Friday Running 30 minutes (with hills)

Not sure how far I ran again, still on vacation, but I took a different route to add some hills.

Plus- took the kids to an indoor carnival for almost 5 hours (while carrying the baby in the sling the whole time).

Tuesday Running 30 minutes

I'm not sure how far I ran. I'm on vacation in the D.C. area!

Thursday Kickboxing 40 minutes

I did Turbo Jam: Punch, Kick & Jam DVD from the library. Not real impressed. The only thing good about it was they added some Capoeira moves that I have never seen in a kickboxing workout before. It was pretty basic, and more aerobic style (which I don't like, I prefer to think I am actually practicing fighting, as opposed to practicing girly girly prancing around ;).

Kajukenbo 12/23

Wednesday Exercise Bike + Strength 40 minutes

30 minutes exercise bike. 5 minutes standing abs. 5 minutes arms. I've gotten stronger, so my arm workout goes faster (since I can use two 10 lb free weights at once, one for each arm, instead of switching one 10 lb free weight between arms). It's nice because I can do a shorter workout and I still feel my arms getting stronger.

Tuesday Running in Place + Abs 40 minutes

Running in place 30 minutes, abs (with 200 crunches mixed in) 10 minutes.

Saturday, December 18, 2010

Friday Running in Place + Strength (arms & abs) 45 minutes

30 minutes running in place. 5 minutes arms (I hurt my right wrist/hand and could not do much) and 10 minutes abs (including standing abs and 200 crunches).

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Wednesday Running in Place + Standing Abs 35 minutes

Running in place 30 minutes, standing abs 5 minutes. Plus a 5 minute warm up of vigorous vacuuming.

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Tuesday Exercise Bike + Arms (strength) 30 minutes

20 minutes bike, 10 minutes arms.

I was not feeling well all day yesterday, and I am still pooped today. I hope to hop back on the horse full on with my run tomorrow.

Saturday Running 3 miles 35 minutes (with one really BIG hill)

That was the most awesome run EVER! It was sprinkling, and really windy, and I ran a BIG hill BUT I still ran 3 miles in 35 minutes. Wahahhahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!

Thursday, December 9, 2010

Thursday Strength Workout/Exercise Bike 45 minutes

Exercise Bike- 20 minutes, arms & standing abs -25 minutes.

Plus- installing a rear facing car seat for 20 minutes. My neck and hands were so sore after I did this!

Wednesday &Thursday

Biking 40 minutes, abs & running stairs 40 minutes.

Wednesday, December 8, 2010

Wednesday Running 35 minutes (2 3/4 mile with BIG hills)

Plus, Tuesday- I did not work out, but I made myself sore cleaning the house all day. We also decorated the house and tree that night. Busy day!

Monday, December 6, 2010

Monday Running in Place/ Strength 50 minutes

Running in place- 20 minutes. Arms, abs, legs- 30 minutes (including 200 crunches, Hoo-Rah!)

Plus- some laundry and hopefully putting up the Christmas Tree later tonight ;)

Sunday, December 5, 2010

Sat

around working on my music in my pj's till about 3:00 in the afternoon. By then I felt like a total slime ball. So I ran stairs for 40 minutes, then took a shower and got dressed, felt reasonably human again.

Kajukenbo class 12/2

Four of us total tonight, including a local policeman.

Worked on forms.

Dirty boxing on BOB (see previous post). Dirty boxing is basically being able to hold someone as you hit them. Modern boxing does not really allow this. Very specifically it is holding the target where it cannot move and lessen the impact.

Awareness drill- start on doing Kajukenbo style ground and pound (like this) on a kicking shield on a mat while everyone circled. At various points, someone would charge the person in the center. They were supposed to be aware even if they were on the offensive. The idea being don't focus entirely on the one attacker, he may have friends.

Thursday Exercise Bike + Strength 40 minutes

Exercise Bike- 20 minutes. Strength (arms + standing abs) 20 minutes. This cold is sucking the life out of me, but I will keep working out! Rah!

Here and There

Sorry! It's been too long. I read everyone else's posts, but don't post myself! I have been plugging away at my little routine, Just Dance 2 followed by some Pilates. Haven't seen any major weight loss. Probably because I chase my workout down with a doughnut. (or two...) I need to revisit the diet. It's so easy to get into the bad habits of just grabbing something premade and sweet. Also! In February, I will be doing a workout bootcamp. I don't know what possessed me, but it was on Groupon. 4:30 am everyday for a month. It may just kill me. Thinking about it sends me into conniptions.

Thursday

I got up at 4:20, but I just didn't feel like being up yet. So I stayed in bed for another 45 minutes then got up and made pumpkin bread, then rode the bike in the basement for 30 minutes all while listening to scriptures on CD. So, I feel it was a good compromise. The workout wasn't quite as good, but it still counts, plus I made a good breakfast and got my scriptures in using the same amount of time it would have taken me to get dressed for the cold, drive, run, and drive back home. I even had time to read scriptures with the kids before school and shower and get myself plus the two little ones dressed and ready to walk out the door before 8:15. Now I've got to get motivating and clean up breakfast and take Justice to Thursday school, then do the grocery shopping, then pick Justice up, then put the groceries away (which BTW is a big task with our family). THEN I will probably collapse in a big heap. Did I mention that though I stayed in bed for an extra 45 minutes, I wasn't able to go back to sleep. Got to go now! Love you all!

Tuesday

I ran the hill route today. I was in a hurry, so I skipped the COB hills. Still, a hilly six mile run.

Monday, November 29, 2010

Monday Running in Place/Strength Workout 45 minutes (arms & abs)

Running in place- 25 minutes. Arms & Abs (including 180 crunches) 20 minutes.

I can't believe I only worked out TWICE last week! I'm really going to try to workout 5 times this week, but the weather and the holiday busyness is making things DIFFICULT.

Where the Heck has Renae Been?!

I did something to my back / neck, and it REALLY hurt for about a week. I didn't work out at ALL last week. I've been to the chiropractor twice now and I'm feeling 75 percent better. I'm feeling super flabby today! I did some lower body weight training today. Tomorrow is running.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Tuesday Mix It Up Workout 45 minutes

Running in place 10 minutes, running stairs 10 minutes, running in place 10 minutes, exercise bike 10 minutes, running in place 5 minutes. I cooled down by walking around the house with wobbly noodle legs ;) I think I definitely got a good leg workout to balance out the mostly upper body workout I had yesterday.

Monday, November 22, 2010

Monday Mowing/Big Shovel/Raking 2 hours

I don't usually count gardening as my workout, but this was definitely a good strength workout. In fact, I may not be able to do any strength workouts the rest of the week because of soreness ;)

I mowed over leaves for 30 minutes to make leaf mulch. Then I dug down into the garden 12-18 inches to bury the leaves along with some kitchen scraps I had been saving for this project. The burying the leaf mulch/scraps in the dirt was another hour. Then, I leveled everything out with a rake and moved large paving stones around for another 30 minutes.

Saturday, November 20, 2010

Saturday Running/Walking 35 minutes (2 miles, FLATS)

I walked 1 mile and ran 1 mile. I was so tired from a rough night with a teething baby that I did not really feel like running. 1 mile seemed good enough for today ;)

I worked out 5 times this week, including TWO strength workouts. Woot!

Also-cleaned out my car for 30 minutes on Friday (including the giant vacuum thing next to most car washes).

Main goal for winter- Work out 5 times a week to keep away post baby/winter depression.

This Week

Okay so I suck at a diet!! Darn chocolate! I'll never lose any weight.

Tuesday I ran hills with the group. I skipped the COB hills, but still I did a hard 6 HILLY miles.

Thursday I ran my stairs for 40 minutes.

Friday I ran 6 miles.

I'll have to do something today. Blah!

Friday Exercise Bike + Strength (arms + abs) 45 minutes total

Exercise Bike- 20 minutes. Strength 25 minutes- I lengthened the arm workout (and my arms are like noodles now) to make it longer and mostly skipped the leg strength exercises this time. I still did the 200 crunches mixed into my regular ab workout.

Friday-Dancing

So, I tried one of the girls' workouts again today, and with the base instruction I got from the guy, she made a LOT more sense, and I was able to do the whole workout, without sitting out and trying to understand what was going on. It was also a GREAT workout, once you get the hang of it. So, if you check out this video, I highly recommend skipping to the quickstep routine with Demetri (rowr) before trying one of the girls out. I did a little over twenty minutes, and was dripping in sweat afterwards. I'm also coming down with a cold, I think, so I'm not sure what I'll do tomorrow. Something light, though. I'm determined to work through the cold, unless it develops into the flu or something more serious.

This week

Monday- vegetative
Tuesday- forms and some ground and pound (30 minutes)
Wednesday- workout w/Vance. Less martial arts than picking him up bodily when he was being mischievous.
Thursday- 1 1/2 hour class- forms, hitting BOB and taking turns beating up on an 11 year old. (He really deserved it 'cause we are trying to forge a green belt!)

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Wednesday Running 35 minutes (2 3/4 mile with BIG hills)

I started out slow, but those hills made my legs feel energized. It was great. I was surprised I got the same time as last week though, with the slow start.

Tuesday--Biking

I forgot to post my workout yesterday. Again. I need to be flogged.
I did FORTY minutes at 13-14.5 mph for a total of 8.2 miles covered. Yes, you read that right, 40 minutes!! That's the most I've ever been able to do! It was really really hard, so I was right to do it, even if I did have to slow down a mph to do it. I'm going to let the bike rest today, though. Not sure what I'm going to do, I might take the day off, but I would like to a weight workout. We'll see.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Tuesday Exercise Bike+Strength Workout 45 minutes (total)

20 minutes on the bike, 25 minutes of arms, abs, and legs (with 200 crunches mixed in).

Monday, November 15, 2010

Martial art 30 min.

Ran through the TKD and Kajukenbo forms.
Practiced ground and pound on a kicking shield.
The kids (and Mom) continue to keep the back room ready for night time exercising and are supportive.

