Tuesday Running/ Walking 45 minutes 3 1/4 miles

Running Report- I ran for over two miles! Woot! I walked the last mile or so. I still felt tired from being sick, but my legs are getting stronger and stronger and they kept me going.

I also did about 30 minutes of gardening.

Tuesday

30 minutes running up and down stairs.

Monday Yoga 1 Hour

I did the standing shoulder stand (wrong name?) like three times tonight with no problems. I also was putting our plastic shed back together for about 45 minutes right before class. SHEEEEE-RAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Vigorous Daddy-antics.

5-10 minutes of showing my daughter how to use a staff.

5-10 minutes of showing my son how to do a staff while he and I were balancing on logs

5 minutes of shadowboxing.

5-10 minutes of holding down parts of the shed for the wife to fix.

stretched at work.

Friday Running Walking 35 minutes

Running report- I got over a mile running with the hills, and then walking for another mile or so. 2 1/4 miles total.

Friday

I ran 6.8 miles at average speed 6.6 mph.

Kajukenbo tonight

I had a pretty good work out at my Kajukenbo class tonight. Activities included:
shadowboxing 3 x 1+ minutes
forward rolls + shadowboxing
grappling w/younger guys repeatedly w/ me on the bottom except for twice
kicking a kicking shield

Bike Thursday

"Drat!" That's what I said when I woke up at 4:55 this morning, and realized I was too late to go to my running group. I biked inside on the trainer instead. 30 minutes average speed 15.5 mph, and I only stopped once for about 30 seconds to help Justice with a thing on the computer (I was right next to the computer, so I just leaned over without even getting off of the bike.)

Wednesday Swimming 1 Hour

My knee has been hurting worse and worse as the day has gone on, until about 4pm I was forced to ice it and take ibuprofen. I blame my 11 e-bay selling marathon (while sitting stil in front of the computer) yesterday so I could sell about 250 DVDs for my sister's mother in law (say that three times fast!). I also had to put in another 4 hours today of sitting still to finish all the auction listings.

So, that made my swimming really uneven and I had to keep my left leg bent to avoid pain or strain. Who gets an injury from sitting still? I will also have to give up the idea of running tomorrow :(

Tuesday Bike

I biked on the trainer for 30 minutes average speed 15.5 mph. I did take a couple of small breathers in there.

Monday Yoga 1 Hour

I was finally able to do the move I could not do last week (or this week) after the instructor worked with me for a minute after class. Yay! I'm going to try to practice it this week to make sure I don't forget in the interim week.

Saturday

I ran with my brother Todd, since my stinky brother John ditched me ;). I like running with Todd, he pushes me just a little. We ran 6.5 miles average speed 6.6 mph.

Friday cleaning out basement 3 hours Saturday Running/Walking 45 minutes

I think I'm counting the "basement workout" as a third strength workout. I must have gone up and down those stairs 50 times, while carrying heavy & light items.

Running Report- My legs were so trashed & my lungs so clogged with dust from cleaning out the basement yesterday that I could only run 1 mile, and then walk 2 miles.

New goal- Run 3 times a week.

Friday Speed Work

Intervals. 4 @ 1/2 mile, nearly as fast as I could. 2 @ 1/4 mile, as fast as I could possibly go. It's amazing how long 1/4 mile can be! Total distance covered 4.5 miles (this includes the catch breath in the middle of intervals).

The Company Workout

Well, we had some friends stay at our place for the last three days. There was a LOT they wanted to do, so basically, we were go, go, go! for three days.
Day one; we tried to go to the Zoo, but it was St. Patrick's day, and all the streets leading to the Zoo were closed. Not being all that city savvy as to how to get around in a pinch, we gave up after a couple of hours and went to this really cool ginormous park we found by total accident. That was my workout for that day; chasing and playing with the kids for a little over an hour.
The second day we accomplished getting to the zoo. We were there for two hours, and we didn't rest once. We got lost for an hour, and couldn't find our way out. (even with a map. *sigh*) Then somehow, even though I was at the total end of my rope, and had nothing left to give, I was nominated to walk to the car and bring it back while everyone else rested. 15 minutes all uphill after three hours of walking with no breaks. I way overdid it that day, and I'm still paying for it.
The third and final day they wanted to hit a St. Louis mall, so we went to the Mills Mall, since it has playgrounds for kids and fun things to do. We were there for about three and a half hours, but I spent a good deal of it sitting at the playgrounds watching children while my friends shopped. It was a good compromise. ;) (I did however get a little shopping done myself. The Maidenform outlet is at that mall, and since most of my bras are at the falling apart stage, I got a new one. Oooooh, the bliss! It's a new style that Maidenform came out with, and let me tell you; if you are on the smallish side, and your girls are not as perky as they used to be, this is the one for you! Seriously.)
It was a lot of fun having them here, but I'm going to sleep through the next two or three days, oi!

