Monday JM 30 Day Shred Level 2 + Extras (35 minutes)

I did the usual 10 lb free weights with JM (except for the chair squats with a V-raise which I always use the 5 lb weights for). I used the 20 lb weights for the extras. I did not feel up for doing the push ups at the end though. I'm rocking my first "girly time" since my little guy was born and it's taking something out of me. I'm only going to run twice this week, I decided. I will swim tomorrow, and then run Wednesday. I guess I might only do two strength workout too? I will see how it goes.

Uh, bad week with sick mom and then I got a stinkin cold right before Christmas. I also have been having weird lower belly/lower back pain. It's better today, so I'm hoping to trail run tomorrow. My mom is better, I hope.

Firstly, again, I would like to give major kudos to Timpani for being freaking awesome.  Also, I'm so sorry about your mom, how is she doing now?

I am not doing well.  At all.  Stress from all sides (except my husband who is my rock and one of the few reasons I can count on one hand that I am still sane), and sleep deprivation are causing me to over eat, and to not handle anything well.  Bi-polar, PTSD, you name it.  Falling apart a little at a time over here.

I will not stand for it.  It's time to get my life back.  It's time to unleash the LIZ!!

This week, of course, is insane.  Christmas parties, last minute shopping (which means all of it since Jonni than I was sick last week and week before), baking and the rest are taking up almost every minute until The Big Day.  So, I'm taking small victories as they come.  Today, my eating didn't totally suck.  So far.  I took the dog for a very brisk, 30 minute walk.

I'm not sure what I can accomplish tomorrow in terms of working out.  I have more (and my last chance) of Christmas shopping in the morning, and then parties in the afternoon, and finishing off with VT that evening.  So, I will focus on my eating.  I will try not to make any mistakes tomorrow, but have a perfect eating day.  I will take an exercise opportunity if one arises, but I'm not going to plan anything because I can't see where I would fit it in.

This is the start of being me again.  This is my turning point.  I will forgive myself if I'm not perfect, but BY GOLLY I'm going to do freaking better.

Saturday Trail Runnng (1 hour 10 minutes)

In 5 inches of SNOW! It was fun, but definitely harder with deeper snow. I was surprised I made it to my goal. I was pretty shaky, clumsy, raspy towards the end. The deeper snow was fine on the #2 and the #5 trails, where I started, but when I got to the #1 (the last 30 minutes) it was so slushy! My feet did not get wet until the #1 trail, and then they got soaked (through two layers of socks).

Wednesday JM + Extras + Lap swimming (1 hour 5 minutes total)

I actually did LEVEL 3 on the 30 Day Shred. I used 10 lb free weights except for the shadow boxing, where I switched to 5 lb weights. I did 10 minutes of extras with the 20 lb weight, but I did not do push ups. Level 3 is does half the exercises in plank pose, so I thought I better skip the push ups this time. Swimming- 5 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes freestyle, 10 minutes back stoke, 5 minutes kick board.
Also- took a 3 yr old and a baby to Michael's for almost an hour.

IT WAS SO MUCH FUN TO RUN IN THE SNOW!!! Plus, my inner thigh mysteriously got better? My left hip, shin, and knee were acting up a little, and I should never wear fuzzy slipper socks while running ever again. It was a great run though. I was so glad I went.

I ran around my mom's neighborhood while she watched the two little ones. She has one big hill in her neighborhood, which I looped around twice, and several smaller hills. I think cold running must take more energy because I was REALLY feeling the runner's hunger afterwards and I did not even run that long. Also- once again, I seem to run faster on hills. What's up with that? ;)

Yesterday and Today

I was going to have a fantastic workout week.  I wasn't sick, I wasn't on my period, and I had no injuries.  Of which I spoke too soon, as my back/sciatica started acting up.
Yesterday all I did was weigh-in and sit with a heating pad.  I weighed in at around 139.  I ate better yesterday, but I still have much to work on.
Today I did some pilates.  I did an ab routine and a stretch routine.  The stretch routine helped a lot with the back problems so that was super good.  I will probably be doing that more than anything else this week.
Hopefully by the weekend my back will be good enough that I can do some cardio, which I sorely need to do.  In the meantime, especially with Thanksgiving, I'm going to try really hard to watch my eating.

I also went walking for about an hour yesterday because my PPD was acting up and I needed some "sun therapy". Yay for sunny days when I need them!

So, the whole watch your carbs thing was an epic fail.  I'm craving salt is the problem I think.  So last night was lots of chocolate, and pretzels.  Also, weirdest period ever.  It started on Tuesday, right?  Stopped yesterday, and so far, nada.  Well, not to get into too many details, but barely anything anyway.  Totally negligible.  I mean, what the heck.  I feel lousy, am totally bloated, have cramps, headaches and am totally bugnuts crazy moody, but am not really started?  Or am I going to skip this month?  Or WHAT?!
Plus, just to add to the emotional stress, something happened yesterday that I don't really want on the world wide web, but suffice it to say that I'm just....exhausted.  And temped to move away.  Like, to the ocean or something.  Miles and miles and miles away.  Maybe an island that is only accessible by helicopter.  My private helicopter.  That you can only use if I say so.

Wednesday Swimming 40 minutes

I had some post-partum anxiety triggered by burning myself of all things. This has been a bad year for me for burns. It wasn't too bad, it just made me think of the pain from the other burn which triggered the anxiety. Swimming made me feel better though.
10 minutes breast stroke
10 minutes freestyle
10 minutes back stroke
5 minutes freestyle sprints/back stroke half laps
5 minutes kick board (with flippers)


I didn't meet any of my goals yesterday.  I started my girlie time instead.  Which sucks not only in the usual ways, but I am INSANELY busy this week.  Like, I have multiple things going on every single day.  Total.  Suckage.
So my goal for the rest of the week is the laundry, and to eat sensibly except for the chocolate.  (which is a must during girly time)  But I'm not going to eat chex mix (my other usual must), and I'm going to try not to over due my carbs.  If I can do those two things, I'm calling it a win.

JM with 10 lb free weights and the extras with the 20 lb weight. I also did (barely) 10 push ups at the very end. The JM has the walk-out push ups, plus the extra strength, made those 10 push ups feel like the hardest part of the workout! I'm hoping to keep adding push ups to my strength. I want to get back up to 40-50 push ups again.

Also- my body was still sore from the strength workout on Monday. That's what I get for only doing one strength workout last week!