Monday-Biking

I did 30 minutes today at 14-14.5 mph, so I kicked up the speed a little, for a total of 6.8 miles covered. And the weird but seriously cool thing? 30 minutes is getting just a little too easy! What?!! So I might have to kick the time up too! I think once I hit an hour, I will kick the tension up, but that scares me, lol!!
The Almighty Liz

Monday Speedwork (2 1/2 miles total) 35 minutes

I started off running 1 mile (in 10 minutes) just to feel what the pace of a 10 minute mile felt like. I walked that off for 1/2 mile. Then I did four 1/8 mile (or less) sprints (with 1/8 (or more) mile walking breaks). The last "sprint" I was barely running, so I pooped out pretty hard toward the end there.

Also- vigorously cleaned a very dirty high chair for an hour (that had been in my basement for two years).

With V's birthday, I was slacking last week. I want to start running three times a week (with Monday being speedwork) and then swimming on Fridays. I will see how crowded the pool is on Fridays before I make that my swimming day for sure though. With the baby still nursing, Mondays just seem too hard to get out of the house and swim.

Climbing Back on the Wagon -- Again

So the Walls being in town kinda screwed me up a bit. I stayed up too late to be getting up at 4:30, so I didn't run with my group at all. I also didn't watch what I ate at all. I did run the stairs for 40 minutes on Thursday. By Saturday I was feeling like quite the slacker, so I did a 13 mile run to make up for my bad week. It was really tough! I haven't done one of those since about March. I'll have to start showing up for Saturday runs again!

So here it is Monday. I weighed in at 153.25 this morning. So, I didn't lose or gain last week. Now it's back to business.

Saturday

I totally forgot to post my workout on Saturday. I was crazy uber busy, and not even home much, so I forgive myself.
I did the dancing workout again, a little over 20 minutes, and it was just as hard this time. I love it!

Thursday Yoga 30 minutes

Plus- nature walking with the kids for 2 1/2 hours. I was holding the baby in a baby sling the whole time and my back was killing me. That was the main reason for the yoga. Still doing the Total Yoga tape I bought about a month ago.

Dancing

Okay, I did the third and final segment of my new dancing video thingy, and it was AWESOME. There are three instructors, and the guy is totally the best. Easy to follow and understand, so I was able to dance through the whole thing, and not sit and watch and try to catch on to what was going on. And it was a DANG good workout, the best dance workout I've ever had I think! I'm drenched in sweat as I type this (note to self: clean keyboard after shower), and I don't sweat! I wish he did the whole thing, darn it! Anyway, I did a little over 20 minutes of dancing today, yay!
The Almighty Liz
P.S. I forgot to add that I didn't do any formal working out yesterday. I did a LOT of errand running, and most of the stores I needed to go to were in a large strip mall type situation, so I parked in the middle and walked. Also, I organized my kids' toys yesterday, of which I am enormously proud. Picture toys all over my house, and now they are catergorized, packed in clear bins, and on shelves! By the time I got finished I was wiped out, so I'm counting that as my workout for yesterday.

Wednesday Running 2 3/4 miles (with big hills) 35 minutes

Eeeek! My time is getting really good (for me) and I'm still maintaining my distance. I thought this sinus infection would slow me down, but apparently not!

Plus- 45 minutes of raking and mowing leaves (to make something called "leaf mulch")

Biking

I forgot to post yesterday! Shame on me!
So, I cleaned my kitchen and my living/dining room. Swept and everything. That took about two hours. Then, in the evening, I did my bike for 30 minutes. I did a little better on the speed, so 13 mph for a total of 6.4 miles covered. My soreness from dancing is starting to subside too, which is good. I think I may lift weights today, but we'll see.

Ode to the kids (and wife)

I've been making an effort to practice martial arts on more than just the day of class. It started w/the idea of teaching Vance and QQ. To facilitate this, the kids are now supposed to have our back room (the play room) cleared before I get home so I can practice at night. With Mama's help, the kids do a really good job and it helps motivate me as I know my little ones are helping me succeed.

Thanks, Vance, QQ and Pooh.

Monday Walking with the kids 45 minutes

Plus- 1 hour raking leaves for an upper body workout.

Dancing

So, I got a new dancing work out video. It's a lot of swing and ragtime, which I LOVE. I'm not sure I like it because they added a lot of stuff to make it more "cardio", which, really, it didn't need. So, I did two 15 minute work outs, but I spent a lot of time watching, since it was new, so probably a total of 20 minutes, or a bit less. I didn't do all the workouts they had on the video either, so maybe the next couple are better.

Saturday Running 35 minutes (2 1/2 miles FLATS)

Also- cleaning my brains out! I decided to do the fall cleaning in prep of people coming over to our house.

Back on the Bike Again....

Sing that title to the tune of "On the Road Again". That's how I meant it. :D
So, 30 min @ around 12ish mph for a total of 6 miles covered. I was really surprised that I made it thirty minutes, and at 12 or so mph. I thought I was taking it very easy, and was in no way going to make it past 15 minutes, so all in all, pleasant surprise for sure! I'm really tired now, and off to bed. (or at least a good movie or book.)
The Almighty Liz

Friday

Thanks to Timpani, I ran today. Somewhere around 7ish miles, I think. Diet still doing pretty good.

Thursday, November 4, 2010

Thursday

I got up super early today with the intention to run with the group. However due to things beyond my control, I got running late. With my keys in my hand and standing in the doorway, I decided that it wasn't worth the trip out there. This weekend is a marathon weekend for many of the people in our group, so most everyone would be severely into their taper. If they ran at all today, it would likely be only about 2 -4 miles. If I got there ten minutes late and had to drive till I found them... Anyway I ran my stairs for 40 minutes instead. I guess next week will be slim pickings with the running group too. Everyone will be recovering. Oh well.

It's officially been a week into my "diet," so I weighed myself this morning. The official one week weigh in is: 153.5. That's three pounds down in one week. Don't freak out. At least one pound of that is water. I was on my period, and carrying around some extra. But hey, it makes for a nice first week!

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Wednesday 2 3/4 miles (with big hills) 40 minutes

I thought I was going to do lots worse. With the big hills mixed in, I still think my time is continuing to improve.

Yay! I'm back!

My computer browser have been being gay. It took me a little while, but I figured out how to fix it. I couldn't sign into any of my blogs. So I couldn't post or comment or anything. Annoying.

Well last time I posted was Thursday last week? Yes. That's right. Well since then I've been pretty good on my "diet." I've not been perfect, but I don't think I've done anything really bad. I was thinking about going to the movies last Friday, so I checked on the internet about the fat / calorie content of movie popcorn. Well, I can never eat that stuff again. Darn! I really like movie popcorn. Let's just say that you'd be better off eating three Big Macs than one large tub of movie popcorn, and that's without the buttery topping! YIKES!!!

I ran six miles on Friday. Saturday I was really busy (but now I don't even remember what I did), so I just skipped a workout on Saturday. Sunday I stayed up too late, making getting up early to workout on Monday impossible. Yesterday I rode my bike in basement for 35 minutes.

I weighed myself yesterday: 154. That's 2.5 down from last Thursday, but don't be too impressed. I think I was probably retaining water on the first weigh in, since I was on my period.

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

Monday, November 1, 2010

Monday Monday Running 42 minutes (3 miles with one really big hill)

Woot! I definitely am improving my time, especially with that one really big hill added in.

Plus laundry and housecleaning 2 hours.

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Saturday Trail Running 30 minutes

I was in a hurry to do Halloween stuff today, but I think I will try running for 45 minutes next time. Still no idea how far I'm running.

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Thursday Strength Workout 30 minutes (arms, legs, abs)

Plus, I warmed up with 15 minutes of vacuuming. I'm also back up to 200 crunches. Yay!

Finally Reporting In

Sorry girls, I have been BAD about posting, but I'll do better. I'm not going to try to catch up on what I've done since the last post, but it's been about the norm. for me.

The bad news is that my weight is slowly creeping up. I have put on about 10 lbs, and I'm not happy about it. I now have a closet full of jeans that are tight. I REFUSE to give in and buy new ones!!!

So here's the plan:

  1. Work out hard at least 4 times a week. (cardio)
  2. Start doing weight training. Surely I can squeeze in 15-20 minutes a day right?
  3. I'm counting calories / fat / protein. I'm going to try 2000 calories per day.
  4. Since I don't want to do that whole diet roller coaster thing, I'm going to make a serious effort to eat more healthy things. For example, I'm trying to cut out on a lot of high fructose corn syrup, since this is BAD stuff. I'm switching to a whole grain bread with no bad HFCS. I'm switching to a healthy cereal with no HFCS. I'm V8 to my lunch and dinner menus.
  5. I am staying AWAY from Halloween candy!
  6. I am drinking 8 glasses of water a day.
Will this work? I hope so. Goals: Total: between 140 -145. By my birthday: 152. By Christmas: 147 Low 140s by the end of the first week in January. Today I weighed 156.5

I ran 8 miles this morning, and so far so good on the calorie counting. I intend to report in regularly to try to actually stay on track this time.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Wednesday Running 45 minutes (2 3/4 miles with BIG hills)

With the big hills, I just decided to be happy with 45 minutes (and almost 3 miles). Plus, I'm still SUPER sore from that Kickboxing Bootcamp. Ouch! I can't remember the last time I was this sore from an aerobics DVD workout.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Monday Kickboxing Bootcamp 50 minutes (with arm weights and ab work)

The DVD I did this time was Kickboxing Bootcamp with Jeanette Jenkins. Except for some annoying music, I really liked this DVD. It was really fast paced, and hard, and it integrated not only weight training (with 5 lb weights and push ups) but also ab/crunch work at the end. I can't remember the last time I was shaking that hard after a workout! She said she burned 700 calories (according to her heart/intensity monitor), and though I'm not sure I burned that many, I definitely burned more than any other kickboxing workout I've ever done.

