Monday Strength Workout (50 minutes)

10 sets of 10 push ups, 10 sets of 5 assisted pull ups, 3 sets of 10 chair dips, 3 sets of 20 calf raises, 3 sets of 6 dead lifts (80 lbs), 3 sets of 8 squats. Plus, 5 minutes of abs. I stopped doing crunches and just do side abs and lower abs. It seems to be more effective in tapering my waist.

I've added in "harder push ups" for 4 out of the 8 sets of push ups. I put my feet up on two steps for those 4 sets to add more resistance. I'm still using the pull ups assist strap to do upright pull ups too. 8 sets of those as well. Plus, calf raises, chair dips, dead lifts, squats, and I added bench presses this week (160 lbs on that).

Friday Strength Workout 50-55 minutes

That was an epic strength workout at the YMCA. I just am not used to working out at a real gym, so I was like a kid a in a candy store. I wanted to try out all the machines! I used the Smith machine for squats, used a 90 lb bar for dead lifts, an 80 lb bar for hack squats, did australian pull ups (6 sets), and push ups (5 sets). I also used two different leg press machines, a chest press machine, and a hip abductor machine. It was lots of fun. I went there because for 2 weeks basic Y members can use the Fitness center for free.

My strength workout usually is shorter at home, so I added 5 minutes of ab work at the end (including 100 crunches). 

I also did 90 minutes of tree trimming yesterday which was so hard I was shaking afterwards.

Wed Strength Workout (45 minutes)

I took out squats because they seem to aggravate my knees.

Here's what I did today- 3 sets of pull ups with the pull up assist strap. 3 sets of australian pull ups hands over bar, but with feet elevated this time to add more resistance. 3 sets of australian pull ups hands UNDER bar, but with feet elevated this time to add more resistance. I mixed in 9 sets of 10 push ups into that (90 push ups total). I also did calf raises on a stair, alternated with chair dips (3 sets each). I then went upstairs and did deadlifts alternated with hip thrusts (3 sets of each). I hooked my leg up to the bow flex and did front, back & side leg raises with 50 lbs of resistance on the band (3 sets each, both legs). I'm hoping the hip thrusts and back leg raises will be enough glute work to make up for taking time off squats for now.

I swam a mile (35 laps). I was slower because I did 8 back stroke laps instead of 5. I also wore a knee brace for the first 25 laps or so, and then took it off for the last 10 laps.

22 laps. I used a knee brace to help with the knee pain I had while swimming last week. It helped hold off the pain longer, but still started hurting around lap 17 or 18. I will keep using the brace during swimming until the knee gets all better.

Used my sister's kitchen chairs and a curtain rod to do australian pull ups. Altered that with push ups, chair dips, and sumo squats. Did a million squats with 10 lb weights too.

9 sets of inverted rows and push ups. 3 sets of chair dips, 3 sets of calf raises, 3 sets of hack squats, 3 sets of dead lifts, 3 sets of sumo dead lifts, 3 sets of hip thrusts, and 3 sets each of two different kinds of squats. I increased the weight from 50 to 65 lbs for the hack squats, dead lifts, sumo dead lifts, and one kind of bar squat.

I did my usual body weight training strength workout with extras. 9 sets of australian pull ups, 9 sets of push ups, 3 sets of chair dips,3 sets of calf raises. All with 50 lb bar- 3 sets of hack squats, 3 sets of hip thrusts, 3 sets of sumo squats, 3 sets of bar squats front held bar, 3 sets of bar squats back held bar, and 3 sets of shoulder presses.

20 laps- 10 freestyle, 5 back stroke, 5 freestyle, 2 laps of kickboard with flippers.

10 sets of 10 push ups, 10 sets of 5 australian pull ups (I used a stick on the back of two kitchen chairs this time since I do not have a pull up bar at home), 4 sets of 6 chair dips, 2 different kinds of squats (3 sets of 12 X 2), some chest presses with 30 lbs of weights, and some shoulder presses with 20lbs of weight.

Plus, hours and hours of cleaning. I have a feeling I will be mighty sore tomorrow :P

I moved this old frame for a stand alone porch swing we had. It has a bar across the top of the frame which I used for Australian pull ups (with my feet propped up on the porch). I alternated with push ups and ab work as usual. I have also added chair dips to work the back of my arms. I did 12 sets of 5 australian pull ups and 12 sets of 10 push ups.

Plus, 2 hours of yard work.

10 sets of 5-6 inverted rows (australian pull ups, 50 or so total) and 10 sets of 10 push ups (100 push ups total). I'm also trying to add in other body weight training exercises and hope to get over 30 minutes with my strength workouts soon.

Monday Strength Workout (20 minutes)

I did australian pull ups (11 sets of 6, 66 total), push ups (11 sets of 10, 110 total) and a bunch of ab work mixed in. I'm already seeing progress with these workouts which is very nice. I also did two "dead hangs" with all my body weight of 15 seconds each (supposed to get up to 30 seconds). 

Also- chased my toddler around an office for an hour because my brother had an appointment I took him to.

More also- one hour of cleaning and one hour of yard work.

I did 10 sets 6-10 of Australian pull ups mixed in with 10 sets of 10 push ups (100 push ups total). I used playground equipment because I saw an article that showed someone doing that. It was fun to do something at the playground besides just sit around and watch my kids play.

This is out of order. Oh well. I did 8 sets of Australian pull ups and standard pulls mixed in with 8 sets of 10 push ups (80 push ups total).

Tuesday Running + Strength workout (60 minutes)

I ran a practice 5k with my 9 yr old for her GOTR 5k race they are running in 2 weeks. We did that in about 40 minutes. I also did a strength workout today with 8 sets of 5 half pull ups (40 half pull ups total) and 8 sets of 10 push ups (80 push ups total) mixed in with more lawn mowing. All this rain we are getting is making the grass grow fast!

Saturday Trail Running 1 hour

The moved some things around on the #1 trail out at SIUE, but I was able to navigate through okay. I will have to explore some more out there and try to lengthen my run using the #1 and #3 trails together. Lots of fun, but very humid today. I could feel the air sticking to me.

Friday Strength Workout (about an hour)

I did 10 sets of 10 push ups (100 total) mixed in with 10 sets of 5 half pull ups (50 total). I also worked in lawn mowing and 11 lb free weights for my arms and upper body. I'm trying to work up to doing full pull ups eventually.
