a big sounding tree branch that snapped just as I got on the dirt part of the trail. I have no idea how big it was because it was over a little rise, but it was loud enough to scare the crap out of me!

Thursday

I did Zumba yesterday!  It's still really hard.  I run out of gas about 2/3 of the way in, so I can't go as all out as I want, but I don't quit!  Still pretty sore, but not as badly as I thought I would be, so definitely progress there. :)
I also ate very well yesterday.  Two days in a row, booyah!

Thursday JM 30 Day Shred Level 2 + Extras (35 minutes)

I did Level 2 again because I wanted to watch TV more while I worked out, and Level 2 has more standing up moves. I also modified the workout to just do mostly standing up moves. I used 10 lb weights for JM and 20 lbs for the extras . Running Wednesday instead of Tuesday threw off my week. Also, going crazy trying to find a decent car for Big E, plus the kids getting all these snow days, threw off my week as well.

Wednesday

Yesterday I didn't get a workout in because I have company and we were really busy.  I did, however, take the dog on a walk.  Not a very long walk because of the weather (snowy and freezing), but at least it was something.  Also, I was perfect with my eating.

Tuesday

I went to Zumba last night!  I am very very sore.  I was still aching from last Saturday, and now it's just so much worse, lol!
I also weighed in for the weight loss challenge, and I gained a pound and a half.  Boo.  So, I'm going to work really hard this week on my eating, and make an appt with my therapist.

Monday Swimming 30 minutes

I got 20 laps in though before I started to feel not so good. Stressful day :P

Monday JM 30 day shred Level 2 + extras (35 minutes)

JM with 10 lb weights and then extras with the 20 lb weight. I was still sore from cleaning my mom's house on Saturday, so I scaled it back to Level 2 of JM. Also- walked for an hour yesterday for some sun therapy. Stressful week!

I'm Home!

I had a great vacation!  I got Tracey really good, she had no idea I was coming!  We had a fantastic weekend, did lots of fun things, ate some amazing food, and just soaked each other up.  It was awesome.

I did do Zumba on Saturday morning (which PROVES how much I love that woman).  She is one tough instructor!!  Lots of toning mixed with the cardio, and I am still sore.  Great workout.

I did okay with my eating.  Overindulged on the cake maybe, but I didn't really overeat.

I weighed in this morning and have gained 2 pounds.  However, *TMI alert!*, I haven't pooped in five days , so I'm guessing that has something to do with it.  Picking up a laxative today, because boy howdy, do I feel awful.

I have a friend coming to stay with us for a week today, so there will be much cleaning going on until she gets here.  I'm not sure I will have time to fit a workout in, but I will definitely do Zumba tomorrow.  (plus, I just feel yucky.  today's focus will be on getting things moving.  eating is becoming...unpleasant. :( )

JM with 1/2 10 lb weights and 1/2 5 lb weights. I did the extras with 20 lb weights. I had some trouble with the travelling push ups this time. I had to do almost all of them from the knees.

Thursday Swimming 45 minutes

I was a little nervous today because this was my first time dropping the kids off at the drop in daycare at the YMCA. They do not start until the kids turn 1, and T just turned 1. Well, there were two ladies and one of the ladies laid into me because I did not have shoes for T! She said it was a safety issue or something. The other lady was much nicer and just said have him wear shoes next time. It totally threw me off, and it made me a nervous. But, that was the worst part. I decided that since I was paying a whole $1 per kid to have my kids watched while I swam that I should go for a mile of swimming. I only had 45 minutes to swim (because with changes of clothing I wanted to keep the entire thing under an hour). I managed to get that mile in though! IN 45 MINUTES NO LESS! Go me!

Eating

Yesterday I spent all day getting ready for my vacation that I'm leaving on today.  Which means I did some good housework, yay me!
I also did well eating, despite the fact that I started my period.  My diet always takes a huge hit when I start, especially the first 2-3 days, so if I can do well here at the start, get over that hump, the rest of my period will be easy.  I am going on vacation (to see my friend Tracey in Ohio, who when she comes to visit, you HAVE to meet her, Timpani!), so I'll have to be extra vigilant when it comes to my diet.  Especially because we are going to be eating out a lot.  There is a good side though, because Tracey is vegan, so the places we'll be eating will have more healthy choices than usual.  I will try to post everyday because that's a good way for me to be accountable and keep track of things.
Also, I will be doing Zumba on Saturday even if I feel like death.  Tracey is an instructor and she teaches a class on Saturday morning, and so help me I am going to support her, dang it!