Also- I scrubbed throw up stains out of carpet and washed all the bedding in the house today. This was why I did not feel up to doing all the things I needed to do to go swimming tonight. I will start swimming again SOON!

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Saturday Trail Running 30 minutes

I think I ran about 2 miles. Trail running is hard. Dang! And it was hot today. Double dang!

Friday- I went to yard sales all day with three kids (about six hours) and then grocery shopped for 1 hour.

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Wednesday (really slow) Running 45 minutes (3 miles with small hills)

My ankle was still acting like a big baby, but I really wanted that 3 miles back, so I just ran it slow enough so my ankle did not complain. I still count it as a victory since I lasted the whole 3 miles!

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Dancing

Another 10 minute dancing workout video thing today. A little easier than yesterday, but not nearly easy enough for another ten minutes yet.
The Almighty Liz

Tuesday Exercise Bike + Strength (Arms, Abs) 40 minutes total

20 minutes on the exercise bike (to get hot enough to try and burn off this cold!) and 20 minutes strength.

I did nothing else today due to being sick and kids being sick. Blah.

Monday, October 18, 2010

Monday Running (1 1/2 miles with a really big hill) 25 minutes

Then I walked it off for 5 minutes, for a total of 30 minutes. I was taking it easy tonight because I re-injured my ankle planting a shrub on Saturday. I also used a different pace to put less pressure on the bend of my ankle/foot where it hurts. We'll see how it feels tomorrow!

Edited to add: Did I tell you guys I lost all my baby weight already? I was totally shocked that NEVER happens to me this fast! It usually takes me 1 to 1 1/2 years to lose it.

And I'm Back!

Okay, so I was going to work out hardcore starting Friday, my first official medically okay day to do so. Well, it didn't really go according to plan, because I'm still really fatigued. I did, however, do some dishes and do a short run to the grocery store. The on Saturday, we cleaned the church (I only set up chairs), and then a short walmart run. I was wiped. I slept a looooooooooong time on Sunday.
Which brings us to today. I did a ten minute dance video workout, and was panting and sweating and seeing blurry by the end. So, ugh, lots of ground lost, but I'm back in the game baby!!
The Almighty Liz

An Update

So things have been a bit crazy and stressful and I have let the working out slide. I'm back on track while waiting for all the test results and dr's appts. (ha! I sound like Liz! lol) We got the new Just Dance 2 for Wii and it has a Sweat Mode which tracks your working out and stuff. I just stumbled onto it today and love it. I've mostly been dancing with the girls- housework, the heavy lots of sweat kind, and I'm looking into purchasing a triple jogging stroller so I can finally get out and jog now that the weather is cooperating!

So far I've lost 10 lbs. But I haven't seen a difference in my clothes. I'm still in the same (huge) size. But whatever.

Friday, October 15, 2010

Friday Running (2 miles with BIG hills) 30 minutes

I actually ran the 2 miles in 25 minutes, and then walked it off for 5 minutes. Those hills felt so good!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Cleaning Workout?

I did the dishes today, does that count? It wiped me out, I couldn't even finish doing the rest of the kitchen! I've lost some ground, darn it. I'm cleared to start working out again tomorrow. The trick will be not over-doing it. Gr.

Wednesday Yoga (30 minutes) Walking with Kids 1 hour

The yoga was mostly to pull the kink out of my back, it worked! I only did 30 minutes of the 45 minute yoga tape. Today was so nice that I had to go walking to enjoy it.

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Tuesday Strength Workout+Exercise Bike 45 minutes

25 minutes strength + 20 minutes on the exercise bike. I'm taking a break from running for a few days since my ankle is acting wonky. Stupid wonky ankle.

Monday, October 11, 2010

Monday Kickboxing 40 minutes

I did the Kickbox Underground DVD. It was not as good as the other kickboxing workout I did with Guillermo Gomez. It was not as hard, it was shorter, and the kicks and combos were not as cool.

I'm going to start swimming again next week, now that I've figured out the new hours and what time I want to swim.

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Saturday Running 2 1/2 miles 30 minutes

I actually walked the last 1/4 mile because the heat was getting to me and my foot went numb. I'm trying for 3 miles again next week!

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Wednesday Running 30 minutes (2 1/2 miles)

I could not run as long because E worked late and I did not want to run in the dark.

Plus- this week was laundry marathon week with lots of organizing, sorting, washing and putting away of all our fall/winter clothes. Whew! Glad that's done!

Monday, October 4, 2010

Monday Running 38 minutes (3 miles)

I ran 3 miles! Woohoo! I hope to have that time way down by the end of next week.

Also-I did a ton of sorting, laundry, and organizing of winter clothes that took pretty much all day (except for the parts where I was nursing the baby, making food for kids etc.)

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Saturday Running 33 minutes (2 3/4 mile)

I did not run on Wednesday, so getting down to 30 minutes was probably not possible. I will try harder to improve next week (when I hit the 3 mile mark).

Friday- ran all over the Apple Farm with QQ earlier in the day, and then ran all over yard sales with the three kids that night.

Wed-Friday

Wednesday I walked for about 45 minutes with the kiddos in the stroller. Thursday I ran 6 miles with the group. Friday I ran about 7.5 miles at Lydia's 24 hour run.

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Thursday Walking with kids 45 minutes

Yep, no time for anything else AGAIN. Busy busy week.

And I'm Finally Posting!

Because I have something to post about! Huzzah!
Our new bed is AWESOME, and I'm totally getting caught on my sleep. So, yesterday, we went for a walk at Shaw Nature Preserve, half an hour to 45 minutes, and I was wiped at the end. Definitely lost some ground there, but I'll get it back! Er, starting in two weeks because I'm getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow and you shouldn't do strenuous anything for a couple of weeks after the surgery.
BUT-
In other news, today was a weigh day, and I MADE MY GOAL!!! 20 lbs gone!! I'm at 130!! *big happy dance* 8 1/2 inches off my waist (which you can actually see now without having to search long and hard) and six or so off my hips. I think that maybe I would like to lose five more pounds, but I'm taking six months off the diet to let me body rest, and to tone up. Who knows, after I've toned up, maybe I won't feel the need to drop five more pounds, we'll see. I'll re-evaluate in six months.
Go me!

Wednesday Walking 1 Hour (with kids)

Did not get a chance to run today due to unforseen problems that arose. Too much going on today!

Wednesday, September 29, 2010

jkl

I ran sort of, on Saturday. It was later in the day and maybe a little warm for it. I ran about two miles and then decided that I just didn't feel like it anymore. I then walked about three miles more.

I ran hills with the group on Tuesday. The weather was much nicer! We included the CotB hills. And for only the second time ever, I made it all the way up 7th Street hill without walking. (You'd just have to see this monster to understand.)

Tuesday Yoga 1 Hour

I hope this helps me sleep tonight. Tired blargh.

Monday Running 2 3/4 mile 33 minutes

Woot! I was oober super tired today. I told Erik I was running though, and I make it a point not to lie to my husband ;). Once again, I would like to get down to 30 minutes with running 2 3/4 mile. Then, next week, I hope to be able to run 3 miles in 30 minutes. After next week, I will go back to running twice a week though (and add swimming back into the mix).

Hey Renae! Wanna trade babysitting once a week again in the morning?
It's getting dark really early now, and I'm kind of chicken to run in the dark. If you say no I will only cry a little.

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Saturday Running 31 minutes (2 1/2 miles)

Oooh, I almost made it in 30 minutes flat! I will blame it on the cold this week ;)

Plus- 1 hours of yard work with the big hedge clippers. 1 hour of heavy duty big shovel work moving my compost pile.

Thursday, September 23, 2010

TIRED Thursday

I did speed work with the group today. I feel totally dead tired. I don't know if it's getting up early, or the protein, or what, but I just feel so completely void of energy lately. Maybe I'll go and eat another can of tuna for good measure. What is with me?!! I don't want to do anything but take a nap.

Wednesday Walking 45 minutes Running 30 Minutes (1 hour 15 minutes total)

I did not think I would get to run today because we were helping some friends move, so I walked with the kids earlier in the day. Then, we got our wires crossed and ended up getting to our friends house 45 minutes before they did. I had on my running shoes, and my running bra was in the car, so we took the kids to the park and I ran around a pretty lake and a nice neighborhood. I think I ran over 2 miles, but I just timed it to be 30 minutes of running again.

Also- helped friends move for 2 hours. My feet hurt!

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Sat & Tue

I ran the stairs on Saturday, just for something different. My legs are SORE!!

Today I ran the hills with the group, I had a rough time of it today. I think it was a combination of that puppy keeping me up, so I haven't had a good night sleep in a week, plus it was a bit hotter outside than it's been, plus I was still sore from Saturday.

Monday, September 20, 2010

Monday Running 33 minutes (2 1/2 miles total)

The 33 minutes thing is important, as I'm going to try to get it down to 30 minutes by Saturday.

Saturday, September 18, 2010

Saturday Trail Running 30 minutes

We were helping some friends move this afternoon, so Erik took the kids to the park afterward and I went to check out the Watershed Nature Trail. It was fun running, with a great view. Trail running is harder though, even though I enjoyed using different parts of my feet/legs, and I enjoyed how much less of a pounding my feet took as compared to running on concrete/asphalt. I have no idea how far I ran since I did not see any mile markers, so I just ran for time.

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Thursday Strength Workout (arms, abs, legs) 35 minutes

I got up to 160 crunches, and I added more side of my abs ab work.

Plus- cleaned my kitchen for an hour.

Thursday

So now that my experimental month of ~well I can't say NO dairy, I cheated often~ we'll call it drastically reduced dairy was over, I was a moron and ate cheese and drank real milk and ate popcorn with butter. I didn't wake up in the middle of the night with a stomachache, but I was feeling a little extra green this morning when I did my work-out. I therefore petered out a little early. I couldn't decide whether to do speed work with the fast group, or to do a regular run with the not-so-fast group. I compromised. I ran two miles to the track with the not-so-fast group, did a little speed work, and then ran back to my van. (On Thursdays, the fast group meets at the track which is two miles out on our normal route.)