Tuesday Running 3 miles (38 minutes)

I actually got up early to go running! Go me! I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to make it a habit to get up once a week on Tuesdays to go running. Incentive- it was so bright this morning! So much nicer than running in the dark after Big E gets home from work at night. Another incentive- I ask Erik to skip the 5am feeding, and just bring me the baby at 6am to nurse before I run. More "solid" sleep, even if I get an hour less overall. Still, only an hour less, and with daylight savings time, it was the same time I was getting up before anyway. These are the things I will keep telling myself to stay motivated. Plus, did I mention how nice and bright it was at 6:30? It was so awesome!

Monday JM 30 day shred level 2 + extras (35 minutes)

Nice to have you back Liz! I will be here everyday to help you stay accountable. Also, just to clarify, I do the 20 lb weights AFTER JM is over. I use 10 lb weights during the actual JM workout. The 20 lb weights are the "extras" part to help build more of that muscle I so love. I've lost 3 lbs since I started doing the extras with 20 lb weights (after one month for my body to adjust to the new workout). I think the 20 lb weights are helping me lose weight (finally). I've been stuck with the last 12 lbs of "baby weight" for awhile and I was getting frustrated. 9 lbs to go!

Long Overdue Update

Firstly, Timpani, you.  Are.  AWESOME.  20 lbs weights for JM?!  50 min. swims?!  Girl, you are on FIRE!!!  Great work, I cannot wait to see you when we are all well (how are you doing, by the way?  Are you feeling better?  What about the kids?), because I bet you are Svelte. ;)

So, I know I haven't been posting.  I've been in a....funk?  I've had a lot on my plate (emotionally), and a lot of stress.  I have been working out in fits and starts, but not like I was.  So, turning over a new page, and I am going to hit the workouts like they've never been hit before!  (or, at least the way I was hitting before, lol!)
I am going to start posting a little differently though, to deal with some new problems, like diet.
I have been doing some research, and as it turns out, eating disorders are connected.  If you have suffered with one then you are susceptible to others.  Anorexia and over eating are particularly linked.  Say you suffered from anorexia, and then got a handle on it.  Say you had no problems for years.  Then enter some new, overwhelming stress in your life.  Since you know all the ways to control the anorexia, you then turn to another kind of way to control your eating.  People with anorexia most often turn to over eating.  This is my problem, I think.  I've been binge eating.  That is to say, I eat a whole freaking lot when people aren't here.  So.  I am going to start recording points here on Svelte at the end of the day.  Maybe even throughout the day, especially at first.  Hold myself accountable.  This will also force me to be open with John about it, and you, Timpani, can call me on it if I don't post.  Three way checks, see?
The other problem I'm having is motivation.  Mainly, I think, I've sunken into the depression part of my cycle.  So, I am, at the beginning of the day, going to post what I want to do that day for a workout, and then post at the end of the day how I did.  Again, with the accountability.  I understand that I'm not going to succeed everyday, nor do I think that I will succeed at a goal of working out 6 days a week.  But, if I wake up in the morning and force myself to make a workout goal for the day, and actually record it, I will be more likely to do it.  That's my plan anyway.  We'll see how it goes, and adjust as needed.

I am also going to be setting other, mother-y/household-y/wifely type of goals as well.

I have gained some weight.  I am at around 140.  None of my clothes fit.  I gave all my fat clothes away, so I had to go out and buy new ones.  Of course, when I was at my heaviest, those clothes were way fatter.  I had really big clothes, and really little clothes, and no in between clothes.  So, the new ones are in between ones, and I was super picky.  They'll all look good when I meet my new weight loss goal.  Which is to get to 130, and see how I feel from there.  Because I know I've gained muscle, so 125 might not be a healthy goal anymore.  However, if I'm still not fitting my skinny clothes, then I'll know I need to lose a little more.  I want to have lost 10 lbs by the new year.  I think I'm going to make a widget to the side so I can see my goal everyday.

So, like I said, I haven't completely stopped working out.  I have been doing Zumba.  I have done the machine a couple of times, JM a couple of times, ran a couple of times.  But I need to do way better than that.  Just because I met my goal of doing the Triathlon doesn't mean my reasons for working out have changed.  I need to keep my heart healthy if I don't want valve replacement therapy and if I don't want to die young.  I think I may add a mission statement widget to the side as well.  What do you think our mission statement should be Timpani, you who are better at words than I?

Today, I am going to fold laundry.  I am also going to take the dog for at least a 45 min. very brisk walk.  I have other errands, so I don't know if I'll get a better workout in than that.  However, since I have been in my down cycle, the dog has really suffered from lack of exercise, so he needs to be a priority as well.  So, today's workout will be that walk.  He needs to be a bit retrained on the walking thing before I can handle running him.  Which is why I'm not combining the two, and why I won't have time for both today.

I'm still using 10 lb free weights with JM and a 20 lb weight for the extras. I wonder if I should up the weights for the "easier" exercises (back of the shoulder, top of the shoulder, triceps, and chest) since I'm doing 3 reps of 10 with them as opposed to 3 reps of 5 with the biceps and back of the bicep? I might try to make a 30 lb weight with the weight set I have to add some more strength to my strength workout extras.

Saturday Running (1 Hour)

Notes: (so I can get T to be that good again!). 

We started on the Wanda Rd side of the Watershed trail which is sunnier. 

I brought a WHOLE PACKAGE of graham crackers, and he munched on them the whole time. 

I brought an apple, but he did not want that.

That was pretty much all he did between playing with his toy was eat crackers.

I brought T's large linky soft toy with us. 

I put a blanket on him and on the tray at times which he played with.

It was about 60 degrees and sunny.

I brought binkies and a sucker even, but I used neither of those. I might try the sucker again in the future in case he gets cranky.

I did not feed him a big breakfast, just a banana.

I brought a noisy toy, but he did not like it. Maybe in a few months.

He woke up about 10am.

I seem to be getting stronger using the 20 lb free weight (along with the 10 lb weight used for the JM workout). I'm going to have to look up when I should start increasing the weight, or how often. I don't think I've ever gotten heavier than 20 lbs though? It's kind of exciting ;) Also- my back problem that made skip my strength workout on Wednesday seems to be gone. It hurt in the same place where I sprained/strained my back 10 years ago, so I was not wanting to mess with that.

I woke up feeling sick to my stomach and with my allergies in general freaking out. Then, my left ovary felt like it was stabbing me starting about noon. Finally, around 4pm, everything started to feel better. I had an awesome run too when I thought I would not be up to running at all. I love the runners high on days like today!

