Wednesday Exercise Bike 30 minutes

How could I forget about my old workhorse? I was thinking running and swimming would be it, but then I noticed what had become a clothing rack sitting in my living room that I could use as well!
15 minutes medium tension
15 minutes lower tension
Plus, 1 hour shopping clearance sales at Sears with the two youngest. It was fun, despite some 2 year old melt downs and having to take a break to nurse the baby.

Tuesday Swimming 35 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke 
10 minutes freestyle
10 minutes back stroke
5 minutes kick board

Slow swimming, but it felt good. Plus, almost two hours carrying the baby around the house while doing light housework to get him to sleep longer. So far, he only sleeps on me while in the sling, or if I lay down with him (which is not always possible with a mischevious two year old running around trying to clog toilets and such).

Monday and Tuesday

I forgot to post yesterday!  Well, it was more of a busy busy busy day and ran out of time/forgot kind of thing.
So, weigh-in, no gain, no loss.  I might need to shave off a couple of Weight Watchers points here.  Hrm.
I did the machine yesterday (and yes, that's the elliptical/bike hybrid that I have, and lately I've been doing 5min bike, 5min elliptical cycles) for 60 minutes.  I upped the tension, and honestly, I could have gone more, but I had things to do!
Today, it was raining, so I did the machine again, for 70 minutes this time.  It was actually longer because I forgot to hit start on one of those five minute intervals.  Whoops!
So, here's what I'm thinking.  I do like having those long workouts.  The extra points for eating is nice, and it's also good for my stamina.  But I don't always have time.  So, sometimes I'm going to keep the tension where it is now, or later as I get better, up wherever it needs to be, and other times I'm going to skyrocket the tension and get a good hard resistance workout in.

Monday Running/Walking 45 minutes (3 miles)

2 miles slow running- 27 minutes. 1 mile slow walking- 20 minutes

Plus, took the two smaller kids to the grocery store for the first time! The 2 year old predictably gave me more trouble than the 6 week old.

Saturday Running/Walking 50 minutes (3+ miles)

I ran for a over a mile (15 minutes) and then walked for 2 miles. Also- grocery shopping for an hour. I only worked out 3 times this week, so hoping for 4 next week!

I did 80-yes *80*-minutes on the machine today.  I could have kept going, but I needed to get through the shower and cook dinner.  On the up side, freaking 80 minutes!!!  On the down side, I think maybe it's time to up my resistance.  Lol!!

I went to Zumba for an hour, and walked Bronx for 40 minutes, between 1.5 and 2 miles.  That means, for Weight Watchers, I got to add 500 more calories for the day!!  Yumyumyumyumyum.  I am epically hungry, so yay for workout calories!!

Tuesday Swimming 30 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke
10 minutes freestyle
10 minutes back stroke

Plus, laundry all day to catch us up ;) It was a good swim with very little pain, and my lungs felt great!


I did my 1.5 mile loop in about 20 minutes.  I walked a *little* less, and in totally different places, so that's good.  The first leg of my run was significantly longer, which is a huge accomplishment for me because there's a hill in there that I usually get to the top of and almost collapse.  But I made it to the top and kept going for about 70 yards or so!  Interestingly enough, it was my legs that were giving me the most trouble today, not my lungs.  I think it's because I just did Jillian yesterday.  I've tried to work my schedule out in my head to see if I can run on a day that isn't right after Jillian but I don't think it will work.  Ah, well.  My body will adapt eventually. 
And some good news: the next session for swim lessons at one of the Y's closest to me starts next week!  The sessions are 7 weeks long, so that puts me in the middle of April.  So then I'll probably do this thing the local high schools have got going called the Wildwood Master's swim club.  Basically they rent out their indoor pools for specific times during the week, and you can either buy a membership or pay $5 every time you go.  That should get me through until our public pool opens up for the summer.  Hopefully next month it will be warm enough for biking so I can get some of that in before the pool opens and then I can put it all together for a couple of months before the Tri!  Freaking out.  A little.  But I've been making good progress, especially the past couple of weeks, (more calories!  more protein!  thanks for that tip Timpani!), so I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Monday-Starting the Week Off Right!

Weighed in this morning and didn't lose or gain.  I am all bloated though, which means that time of the month is coming around soon.  Blargh.
I did Jillian today for 25ish minutes.  It was easier this time!  I went up in weight last week, I don't remember if I mentioned that.  It's still not what I would call easy or anything, but I had better form, and was able to complete more of the circuits without little 3 or 4 second pauses.  And on the first push-up circuit, I was able to do 10 push-ups!  First time in several years, and they were still girly push-ups, but still.  Yay me! :D

Monday Running/Walking 45 minutes

Running- 10 minutes (3/4 mile)
Walking- 35 minutes (about 2 miles)

My doctor ok'd me to workout at my one month (5 week) check up on Thursday. She did say no ab work or strength workouts until 8 weeks though. Boo! I want to do those because my gigantor nursing boobs are already giving me back aches, and ab/strength workouts are the only things that help with those.

