Wednesday Running/Walking 35-40 minutes (with one BIG hill)

I ran 2 miles and then had to walk the last 1/2 mile. I was too busy today and I was running on really bad sleep. My cold/sinus infection also seems to have gotten worse. Blargh.

Also- took four boxes of very heavy food storage items down to my basement (it took four trips from my car to my basement). My arms are wobbly so I count it as a strength workout.

Monday Running 2 1/2 miles 35 minutes (with one BIG hill)

I was running with a cold, so that BIG hill about did me in. I had to walk the last half of it. I feel better though, as usual.

Also- took care of three sick kids and one VERY sick husband.

I forgot- I lost ANOTHER 2 lbs last week on the diabetic diet. Holy Body Snatchers Batman!

Saturday Total Yoga 45 minutes

I did the Total Yoga tape I have again.

I meant to weigh myself this morning. I will weigh in tomorrow and see if I made progress on that front. I did work out 5 times this week though, including running three times. Woot!

Also- grocery shopped with three kids (but a husband to help, so not as hard as usual).

Friday Running 25 minutes (2 miles with BIG hills)

I ran 2 miles in about 25 minutes, so it was a fast short run (for me, with hills and all). I'm going to push myself next week to get back up to 3 miles again!

Martial arts mania

To catch up, have been consistently working w/the kids. Having to drag QQ through 30 minutes, but she can hate me later. :)

Week before last did a street clothes Kajukenbo class. Practiced forms w/ debris (striking pads, medicine ball and kicking shields.) Talked about limits of clothing on fancy (high kicks) techniques and the limits of grappling on cement vs. the mat. Also, talked about improvised weapons (keys, belts and ice scrapers.) Reviewed awareness and avoidance. Good times.

Today, I suited up w/as much padding as we had and did street attacks w/a stick and empty hand while the students defended. (Street attack being wild swings, grab and punch and football kicks)Looked something like this starting at 0:22. Every student had something they consistently did. The police office who trains w/us found the takedowns. The blue belt groin kicked. The yellow belt ducked and shot in. The other black belt did a lot of armbar takedowns like this. (Not happy w/that example, but it's the best that I could find.) It was silly, willy fun-fun.


Ran 6 miles with the group this morning. It wasn't easy, but I survived.

Rough Week

Well, I was sick for Monday and Tuesday, and I wrenched my knee a little this week, so I've been laying off the working out until today. I'm all better (yay for immune systems!), and my knee feels fine, so I did a dancing workout today. (bike is still broken) Also, the cool down stretching whatever. I think it was a little over 20 minutes.

Wednesday Running 25 minutes (2 miles FLATS)

No good bad horrible day. Blargh.


I can't believe how fast I lose ground!!! It's only been a week and two days since my last work out. Today was my first day that I'm allowed to work out after my surgery last week. It was soo freaking hard! Maybe I'm just having an off day. It happens. I did the stairs. I only made it to 30 minutes (I usually do 40.) I stopped to breathe SEVERAL times. Ugh. Oh well, I just keep going from where I am.

On an up note, I feel completely back to normal, as far as my surgery area goes.

30 minutes exercise bike (with two 2 minute "swatting flies" chest exercise mixed in), 10 minutes standing abs.

Also- 45 minutes of big shovel heavy duty type yard work.

Saturday Running 40 minutes (3 miles FLATS)

Woot! Running outside felt so awesome (though really really wet, the whole world looks like it is melting). Sunshine! Glorious sunshine!

Not my best time, but I have not run outside in awhile, so I call it win!

Also- I lost the last THREE pounds of that "holiday weight" this week. IN A WEEK!!! That NEVER happens for me! I'm guessing nursing is helping me lose weight? Down to pre-baby weight again. I'm going to keep up with the diabetic diet to see if I can lose more weight (fingers crossed!).

Forgot to Post!