I've noticed that when my stomach is acting up from this lactose thing, I have a weird taste in the back of my mouth. At least I know what was causing those horrible stomachaches in the middle of the night. I'll just have to learn how much I can handle and take some Lactaid when I feel like overdoing it. I guess it's no big deal really.

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Wednesday Running/Walking 30 minutes (2 1/4 miles)

I ran 1 mile, walked 1/4 mile, and than ran another mile. My foot hurt most of today, so I did not think I would be able to run, but shoes cured it. Yep, just putting on shoes.

Also- scrubbed calcium, lime, rust stains off my toilet for 1 hour.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Tuesday Yoga 50 minutes

The tape is an hour, but I started feeling major yucky pants, so I had to stop. I think it was the pork steak I had for lunch.

Also- made a double batch of oatmeal raisin cookies and vacuumed.

Just Poking My Nose In

Hey there girls! I've cleaned a lot the past few days, and that's all I've got for right now. I'm beyond exhausted lately, and I do believe it's mostly my mattress. It just gets a little worse every night, until I'm now at the point where I can't really sleep unless I have chemical help, which I hate because I'm always so groggy and ugh the next day. This also means I'm sick off and on a lot, which sucks. BUT, we bought a new mattress that should be here on Wednesday, and the mattress topper we got to go with it got here TODAY! After we let it "reboot" for a couple of hours (it's memory foam), I went and laid on it just to see if it would make a difference, and promptly fell asleep, so I guess that's a resounding YES, lol! Anyway, I hope to get a few good nights' sleep under my belt, and hopefully my energy level will revive. Here's hoping with my fingers crossed!
I also wanted to pop and in and tell you two GREAT JOB. Seriously, you guys are my inspiration, and I totally live vicariously through you when I can't work out myself. I may not post all the time (because I feel sick, or am falling asleep at the computer), but I eat up every post you make. Keep it up!

Monday Running/Walking 35 minutes (2 1/4 miles)

Couch to 5K Week 6 Day 1. 1 3/4 miles running total. This is the last week of this program that I get the walking breaks, but I feel like I am progressing so quickly I won't need them by next week anyway!

I got new running shoes today, and they felt stiff. I can't wait until I break them in. I actually found a really good deal on e-bay for wide width Nike running shoes. I did not know they even made the wide width, but I guess it's like all running shoes that I buy, they only have wide width if you order them on the internet. Anyway, with shipping, I only paid $46, which is the best deal I have found in 2 1/2 years of running with wide feet ;)

Also- cleaned and de-cluttered the house for about 2 hours.

Saturday and Monday

So I was kind of lazy last week. Or maybe just busy. Saturday I ran with the group, but I only did 6.5 miles. I was planning on doing more, but we ran it pretty fast, so I wussed out at one loop.

Today I ran with the group on our new 8 mile route. Unfortunately I got there late, so I missed out on two miles worth. They are constantly coming up with new ways for me to suffer. Their new hill, Ninth Street is LONG! Plus we ran fast today, I'm loving the comfortable weather to run in! I felt good, and I ran faster than usual. Pushing hard felt good! So that's 6 fast miles including that dratted Ninth Street hill.

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Saturday Running/Walking 30 minutes

I ran 2 miles straight in only 25 minutes!!!! No walk breaks, per the Couch to 5K Week 5 Day 3 schedule. Then I walked around my yard for 5 minutes to cool down. I was really struggling with the first mile, and then the endorphins kicked in and the last mile went great. Woot!!!

Plus- 2 hours heavy duty big shovel yard work (digging up a small stump, planting 2 bushes and starting to move my behemoth 10X10 compost pile across the yard). I definitely got in my strength workout with that yard work! Of course, the yard work was probably why that first mile was so hard since I did the yard work earlier in the day.

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Thursday Running/Walking 30 minutes (2 miles total)

I did Couch to 5K Week 5 Day 2. I had two 3/4 mile runs (with 1/2 mile walking in between) so I was trying to "pace myself". I think that accounts for it taking me 30 minutes, instead of 25 minutes. I was also thinking allergies played a part. The third run of this week I'm supposed to run two miles straight. Wish me luck!

Plus, I had to get up at 6AM to go running, which for me seemed impossible, but I did it! Yay! I may never do it again, but at least I did it to reach my goal of running 3 times a week until I'm back up to running 3 miles again.

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Wednesday Strength Workout (Arms, Abs, Legs) 30 minutes

I got up to 160 crunches this time. I got nothing else done. I am so tired today! Allergies+BABY=blaaaaaaaaahhhhh.

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Tuesday Running/Walking/Calf Raises 30 minutes (2 miles total)

Running/Walking- 25 minutes (2 miles total). Couch to 5k Week 5 Day 1. 1 1/2 miles running total. It was pretty hard today, since my legs were sore from weeding yesterday.

Also-I wanted to run yesterday, but I did some heavy weeding for an hour and then had an allergy freak out. Nausea, weakness, horrible headache, the whole bit. So, running was not going to happen. I'm hoping to get up earlier than Erik on Thursday morning to go running.

Labor Day Weekend

I ran 5 miles with John on Friday. I hiked for a long time yesterday, and today I ran the hills with the group. I even did the COTB part too. I think that makes 7 miles of hills.

Mother Nature and her dumb gift are being mean to me right now. I know I'm supposed to be off of dairy, but I'm consoling myself with chocolate ice cream as we speak. >:)

Saturday, September 4, 2010

Saturday Running/Walking/Abs 35 minutes (2 miles total)

I did the Couch to 5K program Week 4 Day 3 (1 1/2 miles running total and 1/2 mile total walking) and I did it in 25 minutes! Woot! The other days it took me 30 minutes. I had no idea until I looked at my watch on the way home. I know I started out faster than before, and my calves and feet did not hurt this time, so that probably helped. Then I came home and did 10 minutes of abs.

I think I will do some weeding later too. What a beautiful day!

Also- my brother (the nurse who has made sports medicine his speciality) told me my arches are still definitely high. Poop! I thought having kids made them normal, but apparently they went from freakishly high to just sort of high. Then he looked at my shoes and said I am definitely a "supinator" which means I run on the outside of my shoe (which almost all people with high arches do). So, he showed me how to make my own shoe inserts from three different inserts you can buy at the store (like Dr. Scholl's). He also said the inserts would extend the life of my running shoes so I would only have to buy a new pair every year. Still, with the cost of the inserts, not much help!

Friday Walking 1 Hour (2 1/2 miles)

With two kids in a double stroller (I made Vance walk, hee hee).

I was really slow walking, just enjoying the day mostly. The fresh air and sunshine felt great, and I think the kids enjoyed it too.

Friday

I've been just dog tired for the past couple of days. I got plenty of sleep, but I have just felt completely drained, two days in a row. Wednesday I just figured that I was just worn out from my massive day Tuesday. Yesterday I had no excuse. I didn't even get up early and run. No energy, like being 2 months pregnant kind of no energy. It could be that I had been too lazy to pick up my thyroid medicine and had missed two days? Probably not since my dose is really low, so could it really affect me that drastically so quickly? I doubt it. Bruce suggested that maybe this no dairy thing is getting to me. I've been taking a calcium supplement, but that has no protein. After I thought about it for a minute I thought "Maybe there is something in that." I'm not known for being a huge meat consumer, and cheese was a major source of protein for me. Plus I don't really like that soy milk, so I've hardly been drinking it at all. So just for good measure, I ate a can of tuna before bed and two eggs with my breakfast. I also got my prescription refilled, and I'm back on my thyroid meds. I'm not sure how to diagnose my problem, but I am feeling better today. Yay!

I ran 4.5 miles pushing Justice and Clayton in the buggy. HOORAY for nice weather!!!

Thursday, September 2, 2010

Thursday Strength Workout 30 minutes

Abs, arms, legs. I got up to 140 crunches before I pooped out during the abs section. Not bad, still working on getting the abs stronger. I'm going to try and run the THIRD time on Saturday. Feeling good so far!

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Wednesday Running/Walking (2 Miles) + Abs 40 minutes

I did Couch to 5K Week 4 Day 2. I ran 1 1/2 miles total, plus 1/2 mile total walking in 30 minutes. Plus, I got to run in the rain! Woot! The abs was all standing abs, and some calf raises to fill out the last 10 minutes.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Tuesday #2

I also biked 19 miles with Team Godzilla. Average speed 18.1 mph. That's two work-outs today. I can pretty much guarantee that I will not work out tomorrow.

Tuesday Mowing the Lawn 35-45 minutes

I'm counting this as a strength workout because me shoulders and neck are totally killing me right now. I'm not sure about the actual time spent mowing because I had to stop and get the baby up from her nap and put her outside in her walker so I could finish.

Plus-cleaning the kitchen and various other places-1 hour.

Tuesday

I did the hills with the group today. It was hotter again this morning, so I had a bit of a hard time. Once again we cut off the Challenge of the Bluffs hills. Maybe next week. 6 miles HILLS!

Monday, August 30, 2010

Monday Running/Walking 30 minutes (2 miles total)

I ran 1 1/2 miles total with the Couch to 5K program (I started on Week 4 Day1). I'm going to try to run 3 times a week for the next few weeks on this program to get up to running 3 miles again. It should be a fun challenge. The last half mile today was BRUTAL, until I sprayed myself with my water bottle, hit a cool breeze, and the endorphins kicked in (finally). My calves were pretty sore from running 1 mile on Saturday too.

Here's the link (scroll to the bottom for the program all laid out)

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Saturday

Bruce and I biked 32 miles today. I love biking. I'm tired though.