I'm hoping to add in some chest exercises next time get it up to 10 minutes of extras. The other 3 minutes was yoga stretches because my lower back was crying uncle ;)

I wore my Altra Eves again (they're like vibrams, except the toes are not separated). I feel a little disloyal, but I like the Eves so much better than Vibrams. Too bad the Altra company stopped making the Eves. I will have to scour e-bay until I can find myself a spare pair of Eves. I had to rush home from grocery shopping after running, but I only missed the first 10 minutes of the 2nd session of GC.

Plus, another hour and a half of lifting, digging, and other yard work related activity. I went to E-ville today for running with T in the jogger while my mom watched S, and I noticed it was big trash pick up day. I found some huge pieces of fencing to put up proper walls around my compost pile with (long pieces of privacy fencing turned on their sides). They were huge, heavy, and perfect for what I needed! I had to dig and pick-axe into the compost (because of tree roots) but now my compost pile is actually functional again. Yay! My feet hurt now too ;)

I also walked another 1/2 mile (in 15 minutes, so really kind of limping along). I did not mean to take a rest day yesterday, but I had a sick husband.

Saturday Trail Running 55 minutes

On the HARD trail. Woot! I got to try out my new Altra Eves barefoot style running shoe. I ruined my vibrams in the wash right after I sprained my toe. The Eves were awesome! I also did 5 push up sets every 5 minutes until got up to THIRTY push ups. I think I might integrate push ups into my trail running workout to get my "third" strength workout each week. I'm having no luck getting a third one in other ways :P

ETA- I'm trying a 3 good meals a day with a fruit or veggie for snacks only "diet" this week to see if I can take off some of  the baby weight.

Yesterday and Today

Last week didn't go so well.  I'm hoping this week will go much better. 
I weighed in yesterday at 136, so I lost a pound!  Woo!  I haven't been doing super awesome, but obviously I'm doing better than I was.  :)
I did my elliptical/bike machine for an hour today.  (it is way freaking hot for me to be running or anything right now, even in the morning)  I did a total of 13ish miles.  I did it in intervals of 5-10 min bike and 10-15 min elliptical.  I have reeeeally improved on that thing! 
I'm thinking Gillian tomorrow, but we'll see.

I was hoping to hit some dirt trails off the paved part of the watershed nature trail, but the tornado a few months ago seems to have effectively closed them down. I also mowed the lawn on Wednesday, and then Big E brought home a bad cold that knocked me on my butt for two days. Back in the saddle!

Tuesday Running 2 1/2 miles (35 minutes)

Donkey butt slow, and then I had to walk the last 1/2 mile (walk of shame for me). I forgot I had done some running yesterday (alongside the kids on their bikes for 1 1/2 hours). I wanted to make sure and get three runs in this week, and I guess I've gotten two in already!


I didn't post my weigh-in yesterday because I kept thinking I was going to work out, and I could include it in that post.  But then I didn't.  It doesn't look like I'll get to it today either.  I'm having some huge issues with my PTSD and anxiety issues right now. 
I weighed in at 137 yesterday, so down three pounds from last week.  Even though I didn't have a great weekend diet wise, it was still better than usual.  This week so far is not going super well either, but I'm determined to keep trying harder than yesterday. 
This is such a new thing for me, having trouble staying on task where food is concerned, and one step further, staying on task period!  Hopefully I can get the PTSD under control, and find my drive and determination again.  I'm determined to do it!!  Lol!

Saturday Sprints (3 hours)

I was sprinting alongside V & Q while they tried to learn to ride a bike. Also- an hour trying to tighten a chain on Q's bike because it would not stay on (which I had never done before). Q & V were both learning to ride on V's bike. V is about 80%  of the way to riding a bike and Q is about 60% there. I am so sore already! I'm hoping now that I fixed Q's bike she will make more progress. Here's hoping!

Monday Weigh-in

I forgot to post my weigh-in on Monday!  140!!!  That's FIFTEEN POUNDS I've gained.  Now that the triathlon is over, I'm getting back on the Weight Watchers wagon, and slimming back down.  My clothes don't fit anymore.  (curse you stress eating!!) 
So far, until today, I've been doing really well.  I didn't totally crash and burn, but I have used up 3/4 of my points, and I still have supper.  I do have flex points I can use anytime, but I was hoping to use them on Sunday as we are having company over.  Boo.  Still, definitely an improvement this week. 
Also, I took the week of working out.  I'm definitely healing, and I've slept a ton this week.  (thank goodness the kids are back in school so I can take naps!)  I'll start pounding the pavement again next week.

More Setbacks

So, not only has this been a stupid week, my computer/internet is being INFURIATINGLY retarded right now.
I was on my girly time this week, so I only had one workout.  And according to my scale, I gained four pounds since the week before.  I weighed in at 140.  This is getting out of hand.  Something Must Be Done.
The only workout I got in was yesterday.  I ran my loop just once, 1.5 miles.  It was hot hot hot and by the time I got home I was dizzy and light headed, and it took me several hours to recover.  Stupid heat!!  I did it in 20 minutes.  With the tri only 6 days away, I am hoping this week goes much smoother for workouts.  As it is, I am TOTALLY not ready for saturday, but I think I'm going to do it anyway.  We'll see.

Monday Running 3 miles (36 minutes)

Holy cow I was fast! My foot feels mostly better, but now my back is acting up. About 3-4 hours after I wake up, it just starts hurting and does not stop until I go to bed (it gets progressively worse until bed time). It's the same place that used to hurt when I worked at Hardees and I was on my feet for 8-12 hour shifts. Stupid back!

I got back on the horse that threw me today (running on the same dirt trail where I injured my foot). Unfortunately, I ruined my vibrams by washing them in hot water. Oh well, they were three years old anyway. I wore my other trail running shoes and I felt so FAST! It was great. Yoga tonight to get my back back in working order. Also- 20 minutes of yoga for runners.


I did some biking today.  Great weather for it!!  MUCH better than the last time, lol!  On google maps it says I did about the same miles, which totally doesn't make sense since I did the same-ish route but added some.  Frustrating.  So, according to google maps I did about 6.4 miles.  Wait.  Last time I did six I think.  Nevermind!  Lol!  I did it in about 40 minutes.  AGAIN with the hills, which completely suck.  :P

Crappy Week

This has been a Not Good Week.  Just mentally.  Part of my bi-polar cycle mainly.  Coupled with all the stress in my life currently, and it's just been blech.  Today was better.
I weighed in on Monday, didn't lose, didn't gain.  Yay for all the energy expended (and calories burned) at Six Flags!  I haven't spent less than four hours at a time at that place.  It adds up. :)
Today was my first day of workouts.  Like I said, stupid week.  I ran this morning, and it was AWFUL.  I only got about .8-ish miles before I totally pooped out and had to walk the rest of the way home.  Total suckage.  It took me at least 30 minutes to go 1.45 miles.  First run since I got sick, and first workout this week.  Before breakfast.  I think I can figure out why it was so horrible.  :P
A couple of hours later (and some food and lots of water) I walked the dog for at least half and hour.  Things were getting better.
Then after John got home from work we went swimming and I did laps for 45 minutes!  I did 1/4 mile!  THAT'S more like it!!  Now, I'm exhausted but happy, and STARVING.  Time for dinner!

