Yesterday
I did 50 minutes of Martial Arts yesterday. Felt a lot better than last time. We worked on technique a lot, ect. Which is just as hard as I remember it! We did kicks and such veeeeeeeeeery slowly, and then held them at their full extension for a slow count of five. Good way to tighten up your technique and build muscle at the same time! Ouchie! Then afterward working on power. Not so much speed, though. That'll come later when things are feeling a little more oiled. All in all though, very good workout. (And uber cathartic! Two birds! One stone! I love it!)

Oh what a difference 10 degrees makes! It felt so much nicer today than it did yesterday.
Also- shopping, running around, and the park with the kids for a couple of hours total.

Two Days
Hey ladies!
Yesterday I went to the pool with the family for an hour. Did several laps, and generally didn't stop moving the whole time, except to catch my breath.
Today, I did 15 minutes on the yoga ball. Definitely improving there. I need to give it more time slots in my week.

Also- up and down the stairs all day doing laundry. This heat is killing me! Today would have been a run day, but no way with 105 temps.

Renae Update
Sell I don't remember when I posted last, so I'll just give you the run down of my last week or something like that. I have never been so ready for the stupid Triathlon to just freaking get here. Usually I feel like "Oh crap! It's just around the corner, and I'm not as ready as I wanted to be!" This year it is more like "Come on already, I'm sick of this training like CRAZY!" I set myself a hard P.R. to break last year, having knocked THREE MINUTES off of my previous P.R. My goal is to set another P.R., but it will be tough. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win my division this year, but we'll see. I'm in one of the toughest age divisions there is. It's possible, but certainly no guarantee. Heck, I may not even place. I'm not sure who will win between Bruce and I. It's going to be an all out race. He out swims me - hands down, no comparison. I'm better on the bike, and the run is a pretty good match - although he has beat me the last two runs we've done together, and he's getting faster all the time. I may lose to him. That's fine though.
OKAY, enough jabber about that. Here's what I've been up to:
I don't remember much about last week. lol! I know I worked hard. I did the Tuesday night ride (and apparently accidentally started a family feud lol!) I ran a few times, and biked twice, and swam a few times. We did a brick on Saturday. I also did Jillian and my Kettlebell routine.
So far this week:
Monday: Biked HARD and hilly for 40 minutes, followed by a quick 20 minute swim
Tuesday: Biked with Team Godzilla. I did two Whiteside loops, so that's somewhere around 23ish miles, with two ugly hills and a few rollers. I averaged 18.3 mph (but there was new gravel on a couple of miles worth of roads, so I had to go slower than I normally would have.) The heat was HORRIBLE!!!
Wednesday: I ran 4 miles with Bruce's group. My average speed was about 8:19 minute miles (We then walked one mile for a cool down.) I'm doing a Jillian workout as soon as I get off of the computer, and I plan on swimming this evening.
The plan for the rest of the week is as follows:
Thursday: Run 6 miles with my group.
Friday: Essentially the exact same as today, but swap Jillian for a Kettlebell routine.
Saturday: 15 mile bike, 3 mile run, then swim

Up to date- Kajukenbo, biking and escrima
So it appears my last post was last year. (This does seem to let you search by poster so it will have to be.) Sorry for the disappearance.
In summary...
I made 2nd degree black belt in Kajukenbo on 10/13/11.
I started taking an Escrima class in May or June.
I joined myfitnesspal.com in May by osmosis from seeing Timpani on it and me beginning to look at my stomach askance.
I started riding the SWEET 21 speed bike Timpani picked up at a yard sale for a song.
I have lost 15 lbs. and counting since May!
I am pretty happy w/the progress. I'm not particularly dieting just being mindful what I eat and upping the exercise level.
One of my milestones has been, riding the bike to Edwardsville Esic YMCA and then back from my friend's house in Edwardsville. (I did this because my car was not to be driven and due to be repaired, I had driven T's car all week and did not wish to strand her again w/Puckettlings, I had my escrima class and a D & D game in Edwardsville.) The plan was 20 miles. In turned into 26 because of me getting confused on bike paths. The best part was not feeling dead at the end. It was not like that it did not happen, but I was not a complete waste after it.
Red Green: "Remember, I'm pulling for ya. We're all in this together."

The Last Week in a Nugget
Hey ladies!
So, last week I was sick for a few days, so not much exercising going on. I did weigh in though, and...*drumroll*....
I'VE LOST 35 POUNDS!! I've lost all of my medication induced weight gain!!!! I still have five pounds to go for my ultimate goal, but I am SO JAZZED that I lost all of that weight that was never my stinking fault. BOOYAH!
Today, as I'm all better, I did 20 min. of dance. :D

Friday Running 5 miles (1 hour, 10 minutes)
With 2 miles at kid "scooter pace" (there and back, with the kids playing at the park in between). It felt so good to run tonight because it was only 80 degrees! What a difference 15 degrees makes ;)
Also- ran around with the kids all day running errands, and helping my brother fix the AC in my car. The AC is fixed and works great now! Just in time for the next heat wave.
Yesterday- I did 90 minutes of heavy duty yard chores since I was way behind.