Wed JM 3DS Level 3 + Extras (35 minutes)

I did pretty poorly on the Level 3 moves, but I still did the extras with the 20 lb weight. Go me! Tired this week though :P

Zumba!

Last night I did an hour of Zumba.  Let me tell you something, my instructor has really stepped her game of late!  I'm totally sore!  She's started working in a lot of toning as well as upping the cardio and whew!  It's a hard workout!
I ate very well yesterday and Monday.  I'm pretty sure, actually, that I didn't eat all of my points yesterday.  Not on purpose, though.  I was just thinking about it this morning, and if I'm remembering correctly, I had about 5 left.  I'll keep an eye on that in the future.
I also joined my Zumba class's weight loss challenge.  You have three months to lose weight, and who ever loses the highest % of their body weight takes the pot.  Said pot sits at over $700 right now, and there's still the rest of the week for people to sign up.  If I can manage to lose 20 lbs in the next three months, that's around 15% of my weight.  The last winner lost a little over 12%, so I think I might have a shot.  That's motivation anyway, for sure! :D

Tuesday Running 3 miles (36 minutes)

I was pretty speedy this morning (for me). I also really enjoyed watching the sunrise this morning. It's becoming the nicest part of getting up early to run for me. Who knew that I would become one of those freaks who not only gets up early just to run but also enjoys the sunrise? ;)

ETA- I FINALLY lost 3 lbs. 10 more to go! I think I will just push myself really hard this month and hope to see some results. I'm sick of this last 10 lbs. I just want to be 180ish again where I was happy. I'm not asking to be "skinny" or anything.

Monday Weigh-In and Misc

I got sick.  It ran through my family, and I was the last victim.  And it sucked.
Before I got sick, though, I did go to Zumba a couple of times, and had walked the dog.  Also, on the housekeeping front, I am making strides.  I have been sick for a little over a week, though.  Yesterday was the first day I felt truly well.  However, today while trying to lift something heavy, I twirked my back a little.  No working out today, then.

I weighed in at 143.  That's actually a couple of pounds down from two weeks ago, when I weighed in at 146.  That is officially 22 lbs gained in the past year.  But now I'm 3 lbs down.  I am finding this increasingly difficult, however, and I think it's time to call my therapist to see if we can work on the over eating.  I just don't know how to handle it, and the guilt I encounter every time I put something in my mouth is becoming unbearable.  Time to seek professional help.

I didn't screw my back up too badly, so I'm pretty confident I'll be able to work out tomorrow.  Probably Zumba.  That is something I enjoy, so while I'm trying to get back into this fitness thing, that's what I'm going to focus on instead of things I dread, like running or weight lifting.  (swimming would be something else I enjoy, but there's not freaking a pool near me)  Also, the added weight makes it hard to run.  When I was only 10 lbs heavier it had become very difficult.  I can't imagine what it would be like 22 (or 18 I guess) lbs heavier.  So, focus on Zumba, and lose a little weight before I jump back into running.
I dread what my cardiologist is going to say this year.  My check-up is looming.  :(

Monday JM 30 Day Shed Level 3 (25 minutes)

With some 5 lb weights and some 10 lb (but level 3 mostly uses body weight for resistance anyway). I'm still plugging along. I think Level 3 is getting me better results in the upper body lately. I might stick with it until I can do it all without going to my knees and with 10 lb weights.

Friday and Saturday Swimming + Running (65 minutes total)

Friday- swam laps for 30 minutes
Saturday- trail running through horrible slushy snow for 35 minutes.

Wednesday JM 30 day shred level 3 + extras (35 minutes)

I'm still getting better at some of the moves, but I had to do some plank/push up moves on my knees. I do about 1/2 of the workout with the 5 lb weights, and 1/2 with the 10 lb weight. I'm still using the 20 lb weights at the end. I also had to listen to a crying baby for most of the workout. He has a bad diaper rash and he is not happy about it.

I did the #2 and the #6 trail twice and the #5 trail once. The snow was harder packed today and less sloppy with slush and mud like last time. A very fun run!