I ran over a mile and then walked about 1 1/2 miles. More like 2 3/4 miles? I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day and see how my foot feels. It mostly hurts on the outside edge of the right foot (beneath the pinky toe itself though).

Tuesday Lawn Mowing (1 hour)

I'm counting it because I was dripping in sweat, something that only happens to me a few times every summer. I also spent another 45 minutes picking up "dead" toys and trash in the yard. I filled 3 kitchen trash bags full! This was also the first time I wore non-flip flop shoes in over a week. The toe/foot did not really hurt after the initial try on. It still does not hurt (fingers crossed!)

Yesterday I was going to get up early and run, and then swim in the evening.  It totally didn't happen and this is why;
We went to Six Flags on Thursday, and were there for 8 hours.  For a little over half of that time, it was just me and four kids.  We had so much fun, but I was literally wiped out for the day yesterday.  John, the kids and I did go swimming at our pool in the evening, but it was fun swimming, not laps.  However, I am getting FAR more comfortable in the water, so there was a lot more swimming, and a lot less standing and watching and sort of floaty drifting around.  I did a lot of swimming under water, and am really getting the hang of it!  John even showed me how to do a dolphin kick, and I practiced that a lot.  We were there for an hour and a half, so I'm counting it, even though it was conventional laps.
Today I was going to get up and run, but I didn't, and today is another Six Flags day.  I might run later depending on how I feel and how hot it is.  But I still think Six Flags is a pretty good workout, even though it's not the kind that I need at this juncture.  I will do better next week.

The Beginning of a Ridiculously Busy Day

I did it!  I got up early!  Six thirty to be exact.  I must be out of my mind.  I walked the dog, and then biked.  By the time I got home from biking, AT EIGHT O'CLOCK, it was 91 degrees outside!  (Heat index, the thermometer said 84, but I always go by the heat index.  If it feels like 91, who cares what the thermometer says?)  I sweated more than I ever have in my life.  It was literally dripping into my eyes!  This summer I've finally started to sweat, which I take as a sign that my body is finally hydrated enough after years and years of working on it.  Go me!  I did 6ish miles this morning!  After walking the dog for 1/2 hour!  With huge hills!  (my town is nothing but hills, btw, there is literally almost no flat ground)  It took me about 1/2 hour to ride, so I got a 1 hour workout in before eight.  (I started later than 6:30 because I had to wait for John to get home from his run)  I.  Am.  Awesome.

Wednesday Swimming 30 minutes

This taking it easy stuff is bo-ring! I tried out swimming to see if it hurt my toe (really the whole upper and outer edge of my right foot). It seemed fine, no worse for the wear. It seems to be healing, so I think it's just a sprain? The whole upper right side of the foot is still one big bruise though :P

So Far This Week

I was sick for two-ish weeks.  Boo!  I'm still not totally well, but I'm getting there.  Curse lingering summer colds!  Ugh!
Weighed in on Monday and am down to 136.  Even though I was fighting a cold, we went to Six Flags last week.  We loved it so much that we bought a season pass and went again a couple of days later.  And we're going tomorrow.  And Saturday.  So the way I figure it, even though I didn't get a conventional workout, and we ate a lot of junk, I burned some major calories.  And got a killer tan in the bargain. ;)
Yesterday I went to Zumba, and it kicked my butt.  Definitive proof that, yes, I have been sick. 
I did laps today for 25 minutes, and only got 1/8 of a mile.  I hate set backs, argh!
It's three-ish weeks to the triathlon.  I'm not sure I'm going to be ready, but I'm going to work extra to BE ready.  I think I'm going to start doubling up workouts on some days.  For example, on Friday I think I'm going to get up early and run, and then swim in the evening.  Tomorrow I'm going to get up early and bike.  I hope.  Mornings + Liz usually = DISASTER. 
And if double workouts doesn't lose me some weight, I might just GIVE UP altogether.  Stupid body.  I know I'm not really concentrating on my diet so much right now, but COME ON.  I'm not being horrible either!

Trail Running 40 minutes

And, I think I may have broken my pinky toe when I caught it on a tree root. Ouch! It's either broken or jammed pretty bad (bruised, swollen, etc.) so I may have to take a week or so off exercise. Drat! I just stepped on the scale this morning and I had lost 3 of the 9 lbs I had gained back when I started exercising again. I hate set backs! Glaarrrggghhhh!

Monday JM Workout 2 (25minutes)

Tired and icky feeling today. I think my iron might be low from nursing T? I guess I should try an iron supplement. Blargh.

Sickness, Ect.

So, after my AMAZING run last Monday, I woke up with a nasty cold the next day.  By Wednesday I was running a fever.  I am still fighting that cold, it's a bad one!  John gave it to me, the bugger. ;)
We still went on our camping trip after I got over the fever.  We camped on a river and it was so awesome!  I've never been to a river before, so the current thing was new and exciting for me.  And now I am SO SORE!  Lol!  Muscles I've never used before in my entire life are sore! ;)
I weighed in today at 138 which is not surprizing because life has been stress stress and more stress for the past couple of weeks.  I am not going to actively diet, but I am going to start cutting out my stress eating type food, like chex mix and chocolate.  I'll still indulge sometimes, but I can definitely afford to rein that in a LOT. 
I'm not going to work out today because of the afor mentioned cold, but hopefully I can tomorrow.

Starting the Week Off Right...Hopefully

Today was a stressful day.  Wait.  Let's rewind.
Yesterday was my birthday!  And it was a good day!
Okay, and then today some bad things happened that were stressful.  And for the first time in my life, I was like, "I want to go for a run and clear my head!"  I have gotten to the point where running is a good mental exercise for me!  Physically I still totally hate it, but apparently it's good for my mental well-being.  Whoda thunk it?
I did 3 miles today, too!  Without walking!  First time ever!  So that the first time doing three miles without walking, AND the longest I've ever run without walking!  Booyah, go me!
I'm so going to kill this triathlon, whether I run it on race day or not.