Wednesday Trail Running 55 minutes + Strength 20 minutes (arms and abs)
I did the strength workout earlier in the day with 10 lb free weights and 50 push ups mixed in (in 10 push up sets). Mostly standing abs.
It was 97 degrees when I started running tonight! I think it was slightly cooler in the woods though. I can't
remember when I've been that hot and thirsty. I was armed with a shoulder pack of cold drinks too, but it was like an unquenchable thirst :P
Also- a small amount of laundry and nothing else. I think yesterday was my productive day for the week ;)

Monday Running 4 miles (50 minutes)
Plus, took the kids toy shopping for a birthday party that was tiring for some reason. I got a little sick in the afternoon, but my run felt good just like Saturday!
Saturday & Monday
On Friday evening, Bruce told me that he was going to beat me at our brick we had planned for Saturday. I should thank him for the motivation. Saturday was a total race. (I won fairly handily. Thank you very much!)
16 miles on the bike
2 miles running
Today I did week 3 Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. It's still a killer.

Saturday Running 5 miles + push up sets (85 minutes total)
The push ups were thrown in since I only had one strength workout this week. Around the 1/2 mark I alternated 10 push up sets with a few minutes of running in between sets. 50 push ups total!!! The push ups seemed to help give me more pep. Also, I think not having morning sickness AT ALL today really helped. I hope its gone for good.
Also- took three kids to the grocery store for an hour and then another hour at the park.

Saturday
I think I've found a good coping device for the PTSD--marital arts, lol! John and I did MA for 50 minutes today, and it felt great. I just envisioned you-know-who's face, and boy oh boy, did that give me the oomph I needed, lol! The first part of the workout was pretty easy going cardio, but the last part had me dripping sweat, so really good workout altogether. :D

I biked 28.5 miles with a lot of hills today, then ran most of a mile. Oh, I forgot to mention that yesterday's push-ups I did the real way- no girly style. That's a first for me! Maybe I am getting somewhere with that. The form was not great though.

Thursday Exercise Bike + strength 45 minutes
I did a 45 minute workout alternating exercise bike with Jillian Michaels style strength moves. I also worked in 35 push ups at the end. 30 minutes total on the bike and 15 minutes total on strength.
Also, 30 minutes of watering and weeding in the garden.

Gr.
So, I did my yoga ball. 12 min, and I'm improving. I could do more reps this time around.
I haven't been very good at working out. Having some PTSD problems here lately, and it's making life...weird. I'm trying to get better, so hopefully I can post on here more!

Wednesday & Thursday
Wednesday I was fairly lazy. I did go "swimming" with Bruce. I put the quotes in there because I am TERRIBLE at swimming! I'm trying to learn how to actually swim correctly, but I am REALLY struggling just to learn the breathing. At this point, it's more of a exercise in frustration than in actually calorie burning.
Thursday: Two halves equal a whole? I was too lazy to get up and run with the group, and then I didn't want to take off and miss my breakfast time with Bruce before work. Then the kids got up, and I made breakfast for them too. So... by the time I got out the door to run, it was 9:30, which for overheating Renae is not really a good thing. I went 5 miles, but I stopped at every water fountain along the way, to refill my water bottle. Thankfully our town has quite a few of those. I ran about 4.25 miles, and walked about 0.75 mile. But even the 4.25 was fragmented. Then I came home and did a workout video. I wanted to do something different, so I decided to go back and revisit Jillian Ripped in 30 week 1 (which I haven't done in about 6 months.) I knew it would be easier, but I thought I could still make a decent workout of it as long as I did the advanced versions and upped the weights. It mostly worked. It does make me feel good though, remembering how hard I thought that video was when I was just starting out. I've come a long way.

I'm Still Here and Kicking it Hard
I'm glad to see that you both Liz and Timpani are still posting. I'd apologize for not posting, but lets face it, I just suck.
However, I am really feeling quite mighty lately. I've been sticking with my strength training. I've been doing it religiously twice a week since my come back from surgery in early February. I usually do Angie Miller's Kettlebell video (I have moved up to a 15 lb kettlebell) once a week, and I do a session of Jillian Ripped in 30 week 3 or 4, once a week. I have not lost any weight. In fact, I have even put in a few lbs, and am now dangerously close to 160. However, I'm trying not to think about that. Bruce says I'm stupid to let that bother me, since I'm weight training. Honestly, most days I feel pretty good about my weight, even at 158.
I've been running fairly regularly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and I've been biking with Terry twice a week. I'm even starting to throw some swim sessions in there too.
I'm gearing up to be in top shape for WR tri! I did the 4th of July biathlon, and alas, the weather SUCKED!!! I was 2 minutes slower than last year, but that's okay. I still won my age group, plus I learned a couple of things. I learned that I REALLY need to get my seat adjusted now that I have my new aero-bars (I got them put on the day before the race, and the new angle was VERY ouchie on my female parts after about 7 miles.) It's really hard to push when you are in so much pain that you want to scream. I also learned that on a really hot day I need to put ICE water in my water bottles when I run. Squirting hot water on your head is not nearly as effective, as cold water.
Alright, I'm rambling.
So far this week: 1 hour of kettlebelling with Angie Miller.

I know I forgot to log in some workouts. Just busy busy busy lately. The one I can remember I did with Mary. 20 minutes of dance. I surprised myself there! Plus lots of pool time. Not necessarily laps, but playing with the kids for a couple of hours counts in my honest opinion, lol!
Today I did ten minutes of abs on the yoga ball. I'm loving the challenge there! I really feel like I'm hitting those abs in all the right places. :D

Monday Running 4 miles (50 minutes)
I actually got up at 5:30am to go running this morning! I was so proud of myself. I went back to sleep 3 hours later since the 2 year old was still asleep, but it still counts!
Plus, one hour swimming with the kids. I mostly stood in the pool and watched S go down the kiddy pool slide over and over again. We had to escape from our stuffy house this afternoon!
