Thursday Yoga 30 minutes

Plus- nature walking with the kids for 2 1/2 hours. I was holding the baby in a baby sling the whole time and my back was killing me. That was the main reason for the yoga. Still doing the Total Yoga tape I bought about a month ago.

Yoga is more about stretching and pulling the tension out of your muscles. It's about learning how to relax your body and clear your mind. It's one of the best ways to relieve muscle tension in the back, in my opinion. When I did Pilates videos, I felt like I was just doing a strength workout using poses that sort of looked like yoga poses. I did not feel the tension release benefits.

I would recommend taking a class since I get so much more out of my tape since I took a class at the YMCA. The class is just very helpful in doing the poses in such a way that you release tension the best. But, at home yoga practice lets me clear my mind of everything else. In the class, I was self-conscious and also conscious of the other people in the class. I enjoy yoga for releasing tension, which I think helps me get injured less often since overly tense muscles tend to rip and tear more easily. I also enjoy it because it helps me sleep better at night.