Saturday Fun!

John and I went biking on the Katy Trail!  It was so fun.  We biked for 7.4 miles, and I felt really good.  I could've gone longer, but I didn't want to push it too hard my first time.  I wanted to see how I felt the day after, and the answer is, I feel great!  My bum is sore, but that's to be expected.  I'm maybe a little stiff, but otherwise, awesome!  I think it's going to be easier to get to the prerequisite triathlon 12 miles than I thought.

I went swimming tonight.  I've lost some ground!  Pretty solid half an hour, just a couple of breaks.  But 1/4 mile in this pool is 18 laps, and I only got 12.  I'm going to have to go more than once a week if I'm going to be ready for the tri in just a few weeks.  I might not make it.  I'm okay with that.  I figure if I don't make it on the day of the race, I'll run it on my own when I'm ready.  Just to prove to myself that I can.  That, and if I don't, all this work for nothing?!  I don't think so!

I decided to cool off with a short swim tonight since I've been insufferably hot the last few days. I also jumped off the diving board for 5 minutes afterwards for some fun.

The Week So Far

Monday I weighed in at about 135, so I didn't gain or lose.  Despite starting my girly time AND getting food poisoning.  Go figure.
Yesterday I did an hour of Zumba. 
Today I was going to go for a bike ride, but it rained, and then John and the kids and I went for a car ride, and then before I knew it, it was time for bed.  (which is to say, now) 
I'm going to get that bike ride in this week though, gosh darn it!

I'm still recovering from having the wisdom tooth pulled, but I feel a little better each day. I'm not sure how slow I ran Thursday with the jogging stroller, but it felt ok. Saturday- today, a little faster, but still feeling like my shoes have weights on them as I run. I hope I feel even better by Monday to start doing strength workouts again.

This Week...A Disaster!

So, I went to Zumba and Tuesday and that was fun.
Then I started my girly time on Wednsday.  Not so fun.
Then I got food poisoning on Thursday.  Decidedly not fun.

Massive Update

Firstly, kudos to Timpani!  Girl, you are doing so great!!
And I see you Erik!  Good job to you too!
Okay, business.
I went to Tracey's in Ohio for a few days, and I did get some workouts in while I was there.  John and I went for a 2-2.5 mile run.  Then, Tracey had to fill in for a friend who is a Zumba instructor, so we went to a studio to get all prepped for her class.  We did Zumba for THREE HOURS.  Then an hour and a half later we went and did her hour class!!  That's four hours of Zumba in one day!  I pulled a hammy, which sucked. 
After John and I got home, we went for a run, but because of the hammy, I was only able to do a mile, tops, and we walked the rest of the way home. 
The next day, we got the kids back, and Jonni had the stomach flu.  She was sick for two-ish days, and I nursed my hamstring.  Two days after she got well, I got sick, and was sick for four days.  It was two days before I felt up to doing anything, and then it was Thursday and I had the race on Saturday!  So I went and ran 3 miles to see if I could do it, and I did!  I walked one and a half minutes, not all together, but I did it!  Which really wasn't the smartest thing to do because I sure was feeling it race day! 
And then of course, on Saturday I ran my first race ever!  It felt really good to finish that race.  Unbelievable.  You know, mentally.  Lol!  I was fine physically after a minute.  When you think about where I was five years ago, finishing this race really was unbelievable.  And to do TWO 5k's in one week?  What should I do next?  The answer?  ANYTHING I WANT!!  BOOYAH!
 This was before the race when I was still somewhat perky. ;)
And right when I finished.  Somewhat less perky than before.  Lol!

JM 30 Day Shred Workout 2 (25 minutes)

With 10 lb weights. 

I was still sore from Monday, but there was another storm today so I could not swim. My indoor pool closes when lightning is happening. My muscles have mostly recovered back to pre-baby status, except my abs. I still feel not so good there. I also ran errands with 4 kids, including holding an 18 lb baby at the park for an hour, and carrying 60 lbs worth of tire rims to my car and then to the recycling center.

Also- 1/2 hour housework and 1/2 hour yard work. Plus- 90 more minutes of weeding (2 hours total). I'm pretty tired now ;)

With 10 lb free weights. Going off caffeine and cutting back on sugar this week so I was tired all day. T was also up every 2 hours AGAIN. I also have a bad headache and having some period like bleeding? Just spotting, but it's freaking me out a little since it is way too early for that.

Monday Trail Running (55 minutes)

Memorial Day run! The rain did not hit until the last 5 minutes, so I'm glad I went earlier rather than later even though the usual chaos was happening at my house ;) This was my longest trail run since having the baby. The ground was nice and soft from Saturday's downpour, but not muddy or slippery except for a few places, so it made for a nice long run.

Saturday Running 3ish miles with BIG hills (35 minutes)

I kind of ran all over, in the rain, with big hills, so not sure how many miles exactly. I think maybe a little less than three. I pooped out and had to walk a 1/2 mile in there. We went to a family wedding afterwards and I got to chase after kids for about 2 hours during the reception. Posting Sunday- T finally slept about 7 hour straight last night, but I still feel trashed. I'm hoping to go trail running on Memorial Day.

The Whole Week

I've been on my girly time all week, and have been very puny.  So not much to report, but some.
Monday weigh-in was Not Good.  138.  Some of that has Got To Go.
I did 1/2 of swim on Wednesday, 14ish laps.  She had me do flips again, and I actually did it twice without water up my nose!  I did it a total of, I dunno, four times?  And no panic attacks!  I cut things a little short by not swimming after the lesson because it was my last one and we went out for a victory dinner.  My instructor is awesome. :)
Yesterday I did an hour of Zumba.  I came home feeling naseated and dizzy.  I think maybe I didn't eat enough yesterday or something.
Not sure if I'm going to get a workout in today as we are leaving on vacation today!  The kids are going to grandma's for ten days, and John and I are going on a road trip!  I will be working out while I'm gone, and I'll post about it when I'm near a computer.  But that makes today problematical as I have Much To Do.

Wednesday, Thursday and Today

Just so it's not forgotten, I have still been walking Bronx several times a week, at least three and more often more than that, anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour. 
Wednesday I swam about 45 minutes.  17 laps, so almost a half a mile.  The first 1/2 hour was continuous, no breaks whatsoever.  My instructor told me when we started to do 2 of each stroke I knew.  When I would come in from my lap, she would hand signal things I needed to work on, but I would not pause to talk or anything.  I accomplished 14 laps that way.  Then we worked on jumping in the deep end and flip kicks again, only this time it was just flipping in the water.  I jumped in until I didn't get water up my nose, and then I did two flips, and the second time I almost didn't get water up my nose.  Just a little.  And no panic attacks this time!  Take THAT!  Ha!
Yesterday I did 1 hour of Zumba.  It was awesome as usual.  The shoes are still making a big difference, so it wasn't a first-time-shiny-new-toy kind of love.
Today all I did was walk Bronx for an hour.  Started my girly time so I'm a little more tired today.  We'll see how I feel tomorrow, but I plan on getting something in even if it's not a super hardcore workout.

