Wednesday Running 1 hour (5 miles?)

 I hope I got five miles out of that. It was on a paved bike path through the woods. It had a fun zig zag uphill part that I enjoyed too. I was trying to find this side dirt trail I saw when I was out biking, but I never found it. I'll have to park on the other side and try to find it from there next time.

Tuesday Swimming 1 hour

My times were a little off because I had to do 2 extra freestyle laps to make up for my sluggish backstroke times I kept getting. I still got a mile in 52 minutes, and then 8 minutes of kick board at the end. I was flying on the freestyle. Maybe I should start doing backstroke sprints? 

Also-1 hour of housework, 15 minutes of gardening.

Monday Women's Warrior Workout DVD (30 minutes)

Women's Warrior Workout Review- Yeah, she claims this is a 40 minute workout, but the 5 minutes of yapping (which I fast forwarded through) at the beginning and 5 minutes of stretching at the end does not really count. It's a basic strength workout that is supposed to make you strong enough to defend yourself, using your body weight only, no weights. So, for a great strength workout that you don't need any fancy equipment for, this one is great. I especially like the arm workout which was 4 different push up forms, repeated twice. I'm going to be feeling that tomorrow! I'm thinking I will mix this in with JM workouts for my strength workouts from now on.

Wednesday Biking 1 hour 15 minutes

Yeah, that was about it. I had some bad family stuff going on with my mom's husband being in the ICU, and I did not think I was going to get any exercise at all today. The ICU was closed from 6-8pm to visitors, so I figured I could de-stress a little with an evening ride.

Gosh, is it only Wednesday?  Feels like it should be later.
I did bike/elliptical today.  I only got 18 minutes though.  I'm just feeling a little tired and run down today for some reason.  Probably stressing about leaving in three days for vacation and all the stuff that needs done before then.  Still, at least I did something!

Moooooooonday

I had a Dr.'s appt for my fungus toenail today.  The swelling is much better, and my doc thinks it looks good.  She told me how to keep it from getting infected when we go on our vacation to the beach in FIVE DAYS. 
Today was a weigh day and I gained two pounds.  But I'm not counting them because they were not my fault.
I also took a 45 minute, vigorous walk with my neighbor friend.  I LOVED it, but now my recently broken toe hurts and is swollen.  *yet more fist shaking*  Next time I go, I'm going to tape it up really well, with cotton balls and stuff to keep it in place.  But I still got a 45 minute walk!  With hills!  >:)

I did 31 minutes bike and elliptical today.  No housework, though, lol!  Still, a three minute improvement on yesterday, and I worked even harder today than yesterday.  Toes still hurt.  *shakes fist vigorously*

Friday

Well, I did it!  I did some lighter cleaning this morning, so I was able to get a conventional workout in.  And all of my running around at school and heavy housework has paid off!  I was able to do 27 minutes of bike and elliptical, and I was able to work harder than I had been able to before.  I actually could have gone longer, but I'm having two kinds of toe problems now.  The broken one, which IS better.  My doctor told me to get sandals with a heel strap (oh, twist my arm to go shoe shopping, lol!), instead of flip-flops so the ball of my foot could relax, and that is helping a lot.  (plus the sandals are super cute. ;) )  The other toe problem is a fungus-y toenail.  That in itself has not been a big deal, but I cleaned the tub in one bathroom and the shower in the other yesterday and the day before, and was standing in water with all the dirt and cleaner in it, and that seems to have irritated it, or kicked off some kind of infection.  It's all swollen and red, and it hurts.  Liz Luck strikes again, lol!  I'm going to go see my doctor about it on Monday, unless it's better by then.  But since I can at least do some working out, I will continue to as much as it will let me.  *shakes fist at all toes*