Saturday Running/Walking 30 minutes (2 miles)

Running- almost 1 mile 13 minutes, and then walking the other 1+ mile. I pooped out toward the end because today was HOT, and I did not get start until 2pm for various baby related reasons. I tried the Renae's wet t-shirt thing, and that did help.

Plus- grocery shopping with the whole family for 1 hour.

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Thursday Hardcore Kickboxing Circuit 50 minutes

With 10 lb free weights for the weights part. This will be the last time I will do this DVD for awhile, since blockbuster.com is sure to want it back (though they claim no late fees). I've had it for a month, so I can't blame them. I will have to try and find it on Amazon.com

Plus, more cleaning. Wow, my house was dirty.

Thursday

I ran with the group today. I was undecided if I wanted to do the regular run with the Nautilus group, or to do speed work with the fast group. In the end, I ran to the track with the Nautilus group, and then did a speed workout, and then trotted back to the van. Unfortunately, I kind of hurt my quad. I should have stretched. I guess I took off too fast at the track. It hurt, and I stupidly kept running. It got better, but I could still feel it being aggravated for my whole workout. Now it's mad at me. I think I strained something. I'll have to be more careful in the future. Anyway, 1.5 mile run to the track, 4 -1/2 mile loops as fast as I could hold for 1/2 mile, and then 1- 1/4 mile as fast as I could, last a slow 1.5 mile jog back to my van. I hope my quad gets better fast!!

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Wednesday Walking 1 hour (2 1/2 miles)

With two kids in the double stroller (1 mile), and then two kids in the double stroller and holding the baby in the sling (1 1/2 miles).

Plus- lots of cleaning today. Apparently, my house got super dirty while I was busy NOT sleeping ;)

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Tuesday Walking 45 minutes (2 miles)

With two kids in the double stroller, and then two kids in the double stroller and holding the baby in the sling. My left hip was giving me trouble, so I decided to take it easy for the first part of the week. I'll try running again on Saturday.

Monday-cleaned, laundry, and cooking pretty much all day. Catch up day!

Tuesday

I ran hills with the group. Tough stuff folks! I skipped the Challenge of the Bluffs portion again, but I had plenty of workout without it. Maybe next week. 6 miles of hilly Team Alton hills.

Saturday, August 21, 2010

Saturday Running/Walking 35 minutes (2 miles)

Running- 13 minutes (1 mile) and then walked the other mile (slowly). I pushed myself to get that mile in 13 minutes! My calves were also sore from the aerobox workout on wednesday and my thighs were sore from the exercise bike yesterday.

I worked out 5 times this week. Woot!!!

Saturday Adventure

This is my absolute favorite kind of work-out!! 34 mile bike ride with John, not really concerned about speed. LOVED IT!

Friday, August 20, 2010

Friday Exercise Bike + Strength Workout (arms & abs) 40 minutes

exercise bike-20 minutes, 10 minutes arms, 10 minutes abs (including 120 crunches and standing abs). My abs are definitely still not back to normal, still struggling just to get those 120 crunches.

Also- cleaned the kitchen and did laundry.

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Catching up

I've been working out, but sucking at posting. I'm having some moderate fatigue issues, combined with some other things, and I think a call in to my doc is in the cards soon. Anyway, I did my bike twice last week, 20 minutes both times, 5.2ish miles both times, @ around 13.5-14 mph both times. I had some knee trouble Monday and Tuesday this week, so I babied it for those days, but yesterday was feeling better so got on the bike again. (this is my exercise bike, btw, it's been WAY to hot for anything outside) I only did 15 minutes though. See? Fatigue issues. I'm really struggling with anything aerobic lately. It might also be that I need a new mattress and haven't gotten a good night's sleep in several weeks....lol! Duh. Can you tell I'm tired? :P
The Almighty Liz

Thursday Humble Pie

I did speed work at the track with the group. I hate it when people who I used to think of as slow work really hard, I slack off, and now they can kick my booty. Oh well! That's what I get for working out with a bunch of marathoners. They really train hard, and it pays off. Good for them! I'm not doing any marathons any time in the foreseeable future, so I guess I'd better get used to being passed up. I just have other things that I want to do with my time. I'll work out hard, but enough is enough. I'm just not putting myself through all of that. ANYWAY! I did 4 - 1/2 miles and 2 - 1/4 miles. Go Team Alton!! You guys are awesome, and you never fail to make me feel like a slacker!

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Wednesday Aerobox Workout 50 minutes

I am smoking hot! I quit doing THIS
workout video like 8-9 years ago because it got too hard. I did the whole thing, no breaks! Woot! This is a Kathy Smith workout, but mostly taught by a professional boxer. It is the hardest video workout I have ever come across.

That's about all I got done today though (baby was having a major fussy pants day).

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Tuesday Strength Workout 30 minutes

Arms, abs, legs (10 minutes each).

Plus- 1 hour of weeding and 1 hour running errands with three kids.

I've Turned into a Wuss

I ran the INSANE hill route with the group today. It's the first time in months that I've done that route. MAN WAS IT HARD! Ugh, I've lost more ground this summer than I thought. Oh well, it'll come back. I skipped the Challenge of the Bluffs portion because I had to get home for the first day back in school craziness. I was way done by then anyway. I think that makes it 6 miles of HILLS.

Monday, August 16, 2010

Monday Running/Walking 40 minutes (2 1/2 miles)

Plus, 1 hour of weeding and 1 hour of grocery shopping.

First run in 6 months! I ran 1 mile in 14 minutes, and then walked the rest. So, really sloooooooow, but still felt good.

Feeling Better

I did tolerably well at the triathlon after all. It was 1:45 slower than my PR, but better than I was expecting to do.

I stepped outside last night and GLORY BE, it was actually NICE outside!!! HOORAY!!! I therefore decided to run with my long lost running group. They have since added new pain to our route in a hill that I swear lasts an entire mile. (I don't know how long really is since I haven't actually measured it, but it just doesn't stop! I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it is a mile long.) Those people are sadistic! Anyway I ran 7.5 miles today. YAY!

Oh and I went to the dr. today about my thyroid (just a check-up). While I was there I asked him about my stupid stomach issues. (Last week was a special case. I think I had an actual bug that added to my normal issues. Ross got sick too.) I have been waking up at 3:00 am with an upset stomach semi regularly for a few months, followed by a nice bout of diarrhea around 5:00 am. Usually it goes away after that and I'm fine for the rest of the day. The doctor says it is likely a lactose intolerance. Now I can't eat any dairy for a whole month! STINK!! I have to go back in one month to report after my MONTH of no dairy. *SHHHH* I am rebelliously drinking chocolate milk as we speak, then I promise I'll do my best to swear it off for a MONTH.

Question Timpani: Can I still eat things baked with milk, like my wonderful buttermilk pancakes?

One more GOOD item of news about Renae's body (like you really want to know all about what my body does). I talked to my dr. about getting vein surgery. He said the results are very good usually. He is sending a referral to the fine folks at Wash. U, and THEY will be calling ME with an appointment. (This is a good thing because I've been putting off calling a vascular surgeon for 2 years now.) It's about stinking time! Won't it be lovely not to have the world's most ugly legs, AND also to not have horrible painful veins every time Aunt Flo comes to visit, AND to not have swollen ankles all of the time. What a lovely thing that will be!

Darn, my last chocolate milk is gone. I don't even know what to cook now. I put cheese in positively everything! STINK!

Thursday, August 12, 2010

Up All Night

again with MAJOR stomach cramps and diarrhea. It hurts so bad! It's now 5 in the morning. I can't sleep. If this keeps up, I'm afraid the triathlon will be an impossibility for me.

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Wednesday Exercise Bike/Strength Workout 40 minutes

20 minutes exercise bike, 10 minutes arms, 10 minutes abs.

Plus- standing in line registering kids for school and laundry.

I waited until like 9pm at night because of this heat, and I still felt a little "heat sick" after the workout. Yuck!

Wednesday

Good news, I lost 2 pounds. Bad news, it's all dehydration. I got a bad upset stomach and the worst case of Donny and Maria that I think I've ever had. No workout today. Must go and rehydrate!

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Tuesday Running in place/standing abs 30 minutes

Running in place-20 minutes, standing abs 10 minutes

Plus- laundry

Last Week and Tuesday

Girls, is it just me or has this summer's humidity been crazy brutal. Seriously I am mentally BEAT! I just don't want to do it anymore! It's been two solid months of 100 percent humidity EVERY time I go out to run. It is KILLING ME!! I just don't want to do it at all! Time after time after time, two months solid of breaking apart every time I run. I am DREADING the Triathlon this Saturday. Forget trying for a personal record, I just hope I don't end up walking. UGH!

Last week was BAD. I just didn't want to run at all. Tuesday night I ran circles around my parent's pool for a half hour. I ran 10 laps one direction and then turned around and ran 10 in the other direction, and repeated this process for 30 minutes. It was an odd kind of workout. My legs were definitely burning, but my heart-rate wasn't as high as it is when I run. But for once I was thankfully not hot!

I ran with Terry on Friday in Indiana. We ran hills, and I made it 5 miles before I had to quit and walk back. (The weather was a little cooler and a little less humid than the rest of this stupid summer.)

Does it count for anything that I walked around theme parks ALL DAY LONG for two days straight?

Today I ran the hills in my neighborhood. They aren't as long as the hills on Team Alton's hill route, but they don't stop at all. I ran for 35 minutes and then I was just done. I walked for another half hour maybe longer. DARN this weather!!

Monday, August 9, 2010

Monday Kickboxing 50 minutes (with 10 lb free weights for the strength part)

Hardcore Kickboxing Circuit again. This workout just keeps getting better! Thank goodness, since I was feeling pretty lost with my pool being closed for another month. Kickboxing definitely gives me the same energy as swimming, so it must be a good workout.

Hopefully, I can run again soon and I will really be rolling in that feel good workout energy.

Friday, August 6, 2010

Friday Kickboxing (with arm strength added in) 45 minutes

I did the Hardcore Kickboxing Circuit again, but I upped the weights from 2 lb hand weights to 10 lb free weights for the weight training section. Great workout! I think this might be one I have to add to my workout library.