Friday Planting Trees (3 hours)

OW! I am going to be sore tomorrow, and probably several days after that as well. I was using the big shovel for all the digging, plus I had to get out the pick axe to break up the gravel for planting one of the trees. I planted one apple and one pear tree.

Weigh-In and Tuesday

I weighed in yesterday at 135.  I did better on my diet last week, but not awesome still.  I am, however, way overdue for my cycle, so I know I'm retaining and whatnot.  :P
Today I ran my 1.5 mile loop in about 20 minutes.  I went in the morning before it got too hot, even though it was certainly warm enough.  However, it was morning when I am at my weakest, lol!  I was sure I could do more, but by the time I finished the loop, I was done in. 
Timpani, flip kicks are that thing that competitive swimmers do to turn at the end of a length.  You know what I mean?  When they flip in the water and kick off the wall.  It's hard.  I have the theory very clear in my head, and I have all summer to figure it out, but my instructor will probably not revisit it as it kicked off that panic attack.  I got a LOT of water up my nose twice in a row (I only tried it twice), and on that second try I lost track of up and down and considering my water trauma, it was just too much.  I do plan on mastering it, just because it caused me problems and things like that need to die for inconveniencing me like that.  :D

I kicked myself back to workout 2 because of stiffness from my long run yesterday. That was my first long run since I was 6 months pregnant? So, I was expecting to be more sore than I am. I'm so happy I was able to run the whole 5 miles too.

The Rest of the Week

I had swim lessons on Wednesday, and I think these were the worst yet.  She started teaching me flip kicks, and I had a full-on panic attack in the water.  She was really cool about it, and I still got 15 laps in that day, but definitely more spaced out, a chunk before and chunk after the attack.  It kinda sucked, though.  And then yesterday I was still so rattled from that and the accompanying nightmares that I gave myself a day off.
Today I was going to go for a run, but John brought Trent over and we went for a two hour hike.  I'm going to call that good since I'm pretty wiped out.
Not a bad week, really.  Last week was maybe a bit better, but I'm still happy with my efforts this week.

Yesterday I didn't do anything.  I was sore, and it just didn't feel like the right thing to do.  In short, I wussed out.  Lol!
Today I ran my 1.5 loop, except I took the "short" way which shaves off .05 miles.  It was hot, and I was dying.  I ran the whole way though.  Two observations from my run today:
1. I can't run with Bronx in the summer.  I can't hold the leash and a bottle of water at the same time.  I took him today because I thought, "Eh, it won't be so bad."  And yes, it could be that bad.  It helped a LOT on my last run to have that water. 
2. My route has almost no shade.  None.  I need to get a new route.

I went back to workout 2 because workout 3 almost killed me last week. Plus, I'm still really sore from the toilet repair (where I had to take the whole back of toilet off and on, and back off, and back on, you get the idea, until I got it right, and those things are heavy!).

Starting the Week Off Right!

I weighed in today at 135.  Obviously, the diet is not going well.  I talked to John though, and he is going to help me.  I am SO going to lose ten pounds!
I did 1 hour of Zumba tonight.  It was a great class!!  Great playlist, and the ladies there brought some awesome energy along with their A game.  It was a blast, and went by so fast!!  I also bought me some Zumba shoes over the weekend, and they made a HUGE difference.  I love my Zumba workouts, they are so fun!

Plus, 45 minutes of big shovel yard work. I was digging up a bush that died in the scourge that was last summer and moving another bush into its place. Hopefully, this bush will live. Gardening season + baby is killing my back!

This Whole Week, Exercise and Some Other Stuff

Again with the being busy!!  I have had a pretty stellar workout week, I just am having trouble finding the extra time to post about it!  Or, when I remember to do it, I'm not around the computer, lol!
Weigh-in on Monday sucked.  I'm up to 135.  I'm stress eating.  I need to get a handle on it.
I went running on Monday.  I did my 1.5 mile loop, without walking, in EIGHT-FIVE DEGREE weather.  Conclusions?  I am not going to be able to run in hot weather without water.  I went out the next day and bought myself a little 12 oz bottle to take with me on my runs.  All my other water bottles are metal, or way big, ie, too heavy for me to carry on a run. 
Tuesday I had swim class.  Since it's just me, Debi and I can shift our schedules around to suit our various events for that week.  I did 1 hour, and we kept super good track of the laps this time, so I know I did 22 laps.  There was a break in there so I could practice jumping in the deep end and stuff, so that first 1/2 hour I did 10 laps, and the second 1/2 hour I did 12 laps with no breaks.  My instructor wasn't there for the second half either (she can't be actually teaching me or anywhere near me after our 1/2 hour sessions or she could get fired), so there really weren't any breaks at all.  I know.  I'm awesome.
Wednesday I did another run, with John on his lunch break.  We went out to Shaw and did some trail running, and we got a little lost, so the way we figure it, we did at least 2 miles, and some walking.  Again, in EIGHT-FIVE DEGREE weather.  With my water bottle this time though.  It helped.  I was smart to buy it.
Thursday I did 1 hour of Zumba.  It flew by.  I've started getting back what I lost when I didn't do much for those two or three weeks.  :D
Yesterday, I did nothing.  I was tired. 
Today I did Jillian's 30 Day Shred.  I remember now why I haven't been doing it lately.  I HATE it.
So, the other stuff.  John's work is doing this health insurance thing where you come in and they take your blood to test for cholesterol and diabetes, and they take measurements and blood pressure and stuff.  They have four tiers and whatever your numbers are determine what tier you're in.  It's incentive to get healthier, and I think it's a great idea.  I am GEEKING OUT about my numbers!!  We haven't gotten the blood work back yet, of course, but all the measurements were awesome!  They are as follows:
Height and weight I'm going to skip because those aren't as important, and we've been keeping track of that on here anyway.
Hip: 38".  When I started losing weight my hips were 48". 
Waist: 32".  They started at 45".
Body Fat %: 28.  Right smack in the middle of normal.
BMI: 23.  Middle of normal again.
Blood Pressure: 114/68  My BP is usually low, so that number was not a surprise, although it is a little lower than normal even for me.  My tech was impressed.
AND NOW for the part I'm still geeking out about.  My pulse!!  Now, pulse doesn't mean that much to most people but for someone like me with heart problems, it says a LOT about how healthy your heart is.  When I was sick, my resting heart rate was 120.  I have gotten it down over the past several years until I got my best number at my visit to my cardiologist last January when it was 78.  Very normal, and my doc and I were both ecstatic.  And now?, you say?  What is it now?
FIFTY-EIGHT.  5!  8!  John's pulse, super healthy athletic John, was 52!!  I'm only 8 beats higher than JOHN?!  Whose heartbeat when I lay on his chest actually lifts my head up a little?  I, who when I was first diagnosed with R. Fever, was told I might need valve replacement right away.  Then they said maybe five years, and then maybe at 60 years old, and then maybe IF I stayed super healthy I might not have to have them replaced at all, and then to have a normal pulse and my doc not be able to hear my murmur at my last appointment and I thought that it just couldn't get any better than that, and NOW?!  Now it's 20 beats lower and I have the pulse of an ATHLETE?!! 
That is a miracle, ladies and gentlemen.  My doctors never thought I would be normal again, and now I've not only exceeded expectations, I've blown them out of the water.  God really is out there after all, and still doing miracles.  I feel hugely blessed and lucky that He decided I was worthy of one.  :)

