Friday--Running/ Walking 40 minutes

I have not gotten my groove back since being sick. I only ran/walked a little over 2 miles. I'm hoping I will catch back up with the running as soon as I'm done with the antibiotics (today!!!).

Tuesday--Strength 30 minutes

Finally! Back into exercise after a torrible double infection knocked me on my butt. I mixed in the 200 abs. I'm sore from yesterday because I re-arranged some furniture and cleaned out closets, and then fell down the stairs. I'm not sure which thing made me sorest ;)

Scared

I'm still feeling a bit sick. And to be honest, I'm petrified of taking a jog. I have been sick 5 times in the past 2 mos. So I'm putting exercising off a bit until I'm pretty sure I'm all better.
And here's an idea- I've informed Logan that I do not- under any circumstances want chocolate for Valentine's day. Instead I want to go to Sweet Tomatoes and have an awesome Valentine's day salad.

Cold Saturday

I ran with the group on Saturday. It was 10 degrees. It really wasn't too bad until I quit. Now I feel like a wuss for cancelling a couple of weeks ago because it was cold. Really, as long as you dress properly and keep your heart rate up, you don't get too cold. I don't anyway.

I ran around 6.5-7 miles.

Thinking

I'm thinking about doing weight watchers online. Some of my in-laws had success with it. It's like $65 for the first three mos. then $17/mo. I'm still on the fence about it. Has anyone else tried the online thing?

I'm Baaaaaaack!

Well, sort of, lol! The bronchitis is finally easing up, and the cartilage I tore in my rib cage coughing is healing nicely, so I jumped on my bike yesterday. 6 minutes, woohoo! Seriously, I felt like I was going to die after just six minutes, but hopefully things will get back to normal quickly.
I also had a doctor's appt just a couple of days ago, and I have to go get a big round of blood tests and ultrasounds to check various pieces of my anatomy, but my doctor is happy with my progress.
Good work to all you diehards out there who have not let up! Welcome back to some of the stragglers who have rededicated themselves to being fit! Let's try to get the whole troop back on track. If you know someone who hasn't been on in awhile, shoot them an email or a phone call letting them know they are missed. But all in all, awesome job everyone!!

Wednesday and Thursday

Took Wednesday off, had a little family emergency.
Thursday had a rough day at work, so I walked on the treadmill for 2 miles... a little over 30 minutes... then around 10 minutes on the bike. Not quite an hour today, but I'll just pick it up tomorrow.

Yesterday

I forgot to post yesterday. I went to the gym, and did 15 minutes on the wave machine, then I did 15 minutes on the stationary bike (Did I mention that all the machines save 2-3 have tvs attached to the front, so you can watch whatever you want? Also they play the best 80s music ever.), then I did strength training for about 30 minutes. Today I haven't done anything yet, and I'm debating. Launa was sick last night, and I'm feeling rather lazy. This is my last day of the free trial at the gym, though. I may go, or I may just stay home and do a dance party tonight. We'll have to see.

Monday and Tuesday

I finally did it.....ONE HOUR OF CARDIO!!!!
Going to try the one hour for a couple of weeks and then up it to an hour and a half.
Shins are killing me, but it's worth it!

Ahh, Much Better

Is there anything that makes you feel better than a good workout, a shower, and clean clothes? (Especially after you've been lazy and grotty for a couple of days.)

I ran 5 miles, average speed 6.6 mph.

Half hearted jogging

I'm using the word "jogging" only because I used the jogging stroller. I have found I can't get anything in during the weekend. But at least I haven't gained anything back!

Monday- Swimming 1 Hour

I have a bladder infection, or some kind of infection, that's keeping me from doing abs.
I also might have to bow out on exercise a few days this week if I do not stop feeling so yucky. My back hurts already from not doing abs!

Ladies Fitness

Stacey called me this morning and invited me to the "Group Active" class with her and Shelley. At first I told her 'no' because I had an appointment with my pillow, but then the kids woke up and Jeremy came home, so I was up anyway. I headed over to the gym. The class kicked my bottom. My whole body has been sore since Friday. I'm pretty puny, though. Hopefully the soreness will wear off soon.

Workin' Hard for the Money

I was extra motivated today and jogged this morning, then did pilates this afternoon. I have heard the other girls in on our "bet" have been working out a lot more than I have- so I'm trying to step it up!
I have lost 5 lbs. this week. (yay) Let's hope I can keep it up!

I'm Afraid It's True

I only come here when I've worked out. Whatta jerk I am sometimes. Anyway, my sisters have asked me to go to the gym with them and they got me a 7-day free pass to the Ladies' Fitness center. Last night they took me to the "Hip-Hop Abs" class, which was fun, if somewhat humiliating. They are going to the "Zumba" class tonight, but I have a hot date with the man of my dreams tonight, so I went by myself and used all the fun machines for an hour this morning. I feel surprisingly good considering I hate working out. I'll have to go every day since I have a free trial. After all, I don't want to waste it.