Off the wagon... back in the saddle.

So I went to my class today, did some shadowboxing, pad work and helped kids grapple. Overall, I felt good about it. Back to the grind started today.

Talked my instructor into delaying my black belt test until later in April as I have loafed for a week- and- a- half. (Not everyone can be the superwoman that my wife is.)

Thursday Running/Walking 45 minutes abs 10 minutes

Running Report- I only made it a mile with running, and two more miles walking, but I was pushing my 3 yr old in a double stroller. That is harder than I thought it would be. I'm going to have to find my "stroller stride".

Jogging- 30 mins- yesterday

Doesn't look like I'm getting anything in today. Too many appts.
But I did want to share my total elation about the fact that I am now wearing a size 12! That's right! These pants may run a bit large (I believe I'm still more like a 14) but holy crap it says "12" on the tag- so I'll take it!

Wednesday Strength Workout 30 minutes

I also did an hour of gardening and an hour more of painting. I wanted to go swimming tonight but they kicked everyone out of the pool because they supposedly saw lightning in the distance. What a crock! I had to get out of my swimsuit and go get my $3 back.

What a waste of a trip into Edwardsville! I also got pulled over on the way, and got a warning ticket, but it just seemed like adding insult to injury!

Tuesday Running/ Walking 40 minutes Abs 10 minutes

I also did about 2 hours of painting too. I am so sore from yoga, and the painting made it worse. But it feels so good to be up and doing stuff! I have been trying to get this painting done all winter, and now I finally started getting to it. I think I will try to do an hour or so a day until I get three doors painted and the living room totally painted (including the ceiling, hopefully).

Still a little itchy, hope that goes away soon too ;)

Tuesday

I ran 6.5 miles, or something like that. We did the Challenge of the Bluffs hills plus the crazy stairs.

Monday Yoga 1 Hour

Good class. There was only one pose that I could not do (the yoga bridge). My doctor called and said the good news is the bad bacteria is gone, but the bad news is a yeast infection moved in instead. I've never had one of these before and actually thought I was somehow immune. I guess the antibiotics did too good of a job.

Why don't more women complain about these yeast infections? They are almost as bad as the uterus pneumonia! The first symptoms were what felt like a bad cold, and then really really tiredness. But, the worst, has been the horrible itching for the last three days. Like, stabbing my eyes out, clawing up the walls, can someone please put me in a coma so I can at least sleep kind of itching. GAH! I'm never getting another one of these again for the rest of my life, if I can help it :)

I also did about 30 minutes of gardening in the form of digging up bulbs and putting them somewhere else.

An Easy Monday

I needed to get out and get some fresh air and exercise, but I wasn't in the mood to kill myself. Instead I walked the dog around the block once, then I took the kids in the stroller and walked to the library, stopping at the park to let Justice play for a little bit. Total trip, just over 5 1/2 miles walked. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Trying to get motivated!

Been on vacation for a while. It's beautiful weather outside! Why can't I get out of this house and go for a run! Agh! I can't break the cycle for a week before it's another uphill battle! Ok- I'm going upstairs right now to go change. Ta-ta!

9:44 am- Thank goodness for a good morning outing! Sweating and everything!

9:50- Hello 180 lbs! Goodbye boobs!

Saturday

I went for an easy 3 mile run with Bruce. I don't know how much that counts for me, but I also went to the Magic House and milled around for a long time. Yeah, that TOTALLY doesn't count for anything!

Intervals

Today I tried doing some speed work. I did intervals. I ran at about 80-90 percent of as hard as I could run for half mile bursts, with short walks in between to catch my breath. It's hard to say how fast I went. My Garmen isn't really reliable for short distances, but it said I was averaging around 7 1/2 - 8 minute miles (7.5-8 mph) for those bursts. I did 3 half mile burst, and I almost did a fourth, but I petered out at 0.30 mile. I did 2 quarter mile bursts after that at full tilt. My average speed on my last burst was 6 minute 48 second mile pace (8.8 mph).

It's about time I dragged my lazy-no-account-good-for-nothing-carcass out of the door

Yeah, I've been lazy lately. I need to repent. I got up and ran with the group today. There were 5 fast groupers there today. However, they were doing a tempo run. This basically means that they run as fast as they can manage, and then a little faster just for the challenge of it. I tried to keep up, but I couldn't. They lost me within the first mile. Oh well! I'm glad that they didn't hang around for me though. I got to have the challenge of trying to keep up without having to worry that I was slowing them down. I kept them in sight for the first half of the run, and I averaged 7.3 mph (8 minute, 13 second miles) for the first 3 miles. The turn around point is at a big hill on State Street (by the library). You usually see the other groups around the top of the hill, one group coming up while the other is going down. I gave up running on my own at that point. I ran up the giant hill, ran for a little bit then ran back down, and then back up it with the next group. I finished off the run with an average of, well I don't know what really, because we did a cool down jog at the end for about another half mile, so that threw off my average. The whole thing ended up being 7 miles average speed 6.3 mph (9 minute 31 second miles).

