Monday Cleaning House- All Day

I pushed myself pretty hard today to see if I was up to swimming tomorrow. So far so good! Hopefully, I will be able to swim for at least half an hour tomorrow.

For REAL Biking!

I bought myself a bike!! I'm super excited about it, and we took the kids to this park with a track today, and I broke that sucker in! It's way flipping different riding a bike than an exercise bike, lol! Much harder. I did 1 mile.

Saturday Walking 40 minutes

Again, I think about 2 miles. I was not sore today from walking yesterday, so I decided to try two days in a row.

Also- picked strawberries for 20 minutes and cleaned for about an hour.

Friday Walking 30 minutes, grocery shopping 30 minutes (1 hour total)

I think I got about 2 miles walking (by myself).

The grocery shopping was the first shopping trip with all three kids!

Thursday Strawberries, Digging, Housecleaning 1 Hour

I'm hoping to stay at one hour of activity for awhile. I was pretty active on Tuesday too going through stuff in my basement to sell on e-bay.

Also, I'm going to try to go walking Friday or Saturday again. I was pretty sore last time (incision pain), but hopefully it will be better this time.

Thursday

I guess it's my turn to feel lonely? I ran about 6 miles by myself this morning. The heat is starting to be a problem, it's not bad at 6:30 yet. I am worried about how I'll do on Monday's race. It doesn't start till 9:00, and if the weather stays like it's been, I'm in for a rough run.

Wednesday

Borrowed Lydia's mp3 player and walked for about an hour this morning. Sometimes I thoroughly enjoy walking with music early in the morning by myself. It's very uplifting. I'm going to have to get my own mp3 player.

Tuesday

Ran 8 miles with my buddies.

Monday Strawberry Picking Again 30 minutes

Plus, walking around the Goodwill with the baby in a baby carrier. Also, right after I did my thing with the strawberries I went right into making dinner.

I was going to try to do a strength workout just with my arms, but I'm still sore from walking and grocery shopping on the same day (Saturday).

Monday

I didn't feel like running or biking today so I got out my new buggy, air up the tires, lubed it up and took it for a spin. We walked for about an hour. No idea how far. I'd have to guess about 3.5 ish miles.

Saturday

I got up and went to go run with my group. However, the two other girls in my three pack are doing a little different route on Saturdays which makes it harder to predict when they are going to be where. They start at 5am on Saturdays, and I'm sorry, but I'm just NOT getting up that early on a Saturday. I was hoping to catch them in between loops, but I missed them. I stepped out of the van and realized I was WAY over dressed for the heat. I hadn't done my laundry, so all I had was long pants to run in, plus I was wearing my Gs. So instead of driving around till I found my galls, I went home. Bruce and Terry and I did a bike ride later. I did two loops on Whiteside, which won't mean anything to you all, but I'll know if I ever decide to track my rides. Anyway I think that comes out to around 21 miles. I felt pretty good, and I think I did pretty well. A 13 mile run probably would have been a lot more taxing, but I needed to so some riding anyway. I've got a biathlon to do next week. I hope I kick booty, but we'll see. I've not broken myself off getting ready, but on the whole I'm feeling pretty good these days. Oh and one more thing, I bought another running buggy yesterday. It's identical to my one that got stolen, rust and all. We had to drive an hour away to pick it up, but I only paid $20 for it. I hope it does me good. I'll only be needing it for another 3ish years. Glad to be back in business.

Hiking Again!

John and I took the kids to Shaw Nature Reserve, and we did around a 30-45 minute hike. Way fun! Erik is feeling better, (he got strep), but I'm thinking maybe the hiking was a bit much for the little guy. :( It was almost too much for his mom! Did anyone notice it was pretty hot today? Cause.....it was. And my monthly decided to show up a couple of days ago two months late. Not all the way mind you, just enough to tick me off. Menopause! UGH!

Saturday Walking 30 minutes

Plus, grocery shopping for 45 minutes and picking strawberries for 10 minutes.

Slow Week

Man, it's been a long week, with not much exercise going on! Today, I did 20 minutes of dance. I'm sweaty and panting and feel like complete jello. There is just no better workout!! Except maybe swimming, and especially because you don't get the whole sweaty thing with that, lol!
The Almighty Liz
PS I forgot to add that yesterday was weigh day, and I lost two more pounds, huzzah!! That's eight total now!