And I realized that I truly hate the stairmaster.... truly think it is the instrument of the devil. But no better way to get the heart rate up!

Winter Blues

I'm having a hard time getting up at 4:00 am to run with the group, especially since I'm not sure they will even be there, since most of them are wusses and won't run when it's under 20 degrees. (How's that for a run on sentence?) It's obviously too cold to run with the kids in the buggy. It gets dark too early, so running after Bruce gets home from work can't be at all counted on. All in all, I'm getting cabin fever, and feeling flabby.

I got my mother to watch the two younger kids so I could run with my brother Todd today. I just couldn't take doing the stupid stairs again. It was WINDY! Todd made me run faster than I'm used to, and we ran up one gigantic hill, plus the wind was terrible. So, after only 4 miles it was "Stick-a-fork-in-me-I'm-done!"

Wednesday- Running 45 minutes, Abs 15 minutes

Running Report- 3 miles in 45 minutes, but it was hard! I thought I wasn't going to make it since all the stuff I did yesterday took more out of me than I thought. I also pushed a little harder on abs since I missed my 200 crunches yesterday, so I worked them in today.

More Jogging + Pups

The planets aligned again today and I woke up at 5:30- really random. Took the dogs out jogging this time. I think it is a bit too cold for my tiny chihuahuas even with their coats on. I slipped on a patch of ice- and should have some nice hip-bruises tomorrow! Badges of workout honor!
...but I have to admit I'm exhausted.

Tuesday- Aerobics 1 hour, Strength 30 minutes

I'm not sure how much aerobic activity I actually got in today. I went to a Turbo Kick class at church, but today was a lot of showing the moves (for an hour and a half). Then I came home and did my standard strength workout.

Still working, lousy at posting

Just letting everybody know I am still working at it. In fact, this morning I was able to jog a thirteen minute mile. I can't even remember the last time I did that. (My body will probably be more than happy to remind me exactly how long it has been tomorrow morning.)
I have also started to trim back my eating habits a bit. Not to the point of becoming unhealthy of course, but definitely consuming less. Strangely, I have found myself eating a whole lot of lowfat yogurt. I originally bought it because my daughter loves it, but then I started eating it too. And I really liked it. Weird. But if it helps me svelte up, I'll go with it.

I absolutely could not sleep last night, so when hubby's alarm went off I got out of bed and started running, then walking. (at 6-freakin-am!) I hope this will work out. It only hinges on two factors- being able to get up this early again, and the girls not waking up early (like they did today).

Monday- Swimming 1 Hour Abs 10 minutes

So, I went off the grapefruit diet since I only lost 1 lb in 10 days, I think. I may weigh myself in a few more days. I'm back on a low sugar low calorie diet starting today. That seems to be more flexible for my kid filled lifestyle and it does not involve drinking yucky yucky grapefruit juice either.

Swimming- I felt great and it was a great workout! I was a little worried since I was sick for 4 days that I would not be able to swim for the full hour, but I did, and I swam great too. I even had energy leftover to do my abs for the day!

Thursday- Exercise Bike 50 minutes, Abs 10 minutes

Grapefruit Diet Day Ten--I weigh myself tomorrow. Hope it goes well. I had apples with dinner, and I'm pretty sure that's not on the diet. My throat is sore and I wanted something sweet.

I think I will try swimming tomorrow, and maybe skip strength training this week. Unless I squeeze it in on Saturday.

Seriously?

On top of having a cold- I busted my knee. (somehow- I haven't exactly been "going at it") Why does my body refuse to act my age? I'm only 25! Who has cranky knees at 25? I can tell when a storm is coming in because my knees creak! That is something my grandma would say- and she's in her late 70's!

...anyone know some good strength training for crappy knees?

Wednesday- Running/ Walking 45 minutes (3 miles again WOOT!)

Grapefruit Diet day nine-I switched out yogurt for skim milk on the after dinner snack, but that was the only semi-undiet thing I did now.

Running Report--I did 3 miles in 45 minutes, around Renae's house, so lots of hills that could have slowed me down, but did not! My left foot is a little tender again, so I may have to bow out Saturday. I will see how it goes.

Tuesday and Wednesday

30 minutes on the treadmill both days. And yes, got the shin splints yet again... :-(

Serious Motivation

So a couple girls in my ward are doing a weight loss contest. We're each kicking in $20 to the pot and whoever looses the most weight in 3 mos. wins the pot. I'm super excited! This is just the motivation I need- like a kick in the pants!

I am only exercising with the DVD- I am sick and feel like crap, so I'm going easy for a few days in hopes of getting better and not worse.

Tuesday- Running in Place/ Strength Workout 1 Hour

Grapefruit Diet Day Eight--Wow, I can't believe I've lasted this long. Good day today! Home stretch before my 2 days off (since it is 12 days on, 2 days off for this diet). I will re-evaluate after the 12 days to see if I lost enough weight to make 12 more days worth my while. I have no idea how I am doing since Aunt Flo is still visiting and I have to wait to weigh myself.

