Biking and More Biking

So, Saturday I biked for 15 minutes in the morning, which was really hard because mornings are NOT my thing even remotely. Mph were around 12 to 12.5, 2.8 miles covered. I had a rockin' weekend (starting Thursday!), but that meant I got noooooooooooooooooo sleep, so today's workout was even harder. 20 minutes (which was good) but at 11.5-12 mph, so only 3.6 miles covered. Swimming tomorrow (on my birthday!!!)!

Saturday Walking 1 1/2 Hours

Plus, I weeded for about an hour.

It was fun walking with my sister (at night to hide from the heat).

Ouch, I'm All Stiff!!

I got up and ran with my group today. Saturday is the distance day. I did two loops - that's 13 miles of running!!!

Oh yeah, I'm feelin' it now. I may be feeling this for a while to come too. I haven't done a two looper since before I was pregnant with Clayton. That's the peril of running by yourself: it's way easier to let yourself off of the hook after 6 miles. Ouch my bum, Ouch, my bum!!

More Swimming

John and I went to the pool for part of our date, so I did four laps, but two of those was racing John. That makes a big difference!! I was going to do six this time, but I was too pooped from the racing, lol! Very little breaks in between laps. Next time I'm going to try to do at least two laps consecutively.

Friday Strength Workout + Running in Place 1 Hour

Plus 3-4 hours of yard sale walking with the kids (in th heat, with a car that has NO air conditioning).

I did 200 crunches, I ran in place 25 minutes, plus the calf raises I've been trying to do everyday to strengthen my calves for running.

I am feeling so FIT!

Kajukenbo 6/25

It was myself, Sifu and two boys today.

We did form 1 a few times. (This is forms 1 & 2 and we do them a bit different.)

We kicked Billy the Bully.

The kids grappled a bit.

Then we did forward rolls on a mat coming up into an en garde stance.

We stretched first of course.

45ish minuten.

Thursday Running/Walking 40 minutes Abs 10 minutes (50 minutes total)

Plus, I did the major grocery shopping with two kids(uh, like 90 minutes total?).

Running Report- I ran 2 miles with BIG hils (and 80 degree heat even at 9am!). I also walked 3/4 mile. I meant to walk 1 1/2 miles but the heat dragged me down. It was a great run overall though!

Wednesday Running with Mark

I've decided that I'm going to be taking a kid on a bike with me as much as I can this summer. It's a good way for me to spend some one on one time with them. (Though all of the stop and go isn't the best for my workouts. Still 6 miles is 6 miles.) I took Mark today, we ran / rode 6 miles.

Tuesday Exercise Bike 45 minutes Abs 15 minutes (Total 1 Hour)

Plus 1 hour of weeding.

I did not get up in time to beat the heat and go running this morning. 97 degrees was the high today, holy cow! So, I opted for the indoor option with abs. I need to get back into abs everyday because all this gardening is killing my back!

Tuesday Running in the Heat Sucks!

I ran 4 miles of hills in the heat. I felt like total crap and I walked the last mile home.

Monday Swimming 1 Hour

Great swim! I'm going to try to get up at 6am to beat the heat for running tomorrow by getting up before the sun really gets up. We'll see how the rest of the day goes after that ;)

I did 15 minutes of biking at 13-15 mph (I was having a disagreement with the spouse, which gave me some extra oomph, lol!), for 3.2 miles covered. Beach body, here I come! ;)

Friday Intervals

Intervals are evil! I did 4 - 1/2 mile bursts and 2 - 1/4 mile bursts. I hate them so much!

Oh and BTW, weight goal attained! I'm done losing baby weight (and it only took 1 year). I weighed just under 145 this morning; anymore and my husband will start telling me that I look gross. I still have a few areas that could use a little tightening, but that's a job for strength training - not for dieting. Will I ever get into the strength training mode again? I should, it's so good for you.

Kajukenbo 6/18

Well, it was just Sifu, myself and the 14 year old black belt "Scorpion". It was a good class.
We did some basics and then went through all 8 of our formal patterns (forms or katas) twice and some of them three or more time.
We also did some street grappling (BWA-HA-HA!) Basically, we grappled (jujitsu wrestling) at about 50% and threw in punches, eye pokes, knees, groin shots, etc. It was great. I probably had the kid in a candy shop look on my face. :)
All in all about 45ish minutes.

Thursday Running/Walking/Sprinting 45 minutes

Running Report-I ran for a mile before I remembered I had just wanted to do sprints today! So, I did the sprints anyway (4 of them) with walking I did almost 3 miles total. I was mostly walking the BIG hills and then sprinting on the flats or small hills. I was so hot today! I think summer running will be ok. It's harder than when it's cold, but still has almost all of the same benefits.

Nothing today though. Unusually tired. Dunno why, but I can't seem to get up the energy to do anything. At all. So, blech, more tomorrow!

Wednesday Strength Workout 35 minutes

Plus about an hour of weed eating and mowing select parts of the lawn. My legs are going to be so mad at me by the time I get done running tomorrow. I'm really pushing myself this week, but I think it will be good for me overall!

Tuesday Running/Walking 55 minutes Abs 10 minutes

I also did about an hour of weeding.

Running Report--I ran for 2 miles (with the BIG hills) and then walked for 1 1/2 miles. Total 3 1/2 miles (and almost an hour!).

More Biking!

I did 15 minutes yesterday at 12ish mph for a total of 2.9 miles covered. Same as the day before. I've got some major soreness goin' on today, so I didn't do anything. Gettin' back on it tomorrow though!!

