And I'm Back

So, here's the good news.  I didn't gain any weight last week, I maintained at 128.  I am on my girly time, so I haven't done anything this week, but when I put on my workout clothes, the tops of which of most of them are very tight, including the one I wore today, it looked pretty freaking good.  So I lost a lot of the bloat I obviously had going on last week.  Score!
The bad news is today's workout was TERRIBLE.  I mean really horrific.  Maybe it's because I'm still on my girly time, and this has been a particularly heavy one, maybe because of the girly time my diet has been pretty crappy, but today was very difficult.  I did 20 min. elliptical/bike, no rests in between, and it was extremely difficult to get in that much.  Typically, my heart rate stays between 150-170ish during cardio (something I have to pay close attention to), sometimes a scooch higher but nothing radical.  Today, by the end when I called it quits, it had shot up to 220.  What the crap?!  So, very low day for Liz.  Tomorrow, I'm thinking strength workout because it's easier on my heart, then I'll pick the cardio back up on Saturday.  Which will be good because John and I are going out of town (therapist ordered! holla! :D), and they have a workout room, but it looks like no weights.  So, big BOO on today. :(

Renae Lately

Renae has been working out much lately.  Not as much as leading up to the triathlon, but still everyday.

This week so far:

Monday:  Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones - that is NO JOKE MRS!  Sheesh that lady kills me!

Tuesday:  Hills with group, it never gets easier.  But I am making it up 7th Street Hill without walking most of the time now.   That's only because once you do it once, you HAVE to do it always.  Sheer will power.

Wednesday:  JM Ripped in 30 week 3

Thursday:  Speed work at the track with group.  4 - 800 repeats, 2 - 400 repeats with a warm-up lap and walking in between.  I am happy to say that for some reason (Bruce is taking the credit.  He says it's because I ran with him so much leading up to the tri.  He made me run faster.  He did.  I hated those 4 miles!) anyway, for some reason this speed workout didn't kill me like they usually do.  A nice surprise.  I haven't done a speed workout in months.  It may have just been an "on" kind of day.  Who knows.

I'm not sure what I'm planning for tomorrow.  Biking would be nice, but I have no one to ride with and no pedals on the bike in the basement.  Bruce stole them for his bike.  Maybe I'll have to do the dreaded stairs.  I haven't done that in about a year.

Saturday I'm planning on a long run, but with the rain...???

Weight is at 155.5 today.  That is down from about 159.  I think it's just fluctuation, probably.  I'm getting sick of that scale going up and up.  I'm trying to ignore it, and tell myself that it's muscle, though I'm not sure if that's true or not.  Mostly I feel pretty great.  Maybe I should plan a trip to Wal-Mart to try on swim-suits again - lol!

Plus cleaning up a huge poo mess from where the toddler missed the potty chair or something? It was pretty close to the chair, but the removable seat was drug through it. That's what I get for working out!

Also- went swimming with the kids for an hour and a half. Tired now!

Plus, more potty training! It felt good to get out and away from the house after being trapped inside all day with the toddler ;). I was also fast for being pregnant, that was nice too. I was running away from the potty training! Lol.

No new news really to report on the work out front.  This week has been horrific, so I've been trying to recover the past couple of days.  Then today I started my girly time.  *shakes fist*  But I wanted to keep up the posting so I don't fall of the wagon.  And I remembered something I could post!  My weekly weigh-in!  I didn't do that yet. :D
So, I lost a couple of more pounds, so that's 37 in all.  I only have THREE MORE POUNDS TO GO to hit my goal!  I weigh 128 now, and it feels fantastic

I did 50 minutes of strength training today.  Mainly what I did last week, with just a couple of tweeks.  Instead of lunges, I put the yoga ball on the wall, and leaned my back against it and did squats.  My thighs are JELLY.  So that was a good one.  Instead of a milk jug, I went downstairs and dug up my weights to do biceps.  Everything else was pretty close though.  I pushed it harder, and my whole body is at the quivering muscle fatigue stage.  I am going to be feeling it tomorrow!  Booyah!

This has been not so great a week so far.  Yesterday was a Super Bad Day.  My mom this time.
Nothing yesterday.  Well, I consider that successfully holding onto my sanity a workout, so not exactly nothing.
Today I did...wait for it...30 minutes of dance!  That's one of the hardest cardio workouts I do!  I might even call it the hardest, since I can't think of a more difficult one right now!  I've NEVER been able to do 30 minutes!  (I don't think...)  I'm starting to be able to do better and better what my PTSD therapist suggested, in that I'm connecting my physical workouts with my mental and emotional state.  Not great at it yet, but getting there.  And it's nice. :D

I noticed when I looked down during push up and plank work that I could not see my belly as much. I got a little worried until I realized that my boobs had just gotten bigger and were getting in the way of me seeing my preggo belly!

Plus, 2 1/2 hours at the park with the kids. It was so nice today we stayed longer than usual.