This Week

Um.  I think I last posted on Monday.  So, Tuesday I did Aloha day outside with the kids at school.  Kind of like field day, only shorter.  Only 45 min instead of 3 hours.  Then yesterday I did heavy duty cleaning for 1 1/2 hours.  Trying to get the house in tip-top shape before we leave for vacation in a week and two days.  Did about an hour of heavy duty cleaning today.  I think I'll do some lighter stuff tomorrow and Saturday, so I can get a more conventional work out in.  I like being more active!  I feel like my old self.  Like, before I got pregnant and sick the first time with Jonni.  I don't think I've had this much purely physical recovery time since then.  Now I just have to get the hang of house-holdy stuff.  I've never been well enough to really learn the right ways to keep my house in order.  Intimidated!  Overwhelmed!  But one bite at a time, I'm starting small.  One room of the house, and then when I've got that mastered, I'll radiate out.  And hopefully teach my kids some better habits along with me.  They have to help me with the one room, lol!  I'm paying them though, so that sweetens the pot. :D

My Monday

So, again today, not a conventional workout.  I worked at school again.  I was going to do a workout when I got home, but I'm spent!  Those ladies really have me running all over with the end of the year stuff.  I love it, though!
Aaaaaaaaaand, today was a weigh day.  I lost three pounds!!  What the what?!  This crazy way I've been losing is so frustrating, but it's nice when I get a big drop like that, lol!  I am now 1 pound from my vacation goal weight, which is a week from Friday.  I mean, what the freak.  Four weeks ago there was no mathematical way to lose enough to meet my goal by vacation.  Not that I'm complaining!!  That also means that I'm eleven pounds away from my Ultimate Goal.  Hello old body, how I've missed you!!  I am fluffier that I was the last time I was at this weight, but that's because of the sore lack of work outs.  Now that I'm back in my groove (you hear that, toe?!), that should change, I hope quickly.  My goal by the end of the summer is to start one of those Jillian weight workouts on video.  My weight goal is to hopefully hit my Ultimate Goal by the end of the summer.  :D

Satutrday Trail Running 1 1/2 hours

I was wearing my Vibrams. That was the longest I have EVER ran, and definitely the longest I have ran on a single file dirt trail! Woot for progress! 

In diet news- I think I'm going to go back to 1600-1700 calories a day. I had yet ANOTHER week of only eating 1200-1300 calories a day and not losing a single ounce. I think my muscles might be getting canabalized at this point. I'm going to try and build muscle for about a month with extra protein, and then jump back into the old diet.

I did 21 minutes of alternating bike and elliptical, and I was going to do more, but I've had an upset tummy since last night, and I didn't make it.  Still, really good week for me!  Woowoo!

Thursday Running 1 hour 20 minutes (while pushing the jogging stroller)

I went exploring at "The Gardens" at SIUE. It only took me about 7 minutes to go around the gardens (with the jogging stroller), but it hooks up with a paved biking trail that I went down too. I explored a gravel bike trail, and a grassy cross country trail off the paved trail as well. I also scoped out some single file dirt trails I will explore on Saturday for my trail run. S was so good in the jogging stroller today so I could get my long run! AND, that was her second run in the jogger this week, when she usually only gets one a week, so I was doubly impressed with her being good the whole time. 

ETA- I also went back with the older kids later in the day and walked around for two hours (at toddler pace).

My Wednesday

So, no conventional work out today, but I helped out at school, where they keep me pretty hoppin'.  Especially now that it's the end of the year, the teachers (and not just my kids' teachers, but a bunch of the other ones poach me as well), run me on endless errands from one end of the school to the other.  Several hundred times.  All day long.  Lol!  So, if I come home a limp, wrung out human being, and completely exhausted, that counts, right?  :D

Biking 1 hour

I'm an idiot who did not realize I bought a 21 SPEED bike. I only saw the 7 speeds on the right, I did not notice the dial on the left (with three notches). Ha ha, yeah. I did really FAST on the way back when I turned it to the second notch. More tension, but my legs handled it really well. Here's how much faster I went: the way there, 35 minutes, and then I turned around. The way back- 20 minutes! So, almost twice as fast with the bike turned to a higher tension notch. I then biked around for another 5 minutes to get my whole hour. My mom, who watched S while I biked, and I looked over the bike and figured out from some scrapings along the right side that it has been in an accident too. My bike has some history ;)

Recent Activity

Firstly, when did blogger switch to this new stupid look?  I hate it.
Secondly, last week I did nothing.  And I didn't lose anything either.
This week, I also didn't lose anything.  (curse you menopause!!)  BUT, I did 17 minutes biking/elliptical yesterday, and 22 minutes today.  BOOYAH!  That's right, I'm back, baby!!
