Wednesday

I got up early intending to work out. I thought about doing a speed workout, but in the end I decided that it was high time I start a strength training regimen. I spent half an hour hunting down the bits and pieces of my weight set, and just had time to do most of what I wanted to do, but no cardio. Maybe later. I did impress Ross and Mark by driving them down one of the crazy hills that we run up in our group. It is actually so steep that you have to be careful driving down it. I don't know who dreamed up that crazy route, but I dare anyone to do it and say it didn't kick their booty.

Tuesday

I did my bike in the basement for 35 minutes, then I ran 1.5 miles pushing Justice and Clayton in the stroller IMMEDIATELY after to train the transition. The bike was hard (I aired up my friction tire which makes for more friction), but the run was not as hard as I had expected. I am sweating like crazy. Good workout.

Newfound Love (plus extra sweat!)

I have fallen in love with Just Dance for Wii. Holy Wow- I have never sweat so much before! And I was panting like a tiger! I have now vowed to alternate this game with pilates. Woo hoo!

Success For the Week

Happy to report I have kept up the running & pilates for the week with one exception for an early dr. appt. I am exhausted, though. And I just dropped a pretty penny on workout clothes. (Have you seen the Soma Sport line? Heaven! 60% off is no joke too)

I am hoping to get down a few sizes before seeing some family in July.

Friday

I ran 6.5 loops on my neighborhood hill route.

Wednesday Walking 1 Hour (with BIG hills)

Also- Tuesday- weed whacking 20 minutes.

Fitness plan for the next few months:

Monday- Swimming
Tuesday- not a workout, but something really active like yard work or vigorous cleaning.
Wednesday- Walking
Thursday- strength workout
Friday- Exercise bike or aerobics
Sat & Sun- recover
That should give me 3-4 workouts a week, which is my new goal for awhile.

Wednesday

Bruce and I biked. We skipped Whiteside, but it was sooooooo hot and windy! It sucked.

Um, Let's See...

I wore myself out doing my ceiling last week and making roman shades for my kitchen. I can't even remember what all I did last week. I know I worked out another time that I didn't post, but I don't remember what it was.

Monday this week I ran a little over six miles. Cursed heat is killing me! Well not KILLING me, but I feel so sluggish!

Today I ran with the group, six miles. I ran the first half mile at a fast pace because I got there as everyone was leaving, and I had to catch up. I stayed with the fast group for another two miles after that. Then I fell back and ran with a slower group (neither of my girls were there today. Barb just did a marathon on Sunday and Deb for some reason was running on the treadmill today. I don't know why, but she must have had something other going on.) Anyway I ran slower for the next couple of miles, but in the end I just went ahead on my own at my regular pace.

Monday Swimming Laps 40 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes freestyle, 10 minutes back stroke, 10 minutes kick board.

Also-mowed and raked the lawn for 45 minutes. My neck and upper back is now very sore. Ouch. Ouch a lot.

War!

I've been fighting battles on many fronts lately. I've been giving highest priority to the war on diapers, and have been neglecting my war on fat. This morning, I am starting a new routine: Running with the dogs while Husband gets ready for work. Then doing Pilates in the morning with the girls. How many times do you have to do something for it to become a habit? Cause I just bought a new dress and the chub doesn't work.

So yeah, let's hope I can do the same thing tomorrow!

Wednesday Walking 45 minutes (with BIG hills)

I was pretty pooped after this walk. It did not help that E did not get home from work until 8pm, so it was the end of a long "mommy day". I did nothing else today (except nurse a baby).

Tuesday Strength Workout/Running in Place 30 minutes

I did 10 minutes of running in place, 13 minutes of arms with the 10lb free weight, and 7 minutes of standing ab work. I don't think my abs are ready for floor work just yet. Probably another month. Not sure how long I will wait to run outside.

Also- 20 minutes of vigorous weeding.

Is it only Tuesday?

Dang! I feel like I've lived a whole week in just a day or two. I got up early yesterday and rode the indoor bike for 40 minutes. BLAH! Then I went to the Science Center with SEVEN children and only one other adult (my great friend Amy. I love her!) That doesn't really count as a work out, except maybe mentally. Then I came home and collapsed on my bed for a while, got up and worked on my stinking ceiling in my kitchen (I'm texturizing it). Then I walked to Mark's ball game corralled kids there, and walked back. Total walkage 5 miles. Today I got up at 5:00 with the intention to run, but instead I fiddled with my new mp3 player for about an hour and a half, creating playlists and the like. Then I got Lydia up and ran one mile with her. I've been working on my stinking ceiling for a couple of hours and I'm nearly finished with the texturizing part, but I am TIRED! I've got so much stinking home improvement things to do, it will not ever get done for probably literally 5 years.

Biking

Twenty minutes out in that sweltering heat today! I'm so dang proud of myself for just stepping outside my lovely a/c home, let alone working out in that sauna!!