This Week in Torture

Sorry I have been MIA!  Consequences of last Saturday, (recovery time), and then I had (an ongoing that flared up again this week) a "situation" with some stupid stupid stupid mean girls who use to call themselves my friends.  Didn't help with my stress level.  At all.
So, I didn't do anything Monday or Tuesday.  Those were Bad Days.
Wednesday, I did 20 minutes of dance.  I did better this time!  Starting to get the stamina back.
Thursday I did 50 of strength training.  Let's see if I can remember what I did: 10-12 min. of yoga ball ab work, and I was able to add a couple of reps to all the exercises!  Not another set though.  Yoga ball push-ups and hamstring/tooshie rolls.  Leg lifts, outer thigh and inner thigh.  Biceps with a milk jug.  Triceps push-ups.  Shoulder work with sustained lateral arm lift.  Lunges, and calf work, like stand tippy toe, and back down to your heal, while squeezing the ole glutes.  I think that's it.  I'm a little sore today, but not nearly as bad as I thought I'd be!  Which means I'm stronger than I thought, and I need to kick it up a notch next time.
Today I did 30 minutes of elliptical/bike.  And the cool thing about that is I didn't rest between elliptical to bike and back, and 30 of continuous cardio is the most I've been able to do for a long time!  Go me!
And I've been taking care of John since he got back this afternoon from his vasectomy.  Poor guy.

Big E is going out of town, so I had to get another run in before then. The Y has daycare for swimmers, so I will use that on Friday to do lap swimming. 

Also- went walking with the kids and took them to the park for about 2 hours total.

Monday Running 45 minutes (3 to 3 1/2 miles HILLS)

I did three separate hills to work different muscles and to not get bored. It was so nice to run in 70 degrees! Those hills were so much easier than normal. I think trail running must be helping me on hills! I was not sure on the exact mileage though.

Also- did school supply shopping, took the kids to the park for an hour, and then went grocery shopping. Busy day today!

Bringing You Up-To-Date

So, the weekend was insane busy, and stayed that way through Monday, when we had a little party for John's birthday.  Yesterday was recovery time.
Today, John and I (sans kids!  the in-laws have them for a couple of days, holla!) biked to the pool and back.  I'd say the biking took 15-20 minutes one way.  I. Was. Wiped.  When we got home.  Excuse me while I crawl into a corner and DIE.

Funk Officially Gone!

WAY gone!  Turns out it was partially P.M.S.  I feel great!  I'm ready to kick some bootay at the WRT this weekend!!!!  I've been pretty steady:  3 times a week running, 2 times a week biking, 2 times a week weights, 3 times a week swimming.  My girly time will be over by then, and I should be close to my monthly peak.  The weather looks good.  I'm ready to rock!  (knocking on wood)

Oh and Jillian's No More Trouble Zones is MEAN!!  I love it!

P.S.  I think I'll make a list of things NEVER to do when you are P.M.Sing:  At number one would be do NOT go to the store and try on swimsuits!  lol!

Y Chromosome report...

   Down 17 lbs. from the start.  My original goal appears to have been to lose 28 lbs.  I am trying to see progress where I can.  In some pants, I am in the 4th notch of my belt.  I can wear some shirts that I stopped wearing because I felt like a sausage in a casing.  A pair of jeans that I had not worn in awhile have a bit of room in them.
   I am doing at least 15 minutes of martial arts each day- usually Escrima- except on Thursday when I have my class that night or on Saturdays which is the day of the Escrima class.  Class days practice time is 45- 60 minutes.  (The people at my work are already accustomed to my strange habits, so it's no biggie when I walk in w/two sticks and then go out to our unused warehouse for 15 minutes.)
   I am really enjoying the Escrima class especially since I can be lazy and just be a student instead of coming up w/the material.  (I was fairly pleased as today myself and two other gents were offhandedly referred to as advanced students.  W00t!)
   Monday, Wednesday and Saturday or Friday have become my nights to bike.  I go for a least 30 minutes.  I have 3 mile loop that I figured on Google maps that passes by the MCT terminal in Wood River and the Aquatic center.  I usually start anywhere from 9:30 to 11:00 PM.  (Main St. Wood River is deader than dead at night so it works great!)  I do my loop twice and w/to and from home it's 7 miles altogether.
   When we take the kids to YMCA for swimming, I usually do water jogging for 15+ minutes to get something besides family time out of the trip.  (I am thinking about taking a water noodle and some PVC and making water Escrima sticks for resistance work.)
  I still feel like I am in the company of titans w/ all of you, especially my dear wife.  Keep inspiring me my exercise muses.

I got a late start and it was seriously like a tropical rain forest out there today! I did not think I would last ten minutes because breathing felt like I was drowning. I got used to it after 10 minutes though. Aren't our bodies amazing?

Help! I'm in a Funk!

I'm sick of killing myself everyday.  It's a week and a half out from Wood River, and I am SICK of working out.  Maybe I'm doing too much.  Actually, if I'm totally honest with myself, the timing of this funk came on exactly when Bruce started pulling ahead of me.  It was fun when I was winning.  Now I have to fight and fight every time, and about half the time, I lose.  I'm so ready for this race to come, so I can quit pushing myself so hard.  I seriously need to snap out of it!  Somebody slap me, or talk some sense into me or something.

BTW, I don't know how you swim for so long, Timpani!  I'm swimming about 3 times a week, and I just don't like it.  I have to keep telling myself that I'm not drowning.

Ain't I a right bundle of sunshine today.  Yeah, roar or something.  I'm hitting the showers.

p.s. on the brighter side, my 450 swim / dolphin dive time for the second go round today (I missed the button on my watch for the first set.) was 9:09.  My previous training times have been around 9:20-9:30.  I was expecting it to be worse, because I felt all drowny and broke form.

Cherrio.  I'm done until tomorrow, when I once again kill myself.