Thursday More Fun With Strawberries 30 minutes

Also, tons of laundry today! Mr. Eczema has decided to visit our house again (man, I hate that guy!!!!), so all the blankets and pillows that come in contact with the baby's skin have to be washed in special detergent with white vinegar. Five loads so far, and probably more tomorrow.

And....I lost 10 lbs in the last month just from nursing a very hungry baby! Maybe I should call that the "nursing workout"?

Thursday

I got up early to run with the group, but no one was there because it was raining. I came home and rode my basement bike. I did 18 minutes of regular riding and then decided to do a speed workout. I did six bursts as fast as I could hold for one minute. My feel like jelly.

Just a Little Something

Not much doin' today. I spent a lot of my day running around finding a new dishwasher, as mine now sucks. I did find one, and I got a great deal too. I'm way excited. However, it won't be here before next week at the earliest, so in the meantime, I have to dive into my mountain of dishes tomorrow. *le sigh*
So today, John and I worked a little more on the walkway. Lots of moving pavers and levelling ect ect. John did the lion's share of the work, but I did enough that I felt awfully puny before we were done, and I'll definitely feel it tomorrow.

Weed Whacking and Edging 30 minutes

I'm definitely counting this as a strength workout since my arms and upper back were pretty sore by the end of it. Our weed whacker probably weighs 8-10 lbs.

Also, cleaning the kitchen for 15 minutes while "wearing" the baby.

Catsup

Um, I don't remember when I posted last. I've been trying to stay away from the computer more. But I'm headed for a huge catch up session right now. So, last week I was kind of lazy. I ran the hills with the group on Tuesday. 7 miles of nasty hills. Thursday I ran 6 miles with the fast group. That was it for last week. Suckish. I'm doing better this week though. I ran about 4.25 miles pushing a kid in the running stroller yesterday. Today I did the big nasty hill route with the group. So that's 7 miles of BIG hills. Oh I almost forgot, last week I ran all the way to the top of 7th street. 7th street is the STEEPEST hill on our route. I don't know who the maniac was who decided that we should run up 7th street, but they are whacked! I usually only make it half way up then I have to walk, which isn't really much slower than I can run up that thing. Anyway, I made it to the top last week. I didn't quite make it today though. Oh well.

Picking & Cutting Strawberries 30 minutes

Strawberries coming out of my ears this year! Holy cow! The cutting was just washing them, cutting their tops off, and then putting them in freezer bags. Three quart bags full so far (from a 12 X 12 strawberry patch!).

I also did a very light load of baby laundry. I think I nursed out about a million calories today too. Super Spy did not want to stop nursing today!

Lots of Updates!

Erm. So I've been sucking at updating the past little bit. But! I had a whole weekend with my husband sans kids, so I feel justified, lol!
So, since I last posted, I have done 20 minutes of strength training, and 20 minutes of biking.
Strength training:
Hamstrings, biceps, shins and shoulders, all pretty average from the last time I did them. Minimal soreness the next day. I definitely need to up the weight for biceps at the very least.
The biking was today and it was pretty wimpy. Monday and all, I'm almost always at a low ebb for energy on Monday. So 4.6 miles covered at around 13.5-14.5 mph.

Cleaning House 1 Hour

Just the kitchen and the kid's playroom. At least two rooms of my house are clean!

Wednesday Digging in the Dirt and Picking Strawberries 30 minutes

Still easing into "more activity" with light gardening chores. I'm hoping to go for a walk on Friday.

More Cardio--and a Dr.'s Appointment

I'm back on my game today, and I did 30 minutes of biking at around 15ish mph for a total of 7.3 miles covered.
I also went to see my cardiologist today, and everything went really well! He's happy with my progress at cardio, thinks my weight loss goals are good, says my murmur is benign sounding, and is an overall happy camper. It sure is a nice change of pace to go to the doctor and NOT find out something ELSE that's wrong with me, lol!! I actually left his office feeling good! Whodda thunk it? Lol!