Rode the bike for 30 minutes at just under 12 miles/hour back on forth on my street which is conveniently 0.5 miles one end to the other.

Monday JM 30 Day Shred Workout 3 (25 minutes)

With 10 lb free weights. Some of the moves I had to do slower because of the 10 lb free weights. This was so freaking hard! I have not done this workout in over a year, I think. I wanted something really hard though since I only worked out 3 times last week and I can feel the post partum anxiety creeping up when I don't workout hard at least 4 times a week. This was definitely hard!

The Week in Review

I keep forgetting to post.  Curse you business!
Monday I weighed in at 133 again.  Clearly I need to be doing better on the diet front.
Tuesday, I did 50 min. on the machine. 
Wednesday I did 1 hour of VERY hard swimming.  My instructor pushed me hard, and I did around 20ish (probably more, we lost count) laps with only teensy pauses for the instructions for the next lap.  Those went like this, "So what next?", "Backstroke, go!", "What next?", "Freestyle, go!".  So you can see just how teensy those pauses were, lol!  Also, for about half that time she put flippers on me.  This helps immensely with learning how exactly you are supposed to be kicking, especially for the backstroke.  It also, I found out, works your thighs VERY MUCH.  I am still sore, lol!  Timpani, you should give that a shot if you can find access to some flippers.  It's a way awesome learning tool, and like I said, works out muscles you didn't know you had! ;)
Yesterday I did an hour of Zumba.  My regular instructor was sick, so we had a sub, and she was much different.  She concentrated much more on toning than on cardio.  Lots of lunges and squats and core work, and I'm definitely feeling that today as well. 
Nothing today, I've been out running errands all day.  Tomorrow, if it doesn't freaking RAIN, I'm going to get a run in for the first time in way too many weeks.  *fingers crossed for good weather*

Friday JM 30 Day Shred Workout 2 (25 minutes)

I ran 3 miles yesterday (in the pouring rain!) and forgot to post.

Murder me now. I am so tired. I also made a garden gate on Wednesday instead of swimming and it made this workout today extra hard. Hammering, sawing, bolting, etc.for 3 hours all making my upper body sore. Plus, I definitely do not recover as well from workouts with crappy broken sleep from being up all night with the baby. Wow, I sound moody. I really am happy, just tired.

Wednesday and Thursday

I got home late last night so I went to bed instead of posting. ;)
I got an hour of swim in last night.  It was awesome.  The last session was over, so I signed up for the new one, and I'm all by myself!  Which means my instructor has no one to concentrate on but me, so she's going to really work on getting me ready for the triathlon, which is AWESOME.  We did a lot of work on my backstroke yesterday, though, and my shoulders HATE me today, lol!
Also, the chlorine ate my suit.  The top anyway, so I went out and got another one after class.  (which is why I was home so late)  It's a suit specifically for sport, ie, sturdier and better for chlorine, and it was ON SALE!  $44 suit for $18!  HOLLA!
I did an hour of Zumba tonight, and my teacher really rocked it out.  She did a lot of core work, which I most DEFINITELY needed!! :D

Aaaaand, Getting Back in the Saddle...Again

So, I went of the rails there for a bit.  Lots of stress put me in a tailspin.  I'm still there, but hopefully will get my head together soon.
Last week I only did one day, Thursday, and hour of Zumba.  I did weigh-in at about 133lbs.  Need to lose some there.
Weigh-in yesterday revealed that I am still at 133.  Working on that this week.
I did 65ish minutes of the machine today as it rained all freaking day long.  Tomorrow will be swimming.  Last week was cancelled on account of the storm, so hopefully we won't get a repeat of that tomorrow.

I missed working out yesterday because I woke up with a headache that just got worse as the day went on. The night before had been a rough one with T. I blame that. I almost did not work out today because of a shoulder and elbow ache. I used the workout 2 instead because I remembered it did not have as many push ups, and push ups can irritate my elbows sometimes. Yay for working out even though this week feels like a marathon (almost done!).

Tuesday JM 30 Day Shred Workout 1 (25 minutes)

With 10 lb free weights. I got 10 real push ups on the first set, and then 5 on the next (before switching to knee push ups). My push up form is getting better too, probably because my abs are getting stronger.

This workout was killing me today! This is why I hate when I can't get two strength workouts in a week, it makes the next one 10 times as hard. Plus, my legs are still sore from the hilly run last night.

Back in the saddle.

After a not complete hiatus from working out, but a definite diminishing of gains, here I am again.

15 minutes of Escrima at work
20 minute bike riding
5 minutes of stretching with the above things

I have still been doing 15 minutes of Escrima at work at least once a day and the martial arts class on Thursday nights, but I have not been too cognizant of my eating.

No big workout in the week other than the martial arts class and that's teaching, so is often not as intense.

My initial comedic inspiration, Dory, is supposed to have a new movie so that will help.

Saturday 30 minutes Trail Running

The first 10 minutes was with Q. She did really well for her first trail run! She seems more enthusiastic than V (who was also with us). I also walked for 20 more minutes on the trail with the kids. 

I had to skip my workout yesterday due to a horrible night with T and a cold to boot. I keep hoping he'll sleep better soon!