My goal for the next 3 weeks- 2-3 walk/runs and 1-2 swims a week. I'm hoping to workout 3-4 times a week until I can add the 30 day shred back in, but we'll see ;)

Today I ran, and I. DID. AWESOME!!  My first leg of running was .3 miles, then I walked .1.  Then I ran another .2, and walked .1.  THEN, oh THEN I RAN .8 miles!!!!!  So firstly, that's almost a freaking mile I a ran without walking, and secondly I only walked .2 miles out of 1.5!!  I am getting there!!  I'm making progress!!  Maybe I won't kill myself in the Triathlon after all!!!

I didn't work out yesterday.  I ran out of time!  It was a ridiculously busy day. 
Today I did an hour on the machine (an hour!  again!), and also took a very brisk 20 minute walk with Bronx.

I did an afternoon Zumba class today, and what a difference!  The class was smaller, so the instructor could really pump it up!  I really got my sweat on and it was a-w-e-s-o-m-e.  I also walked a friend who went with me who lives in my neighborhood to her house, and then ran home!  Oh, yes, I am boundless energy today!  Except now I'm all out, and I just want to take a nap, lol!

I did 25ish minutes of Jillian 30 Day Shred today, and also took bronx for a brisk 20 minute walk. 
I also weighed in today, and lost a pound last week!  Even eating like hammered crap, and I mean really really badly, I still lost weight.  This, I think, confirms my suspicions that I just need to eat a little more now.  I've upped my points for today, and I feel so much better.  Way more energy, especially working out, not sick and dizzy anymore.  So that's cool.  I get to eat more, lol!!  Score!

I ran my 1.5 mile loop in about 30ish minutes, 3/4 of it running 1/4 walking.  Or a little better probably.  I had Bronx with me, and had to concentrate on him quite a bit as he was being squirrelly.  Felt like a pretty good run though!  I wore my new long spandex also as it was cold out, and they made things MUCH better.

Yesterday and Today

I didn't work out on Wednesday.  It was a bad day, I just didn't feel good!  I took Erik and Jonni out to lunch on Wednesday because Erik had had a doctor's appointment and they drew blood and everything and he was really good, so this was a treat for him.  And I completely binged.  This is sort of a new experience for me, and I just couldn't figure out what was going on.  Also, yesterday, I couldn't help myself from eating more than my allotted points!!  But get this, Zumba went fine yesterday. 
So, I've drawn a few conclusions based on the fact that although I've gained weight, I'm down a belt notch and have lost an inch off my waist, and working out doesn't make me sick and weak if I eat more.
I think that my metabolism is revved up more than it has been in a long time.  Also, the only explanation for being down a belt notch but up in weight is that I'm gaining muscle, which means I'm burning more calories continuously than I was before.  So I've given myself a few more points daily, and today I felt so much better than I have all week!  Less guilt too, for eating more.  Bonus!
So, yesterday I did an hour of Zumba, and it went really well.  I ate more that day, as mentioned above.  Correlation?  I think so.
Today I did an hour, repeat AN HOUR on the machine.  I haven't EVER done that much!  And again, I ate more today.  More proof that I'm on the right track.  Paying attention to my body is paying off. 
And ladies, Oh. My. Gosh.  I think I mentioned that my legs and stuff are changing, but it bears repeating.  My legs are getting skinny and toned!  My butt is less saggy!  I HAVE MUSCLES IN MY ARMS!  My tummy, while not exactly flatter because of excess skin (darn pregnancies!  screwing my elasticity up!), is definitely, under the skin, much MUCH firmer.  I. LOVE. IT.

A Few Days

I was out of town on a girl's weekend with Mary, so I wasn't able to log Saturday's workout.
I did 30 minutes and 1.5 miles on the hotel treadmill.  It's a lot different than pounding the pavement!
Yesterday I tried and failed utterly to run.  I got out there, started running, and had to stop almost immediately.  I was sick to my stomach, and everything hurt.  I walked a bit, thinking, okay, I just need to warm up, and tried again, but no.  It was the same.  So I walked the dog for 20 minutes, but the run was a failure. :(
I also weighed in yesterday, and I've gained a few pounds.  I'm sitting at around 132-133 right now.  NO GOOD.  I'll be really watching the points this week.
I ran today, and while I did successfully move my legs in a run-like manner, it was awful.  I got about 2/3 run and 1/3 walk, or maybe a little better.  1.5 miles, 30 minutes.  At the end, I felt like I was going to throw up in a major way.  Maybe I'm hitting a wall, and if so, it SUCKS. 
Not a good week so far.

Thursday and Friday

I did 60 minutes of Zumba yesterday.  The girls in class made me stand up front!  There was a shortage of space as the class is getting rather large, and no one wanted to front row, of course.  So it was decided, since I'm apparently good that my place was up front right next to the instructor!  I tried to tell them I dance like a white girl, and I have no idea what they were smoking, but there it is.  I'm hoping to avoid that next week because, eek!
Today I did Jillian 30 day Shred for 25 minutes.  It's getting easier.  Not easy, just a little less torturous, by an infinitesimal amount.
