Wednesday I was fairly lazy. I did go "swimming" with Bruce. I put the quotes in there because I am TERRIBLE at swimming! I'm trying to learn how to actually swim correctly, but I am REALLY struggling just to learn the breathing. At this point, it's more of a exercise in frustration than in actually calorie burning.
Thursday: Two halves equal a whole? I was too lazy to get up and run with the group, and then I didn't want to take off and miss my breakfast time with Bruce before work. Then the kids got up, and I made breakfast for them too. So... by the time I got out the door to run, it was 9:30, which for overheating Renae is not really a good thing. I went 5 miles, but I stopped at every water fountain along the way, to refill my water bottle. Thankfully our town has quite a few of those. I ran about 4.25 miles, and walked about 0.75 mile. But even the 4.25 was fragmented. Then I came home and did a workout video. I wanted to do something different, so I decided to go back and revisit Jillian Ripped in 30 week 1 (which I haven't done in about 6 months.) I knew it would be easier, but I thought I could still make a decent workout of it as long as I did the advanced versions and upped the weights. It mostly worked. It does make me feel good though, remembering how hard I thought that video was when I was just starting out. I've come a long way.

For swimming, have you tried alternating between freestyle and back stroke? Half lap (or one pool length) freestyle, half lap back stroke? That would give you a break from the breathing and just get your arms and legs used to working together. The breathing is the hardest part, but I think you can do it if you keep plugging away at it!