Exercise Report-- I was too chicken to take both kids out in the ice to Renae's house, so I will try and run tomorrow instead. I ran in place 30 minutes though, which is good for me, and got 200 crunches in there too.

Tuesday

30 minutes of stair running. Had to quit earlier than I wanted to because of a crying baby.

Monday-- Exercise Bike 50 minutes 10 minutes abs

Grapefruit Diet Days Six & Seven- I took a little 150 calorie carb break today, but that was the only deviation from the diet for the last two days. Yay!

I skipped the pool today because I was really tired, and I have been since Friday, so I thought I should take it easy and not over do it. I might try to go swimming Friday night if I can get a sitter.

Today

30 minutes on the treadmill today at work. And then 10 squats and 10 tricep dips when I got home. I thought I'd take it slow this week.

Just a Little Note...

...to let everyone know that the reason I haven't posted in an abhorrently long time is because I am, once again, sick. Bronchitis this time. I've never had it, and boy oh boy does it bite.
On the up side, my abs are getting a 24/7 workout like you wouldn't believe. But I don't recommend it. Awfully hard on the sleeping factor.
It's the new year, so I'll just say a couple of words of encouragement, as I'm about to fall over;
Get to It, people! The holidays are over. Time to punch in, and get to work! Some Dieting and Exercising

Yes, I do not like the grapefruit diet. Anything that takes me away from my raisin nut bran in the morning is just not happening. I need the raisin nuttiness to get through the day. And I don't really like meat- so I guess I was just kidding myself. There's no way this diet could work for me. :(
On an exercising front- I got a Wii Fit. I'm really excited. But the weigh in was really unfortunate. I have lost a ton of weight- but apparently that didn't stop the Wii from putting me in the "obese" catergory. Ouch! Then the Mii on the screen proceeded to blow up to unbelievable size. Great. Now I'm stuck with a chubby Mii for the duration of my workouts. The yoga was really hard! I'm still hopeful that it will be fun. It has to be better than the gym!

Saturday-- Running/Walking 45 minutes (3 miles!!!) Abs 10 minutes

Grapefruit Diet Day Five--I guess I'm going to technically go off this diet tonight since I will be skipping dinner for religious reasons (Fast Sunday). Other than that, I did super today. Only bummer- with my period starting yesterday it will probably be between 7 and 10 days before I know how much weight I actually lost on this #$&&%$ diet!

The Running Report--I've been fighting girl stuff fatigue all day, but I decided yesterday I was going to run today since I knew I would be too busy to run that day, and I stuck to it. I also went for the whole 3 miles this time, and did great! I ran the whole first mile (12 minutes) and then I did lots of running mixed with the walking for the next two miles. It felt great too to work out that hard again.

Vacations over

Things have been way too busy for the last couple of weeks for me to make it to the gym on a regular basis. Yes, I have admittedly been very bad. But I did make it there this morning. I had to slow my running back down, but I should be speeding back up in the next week or so. For now I am just concentrating on being able to run two miles. Then maybe I will work more on speed. We'll just see what happens.

Friday- No Exercise just diet

Grapefruit Diet Day Four-Liz taught me a trick-add salt to the grapefruit to take away the bitterness. It works! Today went well with the diet. I had wings with breading for dinner, and I don't think the breading is on the diet. Oh well ;)

My commitment

I'm making a commitment to myself and I need you guys to keep me accountable.
I am going to re-focus on my health, my 'svelteness' if you will....
Since I have felt so bad the last few weeks, I haven't done anything in the exercise department. But the desire, will and determination are back... and they are strong. I'm going to do it this time!

Tuesday and Thursday

I ran 5 1/2 ish miles Tuesday morning with the early birds. I didn't bring my Garmin, so I don't know how fast it was.



I ran with my brother, Todd today. He is recovering from tendinitis, so he is running slower than he used to on purpose, trying to ease back into it. So for the time being we are good running partners. I slow him down, and he speeds me up. We ran 3 miles at 6.8 mph average. I dropped him off at home and continued for 2.5 miles alone on the hilly route, average speed only 6.1 mph because I was tired after running fast with Todd, and the hills made it worse. Good workout.

Thursday- Strength Workout with running in place- 1 Hour

Day Three of the Grapefruit Diet--My body is getting used to dieting again. Yay! The hunger pains and intense cravings have stopped, and I'm mostly just suffering from caffeine withdrawal at this point since I had a caffeinated soda every day of Christmas week. Why is it so easy to get addicted to caffeine? I swear it's more insidious than heroin and definitely more ubiquitous.

Also, getting back into working out after my easy workout week last week is taking its toll in adding fatigue as well. I hope to be back up to speed and still doing well by Monday.

Wednesday- Exercise Bike 50 minutes

Grapefruit Diet Day Two--Only day two, and I already cheated. Dang. I just had half a piece of pumpkin dump cake that I made for my little New Year's Eve get together. I made it with Splenda though!

In exercise news--I was worried that my bottom would go back to hurting like crazy since I missed the exercise bike last week, but no! Yay to not sore bottoms!