Also- cleaned out my car for 30 minutes.

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

Dancing

Yesterday I did ten minutes of dancing. I don't know what the flip my problem is lately, but working out is hard. I just feel weird. Anyway, hopefully today I can do more.

Tuesday Exercise Bike + Strength (Arms & Abs) 40 minutes

Exercise Bike 20 minutes, 10 minutes arms, 10 minutes abs (with 120 crunches included).

Plus, cleaning the kitchen 30 minutes.

Monday, August 2, 2010

Monday Hodge Podge Workout 1 hour

30 minutes of heavy weeding then I ran inside and ran in place-20 minutes, and standing abs 10 minutes.

Plus laundry.

Sunday, August 1, 2010

Saturday

I ran six miles. The sun was mercifully under a cloud the whole time.

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Oh Yeah, I Almost Forgot!

6pm.com is having a sale on Asics. I just bought some running shoes 50% off.

Thursday

I just didn't feel like a torture session today. I did, however feel like a walk. I walked four miles in just over an hour. It may not be as good for training for a race, but walking is really good for me mentally. I didn't check the weather before I left. It felt pretty comfortable for a walk. Just out of curiosity, I checked just now. The humidity is down to 87 percent, as opposed to the 100 percent that we've had for the past month. When will it end?!

Wednesday Kickboxing DVD 50 minutes

Hardcore Kickboxing Circuit
Great workout, and the best part is the hot latin guy (ha ha, mostly kidding, mostly ;). There were some parts where Erik (martial arts guru) had to explain to me "why" I was doing certain moves so I could focus better. Like, why am I bringing up my knee twice and then kicking? (to fake someone out twice, and then whammo!) I must have asked this question about 10 times throughout the video. Poor Erik kept having to get up to see what I was supposed to be doing. It had some moves that I had not used in awhile (hook kicks) and one I had never used before (speed bag punches). They broke up some really tough cardio with some parts where you were using weights. I used really light weights because I just did my strength workout yesterday.

The only part I did not like was the second section where the girl was doing punch reps and she made it really more complicated than it needed to be to get a good workout in. One of the things I hate about aerobics is how complicated they can make it for no really good reason.

Also- cleaned house for a few hours last night and today because relatives were visiting from out of twon.

Finally Posting

Let's see, Saturday I ran 5 miles, I think.

Last night Ross' game got rained out (Yay!) so Bruce and I rode bikes. We did two loops on Whiteside Hill. I think that comes out to 22 miles. I averaged 18.2 mph (we kind of lollygaged for the first couple of miles - I'm told that's called a warm up. ;) ) Then we hopped off the bikes and ran one mile.

This morning I was waked by the TV that Bruce had fallen asleep in front of. It didn't even register until a baby on TV started crying. Then I jumped up thinking Clayton was strangling in his crib or something. That was about 4:15. Unfortunately my brain had started turning, and I couldn't get back to sleep. Finally I gave up, and went for a run at about 5:30. I must have been still tired from last night's work-out, because this morning I just didn't have it. I walked about 1 mile of my 5 mile run. No pep what-so-ever. I'm going to be so tired today. That stupid TV totally screwed me up because now I won't be able to get up tomorrow to run with the group. I'm probably taking Friday off, because I think I'm doing a time trial on Saturday. (Bike race)

Tuesday Strength Workout/ Running in Place 45 minutes

20 minutes running in place, then on to abs and arms with only calf raises for my legs.

Monday- Walking/Hiking 1 Hour

30 minutes walking on a paved biking trail, 30 minutes "hiking" in the muddy woods (running into spider webs, slipping in the mud, stumbling over storm downed trees, etc.).

I decided to explore this trail I used to walk on all the time 10 years ago or so since they closed my pool for the next two months. Suckage! Anyway, the trail is not used very often, and is totally missing big parts that used to loop around and connect and all this other neat stuff. I ended up going off trail where it ended in one place and just heading towards the sound of the cars. I found another part of the trail after that, and made it back fine. It did get kind of dark towards the end since it was overcast today.

Friday More Heavy Weeding 1 Hour

It was harder today since I was so sore.

Also- laundry

Thursday Heaving Weeding+Big Shovel Work 1 hour

I almost quit after 15 minutes, but I moved to the shade to weed to get out of the sun until it set behind the trees. I actually made a reasonable goal, finished it, and had time to get out the big shovel and move things around in the compost pile. I must be getting stronger! That heat was brutal today and I am pretty pooped.

Also- swept and mopped for about 45 minutes while carrying the baby in the baby carrier and went shopping for 30 minutes.

Biking AND Swimming

Yes, you read that title right, I did both! I biked two miles to the pool, rested a bit, and then did eight laps!! I road in the car on the way back though, I was whooped.

Thursday

I ran 5 miles pushing Clayton in the stroller.

My tooth finally is feeling better, but now I have this awful headache (and a canker sore) that I've had since Tuesday night. I think it's chiropractic. I would like to have a day with no pain. I'm totally calling my chiropractor tomorrow. My house is a freaking MESS!! We need Mom to be back in business. Must clean, but I just want to curl up on the couch and ignore the world.

Wednesday Exercise Bike 25 minutes (aka breaking in my butt workout)

20 minutes on the bike, 5 minutes marching in place. I will see how sore I am tomorrow ;)

Tuesday Strength Workout/Running in Place 35 minutes

Running in place- 15 minutes. Arms + abs (including 100 crunches).

I also figured out a way to run in place without hurting my chest (nursing sized chest). Woot! So, hopefully I can use the same method for running outside, since I sure as heck am not going to wait until I stop nursing to get back into running. My inner thighs are so sore from that aerobics DVD yesterday! They were almost as sore as the day after the first time I went running, so it must have been a good workout. That's why I cut the leg work out of the strength workout this time

Yesterday

Yesterday was a bit crazy for no particular reason, I just didn't find the time to post my workout! I did 30 minutes on my exercise bike @ around 13-13.5 mph for a total of 6.5 miles covered. Today is a swim night, but it's raining, and Erik is still sick, so John'll probably go and I'll stay home with the sicky, so I'll probably do a dance video today. Or I might scrap working out, I'm feeling a little....off.

More Monday

That's right, I did two workouts in one day! I went bike riding with Bruce. We went 15 miles average speed was 19 mph, then we ran one mile to train transition.

Monday Aerobics 45 minutes

I did an aerobics video from blockbuster that was called Crunch: Fat Burning Blast.
It incorporated Latin Dance and Kickboxing, and then some basic aerobics into three sections. There was another 5 minutes ab workout after the cool down, but my abs were trashed from the other parts of the workout. I will get my abs all the way back soon! It was a nice workout for the attention challenged since you had so many different things going on in the same video. I liked it, but not enough to do it more than a few times. I did get a sweat going from the 1 minutes calorie burning blasts that were incorporated into the video.

Monday

I ran the hills in my neighborhood today. The humidity did it's usual trick. I did 6 loops around my hill block. I stopped and walked a couple of times then I walked home. I hate summer running!

Saturday

I'm feeling like a marshmallow. I think my stupid tooth has a dry socket. Why do I have to have this problem on the weekend? I don't know if I'm supposed to workout, so I compromised with a 7.25 mile walk. I'm seriously considering biking with Bruce this afternoon. As long as I stay medicated, my mouth is not too bad, but as soon as that medicine starts to wear off, I certainly want more. I can't take anymore tylenol for another hour. I think I'll go and take some IB instead.

Dancing!

Wednesday we picked up the kids, so no workout that day, and yesterday, Erik came down with strep, so it was taking cared of him all day and dr.'s appts and picking up prescriptions and such, so no workout yesterday either. He's doing better today (sleeping a lot), so I did my dance video for 20 minutes. It's getting easier and easier to do those videos. I can really tell that I'm getting stronger, and that is ultra cool. Also, weigh day yesterday, and I lost another pound! So now it's 14 total, and 6 to go, woohoo! The end is in sight!

Calling in reinforcements

So I went to the dr. the other day. She prescribed another med for me. I was all, whatever. Ok. Then I read the "prescription information" and it said one of the side effects was weight loss. Um, SCORE!
I'm holding off on the jogging. It's still about 100 in the mornings. (Yuck!)  So when it gets nicer, I will be resuming that. Until then, as much dancing and pilates my body can take!

Sad news? I gained the 5 lbs. I lost a week ago. I think my hormonies are interfering with progress.

Thursday

I had the worst workout ever today. I felt sluggish from the start. I ran a slow 2.25 miles and then I pooped out. I cooled off in the water fountain and walked home. Total mileage was about 4.5 miles. I guess it was the heat / humidity / psyching myself out over this stupid wisdom tooth. Whatever, it wasn't my best.

Wednesday Strength Workout/Running in Place 50 minutes

Abs (with 100 crunches), legs (with leg weights), and arms (with 10 lb free weight) 30 minutes total. Running in place- 20 minutes.

Wow, I actually did the full strength workout with all three parts, and I worked out 3 days in a row (I think that's the first time I've done that since the baby was born!).

Edited to add that I spent two hours cleaning and organizing my kitchen to make way for the high chair we have to bring up from the basement soon.

Updates

I've been really falling behind on logging my workouts! Shame on Liz! So here's what I've been up to:
I think I posted last Thursday and Friday's workouts; exercise biking. Monday, I did some real biking for about twenty minutes in my neighborhood in the morning. My mother-in-law has my kids, and boy was it a different experience riding in the morning before it got hot!! Then, as we still don't have the kids, John proposed doing a little biking then swimming. There's a track next door to the pool, so I assumed that's what he meant and said sure! That sounds way fun. When he got home from work, he got out his bike and said let's go! And I was like, what?! You want to ride there?!! It's two miles there, and then two miles back, and there's hills and cars and railroad tracks, and it is NOT one way! He talked me into it. We had all the time in the world, we could go at whatever pace I needed, and he would go get the car if I couldn't make the return trip. So off we went, and much to my surprise, it was FUN!! I not only got to the pool, I made it home again! I didn't do laps in between, like John did (he did an hour or thereabouts of laps), but it was a freaking good workout for me! And I wasn't totally wiped out at the end! I'm not saying I could go any further, I was definitely done, but I wasn't a pile of mush either! And I wasn't super slow! I was able to actually get some speed on! And did I mention that I still had energy afterward? I, apparently, am UNSTOPPABLE!!