I got busy yesterday and forgot to post.
My bike is broken, there's a belt or something loose/broken and it won't work. Big bummer! I'm going to take it apart and see if I can fix it soon. So, instead, I did a 15 minute dance workout yesterday, but I skipped the parts where you hop on one foot because of my ankle. And, I'll admit, there was a minute or two in there where I just had to rest. Then I did the cool down/stretch on the same DVD instead of the Pilates one. It was also a good stretch, and it was good to mix things up a little.
Very busy today, but hoping to get a workout in sometime.

Thursday Kickboxing 40 minutes (with standing abs mixed in)

I just mixed up some kickboxing on my own while I watched a movie. My back hurt less today (maybe my body getting used to standing abs?) and I noticed that I look slimmer in the upper back. I also look slimmer in the torso when I lose weight, so I'm weighing myself on Saturday or Sunday to see if that explains the change, or if standing abs every day for a week is just that effective that I see a noticeable change that quickly.

Chugging Along

Same workout as yesterday, except I did 12 minutes @ 12ish mph for a total of 2.3 miles covered, and then the same Pilates stretching workout. My ankle feels better, I think the stretches are helping.
@Timpani--it might be shoes, but I'm home so much that I really don't wear them that often...who knows. ;P

Wednesday Running in place + Strength (Arms, Standing Abs) 45 minutes

Running in place- 30 minutes total, with two segments of five minutes each where I run backwards and forwards across the living room. Arm exercises with two 10lb free weights. Standing abs again because I am testing the theory that standing ab work is better than crunches (saw this on an article on Yahoo! News). So far, I'm just getting a lot of upper back aches, which kind of goes against the reason I like to do abs in the first place (because they keep me from getting backaches).


Okay, so it's been a tough couple of weeks, and I thought to myself, it's time to get back on things!! I've gained around 7 lbs back, and that needs to come right back off! Then I hurt my ankle last night. I don't even know what happened! I put all my weight on it and leaned over a little to turn a lamp off, and it's been all angry at me since. So, today I did some very light biking, just 10 minutes at around 11.5 mph (and my bike is making a weird nose, and upon closer inspection the pedals are loose, which I blame John for, since he is SO HARD on all my exercise stuff! I'll have to see if can re-tighten them later) for a total of 1.9 miles covered. Then, I did 10 minutes of Pilates, and this specific workout centered on stretching, which I think I need. So, it all felt pretty good, and I'll probably repeat it tomorrow.

I was going to go running this morning at Renae's but my car would not start this morning. God sent me some people to fix it later in the day, so it all ended really well though. And, I still had time to work out today (at 10pm, but hey! you take what you can get).

Saturday Exercise Bike + Standing Abs (40 minutes)

Exercise Bike- 30 minutes, standing abs- 10 minutes.

I gained 5 lbs over the last few months, but last week and this week I lost 1 lb each week. Woot! 3 more lbs to go to lose that "holiday/winter weight". I hate backtracking! I lost all my baby weight, it should just stay gone goshdarnit! I'm not cutting calories (because of nursing), I'm just cutting carbs (going back on the diabetic diet I was on for the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy). It's a super easy diet. I eat 6 times a day. I can only have 15-30 carbs per eating, except dinner when I can have 45 carbs. I like it because I don't have to count calories for the whole day, I just can't carbs for each time I eat.

Thursday Kickboxing 45 minutes (kicks, combos, core training)

I finally finished the Kickbox Core Cross Train DVD. I did the kicks, combinations, and 1/2 of the core training section today. The combination section was my favorite section, but unfortunately also the shortest section (only ten minutes). I definitely felt like I get a good ab (or core) workout with this DVD, but some of the other sections seem just a little too easy, and she talks way too much for me to really enjoy the DVD. I could not really just mute her either because I NEED her to tell me what to do next in the workout. Also, there was a beat in the background, and that was it for "music". I prefer a little music with my workout, even if the beat is the main reason they are playing.