My Philosophy

So I've been thinking a lot about the new plan of my attack on the fat. (You can see my ruminations here) And I've settled on a great routine. Still doing Pilates. Some friends are trying to talk me into PS90X or whatever. All I hear is B-freaking-S. I hate these fad workout routines that kick your butt. I don't need that. I am so adverse to but-kicking... I need a workout that eases me in, welcomes me with a hug, and then gets my flabby parts all toned and fit... but gently.

I am waiting to hear if the manufacturer will fix my jogging stroller for me. I don't know if I want to invest in a new one. So walks/jogs might be a thing of the past- which really sucks, because the weather is perfect right now.

But today! I did good. I was sore from yesterday, but I powered though. I feel good. Yay.

Tuesday Weeding & Picking up Sticks 45 minutes

I wanted to start walking this weekend, but I completely over did it trying to fix a TINY leak in my upstairs bathroom water supply line. Yeah, two nights on the floor and I could barely walk on Sunday (and I still had to call my friend Mark to fix the stupid leak!). I was still recovering on Monday, so no yard work.

I will try to have my first short walk later this week.

Strength Training

So, I kicked it up a few notches and not only did my regular stuff, but added 10 minutes of Pilate's for legs and tooshie too. Oi! My legs are jelly! In a good way, lol!
Push ups: stairs, 3 sets at 10 reps each
Calves: 3 sets at 12 reps each
Triceps: 4.5ish lbs, 3 sets at 10 reps each.
Quads: 33.2 lbs, 3 sets at 12 reps each.
That took around 15 minutes, and then the 10 minute Pilate's solution for buns and thighs. Hello sexy legs! Nice to see you again, lol!

Monday

Ugh, I know I've said it before, but I really really HATE Mondays!!
20 minutes on the bike at 14.5-15 mph for a total of 4.7 miles covered. Really tired today, too.

Friday Weeding & Pruning 30 minutes

Not much else. I did get a good nap this morning too ;) Thanks Renae!

Thursday More Weeding & Pruning 45 minutes

I think my back will be sore tomorrow from the low shrubs I was bending over pruning today, The weeding is getting easier, though my arms are still pretty jello like.

Hiking!

Ohmygosh, I went hiking! I love hiking, I always have, and I haven't been able to do it in so long! I went with a girlfriend and her son, who is besties with my son, and we did some very vigorous hiking indeed for an hour and a half. Yay, good fun! We went to Shaw Nature Preserve. Seriously, everyone needs to come see me so we can go hiking at this place! It's gorgeous!

Weeding & Watering 30 minutes (fresh air & sunshine workout)

The watering was harder this time since I had to walk the watering can from one side of the yard (the blue water barrel) to the other (strawberry patch). I also finished weeding the pumpkin patch and weeded the strawberry patch.

Also- 10 minutes of cleaning the kitchen.

Cleaning the Kitchen- 30 minutes

The main part of this workout was just being on my feet for 30 minutes all at once. I can't believe I'm sore from that! But, my kitchen finally got all the way clean for the first time in 2 weeks.

Also- weeded for 15 minutes (before the baby started crying) and watered with a half full watering can (because a full watering can would be too heavy!) for 10 minutes.

I definitely felt better getting my daily dose of sun for the day!

Saturday & Tuesday

Saturday I ran 5 miles. I did the first 3.5 with Bruce and then I did the last 1.5 faster and gradually faster until I was all out sprinting at the end. That last 1.5 was actually pretty hard.

Today I ran the 6 mile hill course. We didn't do the Challenge of the Bluff hills, but it was a good work out.

Baby Steps Workout- 30 minutes pruning

My Dr oked me to "gradually increase my activity" but nothing that involves carrying anything heavier than the baby (she mentioned laundry and vacuuming). So, today I walked around the yard for 30 minutes and pruned everything above waist level basically. Mostly trees, but some taller shrubs and some very thin stalks from flowers. I'm hoping to start walking for small periods of time later this week.

The sun felt soooooooooooooooooo good today!

Another Monday

I did THIRTY minutes of biking today! And I was able to kick my mph up too! I averaged 15 mph the whole time, sometimes a little more, and sometimes a little less, for a total of 7.2 miles covered. That's right! I rock BIGTIME!