Monday Swimming 45 minutes

Woot! Awesome swim. Especially since I felt sick again this weekend. I read it can take up to 80 days for an ear infection to completely go away without antibiotics, so I may feel bad off and on for a few months :p

15 minutes breast stroke, 15 minutes back stroke (woot!), 10 minutes freestyle, and 5 minutes kick board (I pooped out toward the end).

Tour De Donut

My FIL asked me yesterday if I wanted to go and do the Tour De Donut with him today. I said sure, so we went. It's around a 30 mile bike race. Unfortunately they were full, so there was no race day sign up. Terry and I rode along as bandits. (That means you race with no number). I don't know where I would have ranked if I was actually in the race, but I MIGHT have taken my age group. Which would have been really cool because there were 1270 people in this race. Another gal from Team Godzilla and I played cat and mouse for most of the race. She only left me with a couple of miles left, and I don't recall any women passing me after that, so I think I was the next woman to finish after her. Anyway, she placed 5th overall for the women. Two other Godzillas women were in the top five that I know of and none of the three Godzillas that finished ahead of me were in my age group. They had the combined men and women's times posted when we left so I checked my time with them. I would have come in around 75th place overall (men and women included) of the 1270 bikers. I might have been 6th overall for women. Yeah I rock. I did do one major screw up that hurt my time. I tried to power up a hill that ended up being steeper then I had guessed. I tried going up it in too big of a gear and I ended up having to unclip and walk my bike up it for fear of tipping over (I wear the clip in shoes). I totally could have ridden up the hill if I had been in the right gear, but I misjudged it, and by the time I realized I was in trouble, it was too late. The only thing to do was crash or unclip and walk. Stinky. I'm sure I lost at least a minute with that. The thing to remember about this race is that not all 1270 people are really in it to win it. There is a lot of stopping and eating donuts (I didn't eat any). But there are also a lot of people who were trying for good times and not eating any donuts. So as for how I would do in a purely serious bike race, I don't know how to gauge from this, but I think I might have a shot at being competitive. Especially if I really trained. Okay, blah blah blah, brag, brag, brag. Here's what it boils down to: 30 miles ridden, average speed was 19.82 mph. Not too bad.

Friday, July 9, 2010

Thursday and Friday

I did my exercise bike yesterday and today. Yesterday it was 20 min. at 12.5-13.5 mph for a total of 4.3 miles covered. Today was a little faster, 20 min. at 13.5-14.5 mph for a total of 4.6 miles covered. Nice to be back in the saddle, but HARD at the same time, lol!
Also, yesterday was a weigh day, and I've lost two more pounds! So that's a total of 13 lbs, and 7 to go!

Kajukenbo 7/8/10

Good class tonight. Three teenagers and someone my age. One hour and a half w/stretching.

Thursday Walking (while carrying baby and pushing two kids in a double stroller) 45 minutes

We went pretty slow on the way back with the older kids walking, so not sure how aerobic it was. Two workouts in one day because I started getting that dark feeling toward the end of the day, so that means getting out in the fresh air and sunshine (or getting rained on, like today).

Thursday Strength Workout/Running in Place 30 minutes

10 minutes running in place, 10 minutes standing abs work, 10 minutes leg work (leg lifts with weights, calf raises, etc.).

I found that Sorsha takes a slightly longer nap in the morning (this time 30 minutes) so that I can work out. Other times of the day, she seems to only take "cat naps". I hope she keeps it up! I was hoping to go walking, but the heat and humidity just felt brutal today :P

Working on it

I have stopped taking the dogs out for jogs. It's really hot, and I'm really tired. However, I am still doing a lot of dancing on the wii and pilates. I'm also cutting back on the sweets and the eating.

I bought a swimsuit yesterday. I didn't want to bother trying it on with three kids in a dressing room, so I just bought it, and as I tried to pull it on at home, I ripped the tag right off. So I guess I bought it! And it's S.N.U.G. So I need to lose a bit of weight to look halfway decent on vacation.

Everyone- I need some weight loss magic! Vacation in two weeks!

Thursday

I biked 40 minutes on the bike in the basement then I ran 1.5 miles just to train the transition. I'm glad that's over!

Cardio Kickboxing 30 minutes

We had a lady who teaches kickboxing at the YMCA come to our RS activity and kick our chicken. I have never done that intense of a kickboxing class. Woot! I got some major happy hormones and I felt great all through Eclipse (which some of us went to watch afterwards).

Sat & Tue

Saturday I ran in Nauvoo. I don't know how far it was. I ran for about 55 minutes of stinky hills.
Then I walked all around town pushing Clayton in the stroller.

Today I ran for about 40 minutes. I started out strong and ran kind of fast because I had a time limit this morning. About half way out the heat/humidity started getting to me and I petered out. Oh well.

Monday, July 5, 2010

Monday Strength Workout + Running in Place 30 minutes

10 minutes arms, 10 minutes of abs (including 100 crunches), and 10 minutes of running in place.

Also- ended walking about 40 minutes on Sunday getting to and from the fireworks. Saturday-cleaned for a few hours.

I missed working out last week because I was sick. I hate being sick! I'm hoping to get back into running so I can stop getting sick all the time. Grrrrrrr.

Mixing it Up

Speed work out today. 4 - 1/2 mile bursts and 2 that were not 1/4 mile bursts. I was just done.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Wednesday

I got up early intending to work out. I thought about doing a speed workout, but in the end I decided that it was high time I start a strength training regimen. I spent half an hour hunting down the bits and pieces of my weight set, and just had time to do most of what I wanted to do, but no cardio. Maybe later. I did impress Ross and Mark by driving them down one of the crazy hills that we run up in our group. It is actually so steep that you have to be careful driving down it. I don't know who dreamed up that crazy route, but I dare anyone to do it and say it didn't kick their booty.

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Tuesday

I did my bike in the basement for 35 minutes, then I ran 1.5 miles pushing Justice and Clayton in the stroller IMMEDIATELY after to train the transition. The bike was hard (I aired up my friction tire which makes for more friction), but the run was not as hard as I had expected. I am sweating like crazy. Good workout.

Newfound Love (plus extra sweat!)

I have fallen in love with Just Dance for Wii. Holy Wow- I have never sweat so much before! And I was panting like a tiger! I have now vowed to alternate this game with pilates. Woo hoo!

Success For the Week

Happy to report I have kept up the running & pilates for the week with one exception for an early dr. appt. I am exhausted, though. And I just dropped a pretty penny on workout clothes. (Have you seen the Soma Sport line? Heaven! 60% off is no joke too)

I am hoping to get down a few sizes before seeing some family in July.

Friday

I ran 6.5 loops on my neighborhood hill route.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Wednesday Walking 1 Hour (with BIG hills)

Also- Tuesday- weed whacking 20 minutes.

Fitness plan for the next few months:

Monday- Swimming
Tuesday- not a workout, but something really active like yard work or vigorous cleaning.
Wednesday- Walking
Thursday- strength workout
Friday- Exercise bike or aerobics
Sat & Sun- recover
That should give me 3-4 workouts a week, which is my new goal for awhile.

Wednesday

Bruce and I biked. We skipped Whiteside, but it was sooooooo hot and windy! It sucked.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Um, Let's See...

I wore myself out doing my ceiling last week and making roman shades for my kitchen. I can't even remember what all I did last week. I know I worked out another time that I didn't post, but I don't remember what it was.

Monday this week I ran a little over six miles. Cursed heat is killing me! Well not KILLING me, but I feel so sluggish!

Today I ran with the group, six miles. I ran the first half mile at a fast pace because I got there as everyone was leaving, and I had to catch up. I stayed with the fast group for another two miles after that. Then I fell back and ran with a slower group (neither of my girls were there today. Barb just did a marathon on Sunday and Deb for some reason was running on the treadmill today. I don't know why, but she must have had something other going on.) Anyway I ran slower for the next couple of miles, but in the end I just went ahead on my own at my regular pace.

Monday, June 21, 2010

Monday Swimming Laps 40 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes freestyle, 10 minutes back stroke, 10 minutes kick board.

Also-mowed and raked the lawn for 45 minutes. My neck and upper back is now very sore. Ouch. Ouch a lot.

War!

I've been fighting battles on many fronts lately. I've been giving highest priority to the war on diapers, and have been neglecting my war on fat. This morning, I am starting a new routine: Running with the dogs while Husband gets ready for work. Then doing Pilates in the morning with the girls. How many times do you have to do something for it to become a habit? Cause I just bought a new dress and the chub doesn't work.

So yeah, let's hope I can do the same thing tomorrow!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

Wednesday Walking 45 minutes (with BIG hills)

I was pretty pooped after this walk. It did not help that E did not get home from work until 8pm, so it was the end of a long "mommy day". I did nothing else today (except nurse a baby).

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

Tuesday Strength Workout/Running in Place 30 minutes

I did 10 minutes of running in place, 13 minutes of arms with the 10lb free weight, and 7 minutes of standing ab work. I don't think my abs are ready for floor work just yet. Probably another month. Not sure how long I will wait to run outside.

Also- 20 minutes of vigorous weeding.

Is it only Tuesday?

