Yesterday and Today

I forgot to post yesterday! It was a super busy day for me, so I forgive myself. :D
I did a little better yesterday, but I'm really struggling. 12 min. @ 13ish mph for a total of 2.6 miles covered. Today was 16:30 min @ 12ish mph for I forgot to check but I think it was over 3 miles covered. And it still totally sucks. Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Thursday Exercise bike 30 minutes

Still fighting this STUPID cold. Glargggkk.

Kaju catch-up

Tonight I worked on my patience as I taught V and QQ for the 3rd straight week. W00t! They both now have black uniform jackets. (The cuteness factor keeps ruining the pics, so be patient.)

Also of course hitting the adult class that I help teach once a week.

That's it for now.

Wednesday Running 30 minutes (2 miles with BIG hills)

Slow slow today. I had to blow my nose about 20 times because of my cold, and that last hill felt like Mt Olympus. I ran the whole way though, no walking! And, I have not coughed at all since I ran, so hopefully I cleared up the stuff in my lungs.

Tuesday Kickboxing 30 minutes

I mixed the punching and the kicking section of the Kickbox Core Cross Train DVD (see post from Saturday). I still have to do one more section to have done the whole DVD. The whole DVD consists of 80 minutes of total workouts, so not meant to be done all at once. I do like the "mix and match" aspect of this DVD.

I chose two shorter workouts since I had chills and body aches while I was taking the baby to the doctor today (so not over my cold all the way yet). I hope I can kick some booty on my run tomorrow to make up for all this slacking!

Getting Back At It

So, back to the beginning again, lol! I had a cardiologist's appt a week and a half ago, and it went AWESOME. He can tell I've been consistent with my cardio, even though I get sick and have to take several weeks in a row off. Everything looks really good, and I don't have to see him every six months anymore! I'm now on a once a year schedule, yay!
Also, I worked out today. It was excruciating. 10 minutes at around 13ish mph for a total of 2.2 miles covered, and I just want to die, lol!! This is the part I hate the most, getting back into things. But, I will DO IT because I am INVINCIBLE!

Another Weeks Worth

Okay, I am tired of tight jeans and being the last person up all of the hills! I've said it and not done it before. I mean it to stick this time!! I'm hoping for 15 lbs down by the end of March. Okay girls help me to stick with it!

Last week I did the hills on Tuesday, I biked on Thursday and I ran my stairs on Saturday.

Today I did the hill route all 7 miles of booty kicking hills. I've got to get back with the program sisters!

Satutday Kickboxing 35 minutes (Kickbox: Core Cross Train)

Kickbox: Core Cross Train

I did the above DVD, but only the punches and core training sections. There are two other sections that I will work on next week and then right a review of the whole DVD at that point.

Friday Exercise Bike + Marching in Place 25 minutes

Exercise bike- 20 minutes, marching place 5 minutes (cool down). Just trying to get back into the game after being sick all week.

Plus- sweeping, vacuuming, touch up cleaning both bathrooms, and two loads of laundry.

Last Week

Um, what did I do last week? I don't remember. I did stairs on Thursday, and I ran 5.75 on Friday. I was dismayed by how hard it was. It kills me how fast you lose ground.

Well there is nothing for it, but to run to gain it back. With that attitude I got up and hesitantly went to run hills today. After my terrible failure at hills 2 weeks ago (when I was coming down sick), and how little I've been running lately (I have been doing stairs some, and running some, I even ran in the pool about a week ago while the kids took turns hanging on to me for 45 minutes), but anyway, I was afraid that I would have lost so much ground as to have a really hard time of it today. So much so that I was nearly afraid to go. But if I don't go, how will I ever get better again? Anyway, I dragged my lazy booty out of bed and ran the hill route, -the whole thing- and good news: I felt great! I was still the last person up each hill, but I wasn't toooo far behind, and I felt great! Yay! There is much rejoicing! 7 miles of monster hills today!

Friday Running 40 minutes (2 3/4 miles with BIG hills)

Not the best running time, but I was daydreaming the whole time, which I really enjoy when I'm running. I also had to go slow in a lot of places because of snow and ice (yeah! yeah! the ice made me slow! that's the ticket!).

Woot! This was the 5th time I worked out this week! Working out 5 times TWO weeks in a row! I actually hope to do some yoga (to pull out some kinks in my back) tomorrow, so maybe even SIX time this week. Double woot!

Plus- deep cleaned bathrooms for 1 1/2 hours.

Wednesday Kickboxing 45 minutes

I did the Kathy Smith Kickboxing Workout, which I have not done in a few years (but I've owned for awhile). The kids were off school because of the cold, so I decided we were going to be homebodies today.

The Kathy Smith kickboxing workout is medium intensity, with most kicks being demonstrated very well before she increases the tempo. She is not real strong on working your abs specifically like Denise Austin does. That was fine for today because I did LOTS of ab work yesterday.

Plus- cleaning, and laundry.

Stretching

stretched for 25 minutes, including tension stances

(Working out w/the boy tomorrow.)

Tuesday Exercise Bike +Abs 45 minutes

Exercise Bike- 30 minutes (woot!) and 15 minutes of abs (with 200 crunches).