This week...

Kajukenbo class Thursday night 1.5 hours of various activities.

Lawn-mowing 2 hours today in 88ยบ heat. :P

Saturday Heavy Weeding 45 minutes

I wanted to finish my whole pumpkin patch, but my arms gave out! I was weeding super fast to beat the rain, so I count it as a good workout ;)

Also- vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, laundry.

Friday Sharpening Lawn Mower Blades 30 minutes

Holy flying poo that was hard! I'm going to be sore tomorrow. This was definitely a strength workout that used both arms, and my upper and middle back.

Plus 3 hours yard sale shopping with my mom and three kids (one that I had to hold the whole time). Super fun!

Swimming!

Our pool is finally open, and we had our first opportunity to do lap swim tonight. I did AWESOME! The year before last, I started out at 1/2 a lap, period. Last year I started out at two, and I had to rest in between. This year I did two consecutive with no rest, and then FOUR MORE with small rests in between! Oh yeah! I ROCK! And even then I had to stop because of my muscles, not my cardiovascular fitness. Isn't that COOL?!

Thursday Walking (while wearing the baby and pushing the double stroller) 1 hour

The older kids were whiny and tired today, so I wore S the whole time in the baby wrap/sling and they both rode in the double stroller almost the whole time. We stopped in the gas station and the library (about 5 minutes each, but that's not included in the hour). That was pretty hard and I'm pooped.

Also-cleaned the kitchen for about 15 minutes, 10 minutes weeding.

Wednesday Swimming 35 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes freestyle, 10 minutes back stroke, 5 minutes kick board. I did 2 laps of sprints, and that about did me in. So much more tired after this swim! I was also sore from the lawn mower repair too, so that might have been part of it. But, I did not feel sore on my incision at all. Yay!

Also- a little laundry, a little kitchen cleaning, and took all three kids to Wal-mart.

Biking

More "real" biking today! I think I did about the same amount as last time, about 20 minutes. However, I did throw a couple of big hills in there that I didn't last time. Go, me! Lol!

Weekend Through Now

I did a lot of walking around Nauvoo. On Monday I ran about 5.5 miles. Today I ran 6ish miles.

Tuesday Walking 45 minutes with the kids

Walked 20 minutes to Shop N Save, 25 minutes of shopping, plus 25 more minutes walking home.

This was our trial run with our new double stroller. Thanks Liz it works great!!!!
The way home the stroller was very heavy with groceries. I did find out I can carry $70 worth of groceries, plus one older kid at a time, plus Sorsha in the double stroller. I was carrying Sorsha in the baby carrier most of the walk though, while the older kids alternated getting in the stroller. Sorsha seemed to prefer the carrier, and I don't mind burning some more calories.

Plus, I worked on my lawn mower for 2 hours trying to get the blade off so I can sharpen it. I will have to wait until Thursday to finish this job (with supervision from my stepfather), but hopefully I will have learned a new skill as well ;)

Friday Walking 40 minutes (with Big Hills)

I wanted to walk some hills to strengthen my legs and get my lung capacity up to snuff.

Also- carried the baby around for an hour while me and the kids walked all over this neighborhood yard sale in E-ville. So much fun! My neck and shoulders are pretty sore now though, since I forgot the baby carrier and was holding S in my arms the whole time. It was so hot today too!

More Real Biking!

I did a lot more today, but I don't know how many miles. I did twenty minutes, though. I found out that it's a lot like the exercise bike in that there is a second wind involved, so that was cool. And twenty minutes is way longer than I though I'd last, so that was also cool. Yay for me!
Today was also a weigh day, and I lost another pound. Ten down, ten to go!

Thursday

I got up and ran 7 miles with my group.

Tuesday Swimming 30 minutes

10 minutes breast stroke, 10 minutes free style, 10 minutes back stroke. I was going to do 5 minutes kick board, but I forgot the kick board, and was too pooped to get out of the pool to get one and then come back. I'm not sore, but I am so tired!

Also, some housework and more strawberry picking, about an hour total.

Monday & Tuesday

I did the Memorial Day Biathlon yesterday. I took 1st in my age group! I was actually a little bit slower than last year, but I'm blaming it mainly on the heat. I did okay for the first couple of miles on the run, then the sun came out and I struggled the last three. By the time I came in for the transition, I was feeling pretty bad. I actually think I lost most of my time on my transition which was really bad because I was feeling pretty yucky. However once I got on the bike, I felt strong. The heat doesn't matter nearly as much on a bike because you create your own wind. Forgive me a little brag, but I'm actually pretty good on a bike. I flew past quite a few folks (men and women). I only got passed by one woman on the bike. I finished very strong. 5 mile run, 15 mile bike time: 1:34:59.

Today I got up and ran the hills in my neighborhood. I don't know how far I went, but I ran hills for about 45 minutes.