T slept better last night, but now I have the cold of course. I got out in the garden this afternoon for about 1/2 hour, and for some reason that made me feel better. Anyway, so I added 5 minutes to my swim despite all that!

I weighed in yesterday and gained three pounds, but I'm overdue to start my cycle (again) so I'm not to worried about it.
I ran my 1.5 mile loop and did about 1/2 of it walking.  Which is better than last week, but not great.  I'm starting to think it's maybe the dog that is holding me back.  It IS a lot harder to run with him because you've got to constantly correct him, ect, so at least half your attention is on the dog.  He gets better every time, though, so I'm sure eventually it will be no big deal at all, but right now it's hard.  When I run on Friday, I'll not take him and see what happens.  Cardiovascularly, though, I can tell I've lost a little ground.  But I'll get it back, I always do.  ;)
Oh, and I didn't run on Saturday because the day got away from me and before I knew it, it was raining.  :P

A Couple of Days

Dude.  I keep forgetting to post.  This madness must end!!  Lol!
Wednesday, I went to swim lessons and it SUCKED.  I think I got maybe 6 or 7 laps.  The stamina was just not there.  But we did a lot of mechanical work and fine tuning, so there was much improvement.  I have a great instructor who can work with any situation. ;)
Yesterday was an hour of Zumba, and I finally completed a workout!  Geesh, it was getting ridiculous.  It was a really good class too, lots of energy, and I'm starting to get a lot more comfortable.  Some of the more common moves I'm finally getting my white girl self wrapped around so I don't look like a total idiot doing them, lol!  So, BONUS.  :D
Today I will probably be lazy.  It feels like the right thing to do, I'm still not 100%.  But tomorrow, I will KILL the running!

Tuesday JM Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (45 minutes)

I was really proud of myself for working out today. Teague had me up ALOT from 2-6 am this morning and I did not feel good. Good thing Big E took the morning off! I forgot how hard this workout was. If you count the warm-up and cool down, it's 56 minutes. My abs and legs are going to be dying tomorrow! She basically takes all her hardest cardio and ab moves and puts them into one incredibly aerobic workout.

Weigh-In and Sucky Run

I didn't do anything on Friday because I was feeling puny.  By Friday night, I knew why: I had a stomach bug.
Logically, I didn't do anything on Saturday either. 
I was feeling better on Sunday but not great, so I didn't do anything yesterday but weigh-in.  I lost five pounds!  Not surprising, it's all down my toilet.  I'm at 127 now.  Veeeeery close to where I want to be, and I've decided that as long as I'm under 130, I'm good. 
Today, I tried to go for a run, and it was awful.  About 1/2 mile into it, I felt like I was going to puke.  I walked a little more, tried again, and had to sit on the side of the road with my head between my legs for awhile.  Bronx was very concerned when I did that.  I walked the rest of the way home, the short way, not my usual 1.5 mile loop.  I almost had to call John to pick me up, but I made it. 
I am going to take it super easy at swim lessons tomorrow.  Hopefully by Thursday I'll be up for Zumba.  My instructor is doing a new song that I recommended, and I don't want to miss it!

Monday JM 30 Day Shred Workout 1 (25 minutes)

With 10 lb free weights.

Did 7 real push ups on the first set and 4 on the second (before switching to knee push ups). Getting stronger!

Things are getting a little easier with T. He sleeps in two 3 hour chunks most nights, and then gets up every 2 hours after that (for a total of 10 hours). He also nurses less often so my boobs don't hurt anymore.

Thursday Running 35 minutes (3 miles)

I was fast, for me, despite being tired from starting up the JM workouts. Woot for running during the day again!

Wednesday and Thursday

I got home and went to bed late last night, so I didn't have a chance to post.
I did at least an hour of swimming, probably a bit more, and my instructor and I lost count of the laps after 20.  I'm going to guess between 25 and 30.  I had her all to myself as the other girl was on vacation, and she pushed me hard and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!
Tonight I did an hour and 10ish minutes of Zumba.  I also walked Bronx for an hour, approximately 1.5ish miles.  It was a really active day!

Monday Running 3 miles (40 minutes)

A little less than 40 minutes, but I forgot to look at my watch. I am so tired the last couple of days. The 2 month mark for babies seems to be the hardest for me. The long nights up every 2 hours nursing just seem to be getting relentless and endless at this point. I'm glad I have exercise to give me some energy.

Fun Day!

Okay, I didn't do anything yesterday.  I was busy, but really, it's mostly because I was lazy yesterday.  :P
TODAY I ran with Trent!  Yay for Trent!  He's such a sincerely encouraging person, he just makes you feel like you are the best thing ever the entire time you're running.  So, I ran my 1.5 mile loop, no walking, then we walked .7 miles, and then ran another .8 miles!  So that's a TOTAL of 2.3 miles ran today!!!  I'm totally wiped out. 
I'm so doing it again tomorrow. ;)

Friday JM 30 Day Shred Workout 1 (25 minutes)

With 10 lb free weights. Finally! and Ouch! I did better than I thought I would too. I got 7 "real" push ups total before I had to switch to the knee push ups. I can't remember the last time I worked out so hard I was still shaking 10 minutes later.

Thursday Running 37 minutes (3 miles)

I got to run today! During the day! I'm doing a babysitting exchange with a gal who lives 6 blocks down the street (and has younger kids about the same age as mine). I bought some gel insoles and they improved my time by 2 minutes total, which is awesome for me to jump time that fast. I'm a slow runner in general. 

Also- another cranky baby day! Blargh ;)

ETA- I'm hoping to do JM tomorrow as my shoulder was still twinging today! I really need to get started because everything from below my chest to my crotch feels like a giant sponge (despite losing the baby weight so quickly). I know JM will help with the "sponge" feeling.

Oh my goodness, swim class tonight was AWESOME!!  I got there early, and my teacher did too, so she kicked some people out of a lane so we could get started, so I got about an hour and twenty minutes or thereabouts in instead of 45 minutes.  Way cool.
And I did TWELVE LAPS!!  How awesome is that?!  9 laps is 1/4 mile, which is the length of the swim in the triathlon.  Now, there were breaks, but I did 4 of those with NO breaks.  And this is also not counting all the half laps we did to practice our strokes before we did them the whole length of the pool.  VERY good workout, and next week I get our instructor all to myself!  The other lady in class is going on vacation.  I told my instructor last week that I'm training for a tri, and she just got done training someone else, so she is ALL ABOUT getting me ready.  She promised me that next week she is going to push me HARD, and I CAN'T WAIT!!