Kajukenbo @ home

30 minutes of stretching, forms and ground and pound w/my new gloves that Timpani got me for Xmas for a steal.
30 minutes killed me and I feel like a lump, but I did it. The kids w/mom wrangling were nice enough to clean the back room, so I owed it to 'em.
Wed. Vance and I are supposed to start up again.

Keep at ladies! You are inspirational!

Monday Running in Place + Strength (arms, legs, standing abs) 50 minutes

Running in place- 20 minutes. Strength 30 minutes (with 10 lb arm weights, and 10 lb leg weights, but standing abs only).

Piddley

Bad workout today. I had a 24-hour stomach flu starting Saturday night, and today I'm feeling a cold coming on, so I only made it 10 minutes at 13 mph for a total of like 2 miles or thereabouts covered. Ugh.

Saturday Running 3 miles (40 minutes) with one BIG hill

Running in 18 degrees outside. RAAAAAAWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRR! My lungs burned from cold, and I would try putting a scarf over my mouth, but then I felt like I was suffocating. I had to walk for a few blocks, twice, but I still made the same time as Wednesday! Woot!

Whoops!

I did work out yesterday, but the day got away from me and I forgot to post about it! I did much better, I'm gettin' my groove back! 25 minutes at 12.5ish mph for a total of 5.3 miles covered. Yeah, that's a bit more like it!
I'll be back with my workout from today when it's a little less morning-like.
The Almighty Liz
Edited to add today's workout:
Okay! I did even better today. We like this performance curve, yes indeed! 25 min. at 13.5ish mph for a total of 5.4 miles covered.
I forgot to mention that yesterday the last 30 seconds I kicked into high gear and went 20mph. I am sore today, lol!

Friday Aerobics 50 minutes

I did a Denise Austin video called BURN FAT FAST CARDIO BLAST

It was a good workout, with two 5 minute segments (warm up, cool down) and then four 10 minute segments sandwiched in between. The four segments were: Kickboxing, Athletic Interval, Retro Aerobics, and Cardio Dance (mostly latin dance).

Denise Austin is great, and she has been doing aerobics for years. Once you get past the creepy smile (if she stops smiling, will she look insane?) you will probably like her. At least, I've always liked her. If you know Denise Austin workouts, then you know she always likes to target your core (or abs and back). Which for me is great. I think I have a pretty strong core, but I was hurting in the abs by the end of segment four. I think this would be a good DVD to mix and match workouts, or do the whole thing at once like I did.

Kajukenbo 1/6

We started the new year good. (Don't forget the hyperlinks for your edumacation.)

forms 25-30 minutes

escrima sticks or kicks 30 minutes

Fun, fun, fun.

Thursday Exercise Bike + Strength (abs + legs) 40 minutes

Exercise bike- 20 minutes

Abs- Including 200 crunches, plus legs with 10 lb leg weights. My arms were too sore from Tuesday to do them again today.

Getting Ready... and scared!

I am starting bootcamp workouts next month. Like in three weeks. Waking up at 4:30- have the crap kicked out of me- everyday for the entirety of February. I am quite positive this was a bad idea. I have done nothing to prep. In fact, I've backslid because everyone got sick, and I got grumpy and started eating and watching tv on the couch instead of doing my exercising.
I did order a new DVD workout- NYC Ballet Vol 1-2. Since the girls are SO into ballet, I thought they'd like to do it with me. (they need to do it with me- I have such little kid-free time) They got bored of Just Dance, so I've been on the prowl for new options. I also saw an advertisement for Zumba on the Wii. I think that might happen as well.

And- I'm thinking about running. But I hate running. These running people confuse me. There is nothing fun or enjoyable about it! But those running people- they're so slim! So those slimmies are wearing me down. So we'll see.

Better Today

I did a longer workout today! Much slower however. I did 25 minutes, but at 11-11.5mph, for a total 4.8 miles covered. I figured that longer was better than faster at this juncture. I need the benefits that a longer cardio workout offers. The speed will come in time, though!

Wednesday Running (with one BIG hill) 3 miles in 40 minutes

Not my fastest, but I did have to walk about half of that BIG hill, so overall really good.

Plus, more laundry.

And Climbing Back on the Horse....Again....

Well, I'm mostly all better from my bout with pneumonia, and it's time I started working out again! So today was the first day back, and oh my heck, was it hard!! This is the hardest time I've had working out in like a year, I think. Only 16 minutes at around 12mph for a total of 3.2 miles covered. Totally pathetic compared to what I was doing before this last illness, but it should come back quick. I hope! I have an appointment with my cardiologist next week, I need to have as good cardio as possible, lol!
The Almighty Liz
ETA: I forgot to send out HUGE kudos to you girls! Way to go Timpani and Renae! I know I haven't been commenting a lot, but I've read every post, and you girls are doing awesome! Timpani, I'm especially impressed with you! Working out on vacation...! RAWR! And Renae, working out while sick, well, let's just say I would never have the oomph to do so! Great work you two!

I'm still at it

Sorry for not posting guys! I've no real good excuse. I'm not going to bother trying to catch up to the last time I posted. I've been doing a lot of stairs and bike in the basement and a little of actual running.

Yesterday I ran with the group on the hill route. I did terrible. But as I was really sick by the time I got home, I guess I have a good excuse. I hope the hills are better next week!