Monday Swimming 1 hour

Plus I did 6 hours of heavy duty cleaning (including moving furniture, moving heavy rugs, beating heavy rugs, scrubbing heavy rugs, scrubbing carpets, dusting, and cleaning floors). I almost didn't go swimming, since all I wanted to do was sleep, but I made myself and I'm glad. I always feel so much better after swimming!

I'm Totally Pooped!

My day started at 6:00, when I got up and ran 6.25 miles with Lydia riding her bike along side me. When I got home, the guy delivering 7 tons of rocks was there unloading. I quick showered and changed my clothes then ran to the store to get a few needed things for the project. Then I fed Clayton, put him in the charge of his older siblings, and went outside and shoveled / raked rocks for 3 hours in the rain. Next I spent about 1/2 hour cleaning up the yard. Then I went inside, showered put on dry clothes, fed lunch to everybody, bathed and dressed the baby, got Justice dressed, dropped off R, M, & J at my Mom's house, and took Clayton & Lydia to the dr.'s office for a check-up. Next it was off to run a couple of errands & do the grocery shopping, pick up the boys, stop off for some pizzas, home to put away the groceries, eat and collapse at about 7:30 pm. In a few minutes, I have to up and do family night, then put 5 kids to bed (which is exhausting in itself). I'm TOTALLY POOPED!

Running Report- I ran 1 mile and walked 1 mile. I did a short run since it was my third run this week. I'm not sure when I EVER ran three times in a week. Woot!

Thursday Running/Walking 50 minutes (3 1/4 miles) Abs 10 minutes

I also worked with the big shovel digging holes to stake some apple trees for about an hour.

Running report- I ran 1 mile straight and then walked 2 1/4 miles with big hills. This is definitely an improvement, but my right leg still is not totally back up to snuff. Soon soon soon soon soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon.

Thursday

I ran a little over 6 miles this morning. Ross rode his bike along side me, so it was a bit more stop and go than I usually do. Good times though.

Tuesday with the Zilla's

Bruce and I biked with Team Godzilla tonight. It was drizzling the whole time, which made me a bit nervous, but all was well. I did two loops, so I'm not sure what the mileage is on that. I'll have to ask Bruce. Good times though!

Tuesday Running/ Walking 45 minutes Abs 15 minutes

Running Report- I ran 1/2 mile, my foot started hurting, then I walked 1 mile where it stopped hurting, so I ran another 1/2 mile. I cooled off with another mile of walking. So about 3 miles with BIG hills mixed in with running and walking. Yay!

Update

So, I've been sick again, but, again, I'm feeling better. I danced five minutes to the radio on Friday. That was a mistake; I wasn't well enough yet. Today I did 10 minutes to my dance video, and although I'm wiped out, and I definitely need to eat something before working out next time, I feel okay, not like Friday when I thought I was going to die and not in the I-just-had-a-great-workout kind of way.

Saturday & Monday

Bruce & I went running together Saturday, 4.5 miles. Then we walked about 3 miles later that night. Monday I ran 5 miles.

Monday Swimming 1 Hour Abs 10 minutes

Great swim!!! I also did 2 hours or so of gardening. I did 200 crunches mixed in with other exercises for the ab work. I hope my run tomorrow goes great and my foot is all the way healed!

Kajukenbo 6/4

1 hour class tonight. Sparred 4 x 2-3 minute rounds w/a junior black belt. Kicked a shield.

The other black belt candidate is going to have to wait as he blew out his knee playing basketball. May need surgery. Ouch!

Wednesday Running with Cousins

Some of my Gibby cousins came to visit from Utah. As it turned out, they all wanted to go for a run, so I took them around. That was nice. The weather was perfect running weather, and I needed to get out. They needed a guide. We got to spend quality time together. It was great. We did an easy 5 miles.

Wednesday Swimming 50 minutes

I was doing the wet noodle version of swimming this time. I was slow and could not even make it the whole hour. I hope I get back on my game soon!!!

Tuesday with the Godzilla's

Bruce and I went biking with Team Godzilla's Tuesday Night Ride, well sort of. My bike had a flat, so we had to stop off at Wal-Mart on the way there to get a new inner-tube. The group had been gone for about 20 minutes when we got there. There is a part of the course that is a loop and people do varying numbers of loops, so we did see quite a few of them there. We sort of finished off with 3 or 4 of them. I was playing catch-up the entire way back. For one, I'm a newer rider. For two, I'm a much timider rider and don't feel comfortable riding close enough to draft (which makes a huge difference), hence it's easy to drop me. For three, I don't like to take corners nearly as fast as everyone else, so they left me a bit more on every corner. For four, I probably have one of the crappiest bikes in the whole group (which makes a huge difference too). Not that my bike is particularly bad, but these people are serious about their biking. Their bikes are darn expensive. One girl just bought herself some new wheels that cost $2500 - just for the wheels! Anyway, all considering, I did pretty well. I caught them and got dropped again several times. We biked 19 miles, average speed 18 mph. Then I ran just a shade over a mile, just to train that transition.

Walking for 30 minutes

Walked vigorously to the store for the 30 minutes and then lazed my way back home for 10 minutes. (I was thinking about martial arts at least part of the time. ;) )

Tuesday Running/Walking 30 minutes

I ran for 1/2 mile again (but on hills this time) before my foot told me it was not done healing yet. Soon, I can feel it! I walked for another 1 1/2 miles on some big hills. It still felt really good to run, and I got the "runner's high". I think once my house is put back together I need to get back into some serious strength training. I feel weaker already after only three weeks of no STing. I need to swim too!