Dang! I feel like I've lived a whole week in just a day or two. I got up early yesterday and rode the indoor bike for 40 minutes. BLAH! Then I went to the Science Center with SEVEN children and only one other adult (my great friend Amy. I love her!) That doesn't really count as a work out, except maybe mentally. Then I came home and collapsed on my bed for a while, got up and worked on my stinking ceiling in my kitchen (I'm texturizing it). Then I walked to Mark's ball game corralled kids there, and walked back. Total walkage 5 miles. Today I got up at 5:00 with the intention to run, but instead I fiddled with my new mp3 player for about an hour and a half, creating playlists and the like. Then I got Lydia up and ran one mile with her. I've been working on my stinking ceiling for a couple of hours and I'm nearly finished with the texturizing part, but I am TIRED! I've got so much stinking home improvement things to do, it will not ever get done for probably literally 5 years.

This week...

Kajukenbo class Thursday night 1.5 hours of various activities.

Lawn-mowing 2 hours today in 88º heat. :P

Saturday Heavy Weeding 45 minutes

I wanted to finish my whole pumpkin patch, but my arms gave out! I was weeding super fast to beat the rain, so I count it as a good workout ;)

Also- vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, laundry.

Friday Sharpening Lawn Mower Blades 30 minutes

Holy flying poo that was hard! I'm going to be sore tomorrow. This was definitely a strength workout that used both arms, and my upper and middle back.

Plus 3 hours yard sale shopping with my mom and three kids (one that I had to hold the whole time). Super fun!

Swimming!

Our pool is finally open, and we had our first opportunity to do lap swim tonight. I did AWESOME! The year before last, I started out at 1/2 a lap, period. Last year I started out at two, and I had to rest in between. This year I did two consecutive with no rest, and then FOUR MORE with small rests in between! Oh yeah! I ROCK! And even then I had to stop because of my muscles, not my cardiovascular fitness. Isn't that COOL?!
The Almighty Liz

Thursday Walking (while wearing the baby and pushing the double stroller) 1 hour

The older kids were whiny and tired today, so I wore S the whole time in the baby wrap/sling and they both rode in the double stroller almost the whole time. We stopped in the gas station and the library (about 5 minutes each, but that's not included in the hour). That was pretty hard and I'm pooped.

Also-cleaned the kitchen for about 15 minutes, 10 minutes weeding.

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Wednesday Swimming 35 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes freestyle, 10 minutes back stroke, 5 minutes kick board. I did 2 laps of sprints, and that about did me in. So much more tired after this swim! I was also sore from the lawn mower repair too, so that might have been part of it. But, I did not feel sore on my incision at all. Yay!

Also- a little laundry, a little kitchen cleaning, and took all three kids to Wal-mart.

Biking

More "real" biking today! I think I did about the same amount as last time, about 20 minutes. However, I did throw a couple of big hills in there that I didn't last time. Go, me! Lol!

Weekend Through Now

I did a lot of walking around Nauvoo. On Monday I ran about 5.5 miles. Today I ran 6ish miles.

Tuesday Walking 45 minutes with the kids

Walked 20 minutes to Shop N Save, 25 minutes of shopping, plus 25 more minutes walking home.

This was our trial run with our new double stroller. Thanks Liz it works great!!!!
The way home the stroller was very heavy with groceries. I did find out I can carry $70 worth of groceries, plus one older kid at a time, plus Sorsha in the double stroller. I was carrying Sorsha in the baby carrier most of the walk though, while the older kids alternated getting in the stroller. Sorsha seemed to prefer the carrier, and I don't mind burning some more calories.

Plus, I worked on my lawn mower for 2 hours trying to get the blade off so I can sharpen it. I will have to wait until Thursday to finish this job (with supervision from my stepfather), but hopefully I will have learned a new skill as well ;)

Friday, June 4, 2010

Friday Walking 40 minutes (with Big Hills)

I wanted to walk some hills to strengthen my legs and get my lung capacity up to snuff.

Also- carried the baby around for an hour while me and the kids walked all over this neighborhood yard sale in E-ville. So much fun! My neck and shoulders are pretty sore now though, since I forgot the baby carrier and was holding S in my arms the whole time. It was so hot today too!

Thursday, June 3, 2010

More Real Biking!

I did a lot more today, but I don't know how many miles. I did twenty minutes, though. I found out that it's a lot like the exercise bike in that there is a second wind involved, so that was cool. And twenty minutes is way longer than I though I'd last, so that was also cool. Yay for me!
Today was also a weigh day, and I lost another pound. Ten down, ten to go!

Thursday

I got up and ran 7 miles with my group.

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Tuesday Swimming 30 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes free style, 10 minutes back stroke. I was going to do 5 minutes kick board, but I forgot the kick board, and was too pooped to get out of the pool to get one and then come back. I'm not sore, but I am so tired!

Also, some housework and more strawberry picking, about an hour total.

Monday & Tuesday

I did the Memorial Day Biathlon yesterday. I took 1st in my age group! I was actually a little bit slower than last year, but I'm blaming it mainly on the heat. I did okay for the first couple of miles on the run, then the sun came out and I struggled the last three. By the time I came in for the transition, I was feeling pretty bad. I actually think I lost most of my time on my transition which was really bad because I was feeling pretty yucky. However once I got on the bike, I felt strong. The heat doesn't matter nearly as much on a bike because you create your own wind. Forgive me a little brag, but I'm actually pretty good on a bike. I flew past quite a few folks (men and women). I only got passed by one woman on the bike. I finished very strong. 5 mile run, 15 mile bike time: 1:34:59.

Today I got up and ran the hills in my neighborhood. I don't know how far I went, but I ran hills for about 45 minutes.

Monday, May 31, 2010

Monday Cleaning House- All Day

I pushed myself pretty hard today to see if I was up to swimming tomorrow. So far so good! Hopefully, I will be able to swim for at least half an hour tomorrow.

For REAL Biking!

I bought myself a bike!! I'm super excited about it, and we took the kids to this park with a track today, and I broke that sucker in! It's way flipping different riding a bike than an exercise bike, lol! Much harder. I did 1 mile.

Saturday Walking 40 minutes

Again, I think about 2 miles. I was not sore today from walking yesterday, so I decided to try two days in a row.

Also- picked strawberries for 20 minutes and cleaned for about an hour.

Friday, May 28, 2010

Friday Walking 30 minutes, grocery shopping 30 minutes (1 hour total)

I think I got about 2 miles walking (by myself).

The grocery shopping was the first shopping trip with all three kids!

Thursday Strawberries, Digging, Housecleaning 1 Hour

I'm hoping to stay at one hour of activity for awhile. I was pretty active on Tuesday too going through stuff in my basement to sell on e-bay.

Also, I'm going to try to go walking Friday or Saturday again. I was pretty sore last time (incision pain), but hopefully it will be better this time.

Thursday

I guess it's my turn to feel lonely? I ran about 6 miles by myself this morning. The heat is starting to be a problem, it's not bad at 6:30 yet. I am worried about how I'll do on Monday's race. It doesn't start till 9:00, and if the weather stays like it's been, I'm in for a rough run.

Wednesday

Borrowed Lydia's mp3 player and walked for about an hour this morning. Sometimes I thoroughly enjoy walking with music early in the morning by myself. It's very uplifting. I'm going to have to get my own mp3 player.

Monday Strawberry Picking Again 30 minutes

Plus, walking around the Goodwill with the baby in a baby carrier. Also, right after I did my thing with the strawberries I went right into making dinner.

I was going to try to do a strength workout just with my arms, but I'm still sore from walking and grocery shopping on the same day (Saturday).

Monday

I didn't feel like running or biking today so I got out my new buggy, air up the tires, lubed it up and took it for a spin. We walked for about an hour. No idea how far. I'd have to guess about 3.5 ish miles.

Saturday

I got up and went to go run with my group. However, the two other girls in my three pack are doing a little different route on Saturdays which makes it harder to predict when they are going to be where. They start at 5am on Saturdays, and I'm sorry, but I'm just NOT getting up that early on a Saturday. I was hoping to catch them in between loops, but I missed them. I stepped out of the van and realized I was WAY over dressed for the heat. I hadn't done my laundry, so all I had was long pants to run in, plus I was wearing my Gs. So instead of driving around till I found my galls, I went home. Bruce and Terry and I did a bike ride later. I did two loops on Whiteside, which won't mean anything to you all, but I'll know if I ever decide to track my rides. Anyway I think that comes out to around 21 miles. I felt pretty good, and I think I did pretty well. A 13 mile run probably would have been a lot more taxing, but I needed to so some riding anyway. I've got a biathlon to do next week. I hope I kick booty, but we'll see. I've not broken myself off getting ready, but on the whole I'm feeling pretty good these days. Oh and one more thing, I bought another running buggy yesterday. It's identical to my one that got stolen, rust and all. We had to drive an hour away to pick it up, but I only paid $20 for it. I hope it does me good. I'll only be needing it for another 3ish years. Glad to be back in business.

Hiking Again!

John and I took the kids to Shaw Nature Reserve, and we did around a 30-45 minute hike. Way fun! Erik is feeling better, (he got strep), but I'm thinking maybe the hiking was a bit much for the little guy. :( It was almost too much for his mom! Did anyone notice it was pretty hot today? Cause.....it was. And my monthly decided to show up a couple of days ago two months late. Not all the way mind you, just enough to tick me off. Menopause! UGH!

Slow Week

Man, it's been a long week, with not much exercise going on! Today, I did 20 minutes of dance. I'm sweaty and panting and feel like complete jello. There is just no better workout!! Except maybe swimming, and especially because you don't get the whole sweaty thing with that, lol!

PS I forgot to add that yesterday was weigh day, and I lost two more pounds, huzzah!! That's eight total now!

Thursday More Fun With Strawberries 30 minutes

Also, tons of laundry today! Mr. Eczema has decided to visit our house again (man, I hate that guy!!!!), so all the blankets and pillows that come in contact with the baby's skin have to be washed in special detergent with white vinegar. Five loads so far, and probably more tomorrow.

And....I lost 10 lbs in the last month just from nursing a very hungry baby! Maybe I should call that the "nursing workout"?