Wednesday Swimming 1 hour

Good swim, but really tired now. I missed exercise yesterday because my pelvic infection came back. I went to the doctor today, and she said that I have a resistant bacteria that usually causes pneumonia (in the lungs), but I got this really fun bacteria in my girl stuff instead. Who gets pneumonia of the uterus? Is my body competing with Liz for obscure illnesses or what ;)

Monday Yoga 1 Hour

Great class tonight! I did soooo much better and was even able to do this cool twisty pose. Woot!

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Saturday Running/Walking 45 minutes

Running Report- 3 1/4 miles with the big hill, but I only ran 1 1/2 miles of that. Still, considering I was cleaning for about 6 hours in the last two days for my daughter's birthday extravaganza, I think it was good that I got it in at all.

Some Days

I wish you could actually freeze your butt off... and maybe some belly chunkiness too. It's freezing in Idaho. But at least I am staying on the healthy eating track.
The amount of shivering I have been doing up here has to account for some kind of workout too.

Kajukenbo tonight

Maybe 2 sets of 30 s of shadowboxing.

Did our 8 forms with much pausing.

Then my instructor decided I needed to do 250 jujitsu situps. (This is not completely unheard of as I actually did 500 for my brown belt test, BUT since he told me I would be doing 15 min. of cardio for the black belt test, I had not been doing them.) I managed it in about 15 minutes in sets of 150, 50 & 50.

Maybe 30 s of grappling.

Funny side note and background. My school is called Christian Kajukenbo Ministry. We have prayer at the beginning and end of class. The young man that said the prayer at the end thanked Heavenly Father for helping me do my 250 situps and not having a heartattack! (I guess me wheezing scared him.) I thanked his mother for his concern. :)

Thursday Walking 1 Hour

Cold make tired bad.

Thursday

Got up and ran with the group. Unfortunately, the fast group have some other system which I haven't figured out yet. I ran somewhat slower than I like, but it was a little over 6 miles none the less.

Still At It

Ran again this morning. I actually woke up at 5 so I thought I would go jogging sans twins. No luck. They woke up at 6. So I had to take them with me. I'm hoping the extra long walk will offset the doughnuts I had for lunch yesterday.

Same

I've got a little cold. I still worked out, but I didn't improve much today. 12 minutes on the bike at 11.5-13 mph for a total of 2.3 miles covered.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

:P

I did a lackluster 20 minutes of "ground and pound" Monday. I still have been stretching everyday though. Oh wait, I did some footwork also which brought it up to 30 minutes. Yippee!

At much insistence from the supportive super woman (AKA "The Wife"), I spent 30 minutes on the bike tonight. My butt went numb. Ouch. Cooled down w/ some knees and punching in place.

10 minutes w/my kids doing staff techniques tonight also. (Read the post.)

Kajukenbo class tomorrow.

Wednesday Swimming 1 Hour Abs 10 minutes

And there was a girl there swimming tonight too. She said she would be there next Wednesday too. Woot!

Wednesday

Biked 30 minutes on the trainer avg. speed 14.9 mph.

Little Better Still...

I did 12 minutes at 12-13.5 mph for a total of 2.4 miles covered. Baby steps, but soon enough I'll have this mountain conquered!

Tuesday Running in place Abs 1 hour

I ran in place while the kids napped, so I'll swim tomorrow. I think I'll try to run outside sometime Thursday.

Tuesday

I met the group this morning. The medium group seems to have fizzled out, which is okay, since I was ready to move on anyway. There wasn't anyone there from the "fast" group, but Jennifer, one of the fast girls from the medium group was there, so I ran with her. She and I are well matched, so that was nice for a change. We ran the usual 6 mile route, and then did the Challenge of the Bluffs hills, plus a crazy set of stairs that goes to the top of the bluffs, it's like putting 3 sets of steep stairs together. I'm not sure about the exact total mileage, but I think it was around 6.8+; speed was probably around 9 minute miles. Good run!

A Little Better

I did ten minutes with no breaks on the bike today at 12-13 mph for 2 miles. Felt pretty good, and I'm going to try to do that again tomorrow.

Monday Strength & Exercise Bike 1 Hour

I mixed in the 200 crunches too. My yoga class got canceled tonight. Dang! And, more sick kids, so Renae and I can't meet up for me to go running tomorrow. I"m thinking about swimming tomorrow instead of running, and then running early morning on Wednesday. My exercise week it getting all messed up!

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Saturday

I ran 5 miles of nothing but hills.
